Iphone 4s out of control..

Last night I was looking at my emails on my iPhone 4ssuddenly exited the emails and went to music and scrolled through the music andthen went to the itunes store. It was about to purchase something from thatwhen I turned the iphone off and back on. It worked normally for a coupleminutes then went back to randomly doing whatever it wanted. I restored it andthat didnt help. Now it randomly goes on my messages and starts typing randomcrap and scrolls through my contacts as well as through my music, settings,notifications, youtube, and itunes store. I have had an otter box on my phonesince I got it and havent dropped it or spilled anything on it. Apple Support isnt working so maybe someone here can help me with my problem.. Thanks for the help

I am facing the same problem. I am using iphone 4. I was checking my emails and suddenly something got installed on my phone and it went out of control and kept on opening different things. I restore it through itunes but it did'nt help.

My photo library has 6 and 8 copies of photos. How can I delete those copies? Iphone 5 - edit - doesn't allow me to delete the library (which I wouldn't want to do). Within photo library you can only share or 'add-to' another folder. It is absolutely out of control. And don't get me started on photo stream... it's almost as bad. iPhoto Diet is simply not recommended for use with iPhoto. Go to your iPhoto Library Folder and look in the Originals folder. Check through the rolls there. See how many shots you can find.

HT1947 "Up next" feature makes a mess out of controlling what the heck is played using the iOS remote app.

Tell me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that the "Up next" feature makes a mess out of controlling what the heck is played through the Apple TV using the iOS remote app. The whole thing seem uber-anti-intuitive. I am a long time user (as much and anyone is long time for any of this stuff) of the iOS remote app, and ATV to play music though a stereo system. Up to a couple of weeks ago, I could sit in my chair, start the iPhone remote app, pick a playlist and either start from the beginning, or if the first track didn't grab me at that moment, go ahead and switch to, say, track 6 -- the whole playlist would "sit there" and be available for further browsing. With the new system, if I hit a playlist the songs will go into "Up Next". If as I described in the last sentence, the first song is not getting it for me, and I switch to track 6 , the "Up Next" list is lopped off and only tracks 7 onward will be shown. I can't go back and browse the first 5 tracks (6 actually) -- they're vaporized. The idea of browsing your own music has been killed; I guess this "Up Next" concept is for folks who like maybe a couple of dozen songs that are picked from different places and want to play them in different orders of something -- it just seems like a crummy idea. If under the scenario I described I want to go back and play that first (or second through fifth) song on the original playlist, I have to go out and fish it out of the library somehow and just keep messing around and around. There have been times when I didn't know what the heck was going to come out of the speakers. It seems like the remote user has not been considered in the "dramatically improved" iTunes 11", with the "cleaner user interface" . To me it is "dramatically akin to dog-doo", which, of course is not cleaner than much of anything. If I can't get this working decently, then I'm really thinking of investigating some other type of system like DLNA. Any suggestions?

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone. This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind. Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc. most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently. Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on. I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me. My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. I see I am not alone... Data usage out of control!

So it seems unlike what customer service told me last week I am NOT the only one experiencing this problem!!!!! I have have a verizon cell phone for OVER 17 years and although there have been many frustrations over those years I have never made me angry like this one! We have 4 iPhones in out home and have had the same situation with the same users for over 4 years! In those 4 years I have NEVER gotten a warning for overage data charges even once we all lost out unlimited data almost a year ago with new phone purchases. In February we changed one phone from a 5s to a 6. This forced us to have to go to a shared data plan. The Verizon rep at our local store told me that as a family we had NEVER EXCEEDED 7GB of data in a given month in over a years time (and probably longer but he couldn't see back that far). And that we only got that close 1x (which happen to be when we were on vacation) never other month in the time he checked we were well below 6 GB. I decide on the 8GB plan to be safe and not worry about messages to upgrade plan... For the past 2 months since we had to switch the plan... We have had to increase the plan... 1x last month and this month about 5 days since the 7th day of the cycle I have been having to upgrade!!!! I find this extremely suspicious!!!!! We all hontonthe same schools and work place and live in the same house doing the same jobs we did before we had to switch the plan! The only variable is the change in the plan!!!! I know there is something not right going on and said as much to the representative on the 45 min call we had lst week. She told me I was crazy! I see that I am not alone! Others have the same complaint! I have now added over 25.00 to the plan and have 5days left and got another 90# warning! It is starting to sound very fishy to me! Before a rep writes to tell me to check to be sure we are all using wifi when on wifi and to check our utilization, etc..: I have don't it all! And will reiterate we are all using our phones and data in the exact same way as we did before the plan changed!!!! The only variable is the plan change!!!!
Might be time to look for a new carrier. . How incredibly disappointing! Obviously this is a VERIZON issue or I would be the only one having it! Verizon fix it! Someone is another chat suggested contacting the FTC... Maybe that is an avenue to seek... We the consumer need recourse! Or the BBB!

Jrsquared I want to look into this further. When you did your plan changes that you are mentioning, did you do them on demand? Or did you backdate (or future date) these plan changes? The reason I ask is an on demand plan change, changes the plan right then and there. Which means the amount you pay for your new plan is pro-rated, but so is the amount of data available for you to use. For example if you changed from the 6GB to the 8GB plan in the middle of your bill cycle, you would only be paying for half the 8GB plan... but you would also only have 4GB available to use until the beginning of your next bill cycle.

How do I get my iPhone 5c out of black screen recovery mode?

I have been trying for countless hours and days to get my iPhone 5c out of recovery mode (black screen no apple logo or anything else) the only reason I know it turns on is because the backlight LCD changes color. When I press down on it it leaves a little finger pressure thing. I have tried all of the ways to get it out of DFU mode, Out of Recovery Mode, I have tried restoring it, in which case i get the error 4005,40013 etc. So now I have come here for my last hoorah on trying to get this pile out of recovery mode and the IOS installed and working.
I don't know if this matters or not but, I have recently purchased a screen from ebay, it was an original iPhone screen etc. I have replaced it and as i said the screen works fine. that shouldn't have any problem with the actual software malfunctioning to update, but here is the log! Enjoy!

I ran into the problem you have after trying to update to 7.1.2 the phone updated, but got stuck in recovery mode, and none of the reset methods worked. I did some searching and came up with a simple method, and it got me out of the loop.

You have the iPhone 3GS, not the 3G. The last update to support the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1.
iOS 4.3.3 includes bug fixes etc. There is nothing really special about this update that wasn't introduced in iOS 4.3. iOS 5 is the one to wait for - it will be released in the Autumn/Fall and includes over '200' new features/improvements.
The additional text tines and ringtones were an iPhone 4-only feature.

Last night I upgraded my iPhone 4S to ios 7, and this morning when I went to use it I was stuck in Recovery Mode - How do I get my iPhone 4S out of it w/o restoring? I have photos, contacts, etc Iwant to get off the phone. I tried Tiny Umbrella and RecBoot but no dice. I was not able to get any help from the Apple tech on the phone. They only suggestions offered were to check to see if iPhoto or the Finder would show my device so I could copy over my photos.

That error usually means that your computer antivirus is blocking the update.
It can also mean that your phone was jailbroken, or your computer was used to jailbreak some iOS device in the past.
