Iphone 4s phone call issues

I just bought an iphone4s, white, 32gb. Sometimes when I make a phone call the person that I am ringing cannot hear me but I can hear them. I have to turn the phone off and then on again, then call them before they can hear me.  I dont have the phone in a cover as yet. Is anyone else having the same problem and is there a solution?

  • IPhone 4 Phone Call Issues

    About a week ago I noticed my iphone 4 (updated IOS) was having issues with phone calls.  I would make a call to someone and mid-call they could no longer hear me.  In other cases, I made a call to someone and they never could hear me at all.  Other cases, someone calls me and they cannot hear me.  Finally ther are cases where I call someone and mid-call there is a bunch of static and they cannot hear me.
    I spoke with Apple and they told me that I needed to restore the phone and install it as a new iPhone.  This should deal with the issue.  I did such steps and then synced the phone and tried to make a call.  The first three calls nobody could hear me.  The next call they could hear me for 2 minutes and then static and nothing.
    I have had a new SIM card installed and have reset the network as well.  In reading the Apple Support Community postings, it looks like the only long term solution is to acquire a new phone.  Is there any other solution anyone knows of to help remedy this situation.  I have had the iPhone 4 for 2 years without an issue and in the last week, this crops up.  It has not been in water, it has a case on it, I am not covering up the mics, the speaker phone is off. 
    Next to getting a new phone, any ideas?

    There is nothing to sort out.
    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    If the issue still occurs, take the device to Apple for evaluation as there is obviously a hardware issue.

    Have you tried to restore or reset your phone?
    Or contact your carrier in re: to your sim card

    I have the same issue.  So frustrating!  I think I found a fix. It's not perfect but it works to get Siri, google maps and phone calls working all at the same time which are the most important things to me. After you start the car, go to settings on uconnect. Scroll down to the bluetooth settings. There are 2 tabs here. 1 for voice and 1 for audio. I'm doing this from memory so someone call it out if I have that wrong. Each will say "connected" in red once your iphone automatically pairs to uconnect. In the audio tab, press on the name of your phone. This will disconnect only the audio portion and leave the voice portion connected. You can now use Siri through your car speakers! Calls will still work too. Google maps will also give directions.
    This all works great until you turn off the car at which point the setting will be forgotten and will have to be repeated. It's important to keep in mind that if you now play music or a podcast off your iphone it will emanate from the phone's speaker, not your car speakers. This doesn't impact me as I'll usually be listening to sirius or fm radio when I'm driving anyway. Just like when you receive a call, siri will silence sirius until you're done with siri. Same with google maps.
    What this tells me is if Apple or (less likely) Chrysler ever add an option to save your bluetooth device as a voice only and not a voice&audio bluetooth device that uconnect would finally be usable with siri. I guess this means we can be more specific in our requests to apple and chrysler to resolve this issue. Hope this helps!

  • IPhone 4 phones calls interrupted by music

    When I'm making a phone call I will suddenly be cut off and the Phone starts to play the music that is on the device.  I'm not doing anything to the phone, not pressing buttons shaking it or anything. I can be talking to somebdoy and then suddely they are gone and the music is playing.  Sometimes it takes me four or five attempts to get the call back , as the music will interrupt the dialling and can cut in at any time.
    I checked and the music app is not active after this happens. The iPhone is hardly usable as a phone noew the problem has got so bad. Anybody know if this can be fixed?
    My next move will be to delete all the music on the device, pretty poor for a $600 phone.

    I'm on ios 6.1.3 .
    Frankly I would consider anything as the phone is almost unusable (as a phone) at the moment.  I only have one paid app that cost 99 cents and I don't care about that.

    when you set assign to cascade active, the made phone calls/old email etc. Stays with the old owner. Based on the security setting in your organization, your users may not see such activities. Please see this article from MSDN.

    if the old owner and new owner are in same business units and if they have business unit level permission on activities, you are safe.

  • Problems with 'Find My iPhone' & Making Phone Calls

    Find my iPhone was installed in my iPhone 4 and I would like to ask a few questions as stated below:
    1. When I lost my iPhone, can I find where my iPhone is? My wifi option is usually turned off to save battery and the cellular data is also turned off as the Internet package in my country is not cheap.
    2. When I try to access find my iPhone on a pc with the conditions above, my iPhone cannot be located. Does it related to the settings in 'Mail, Contacts and Calendars'? The  Find My iPhone option is on in the iCloud tab and in the 'Fetch New Data' tab, 'push' is on and fetch 'manually'.
    3. Sometimes, when I go to certain areas, I can't make a phone call or receive messages as well. I try to restart my iPhone but it doesn't seemed functioning at all. I tried to type *#06# several times in the phone interface, but it didn't show me anything. After a time, I figured out that after I turned on  and off 'cellular data' then only it returned to normal condition. The imei number also will pop out a few times as I typed in the phone interface several times.

    I usually use wifi when I am at home or even out. If I cannot track where my iPhone is, then what use of Find My iPhone invented for? And also the built in Assisted GPS function for the only uses of offline navigation and location service ONLY when with Internet access. Unlike the other phones such as GalaxySII, it can be real-time tracked. Although Apple has many restrictions, but it should improve the safety services.
    iPhone or iPad, with or without cellular data or even wifi sometimes, is always full with fun and functionable. I can deal with my works with many useful apps such as quick office, pages etc. When I am bored, oops, I'm sorry, I won't be bored - I can spend my time with a thousand types of games or watching a series of movies/ dramas downloaded. With iDevices, I will not be living in a dull and meaningless world.

  • Several Phone Call Issues Since Upgrading My iPhone 5 to iOS8

    I have an iPhone 5 and I have upgraded to iOS8. Since I have upgraded, I am having severe issues with telephone calls. I used to be able to make a call, hit the hold button and place the phone in my pocket while walking and talking. I can no longer do this (I almost always use my headphones for calls as I can hear better with them versus not having them in for calls). Now if my phone's hold button is hit or it falls asleep, the call disconnects and the MP3 player/ipod feature begins to play.
    I have also had issues with calls simply vanishing seconds after I make them. No error message or anything, just vanishing and the MP3 player/iPod turning on.
    I have checked the forums/web and have found nothing on this. Has anyone else had any similar issues/any tips on how to make this stop? It's very frustrating.

    Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
    You will not lose data by resetting. If this does not work, set it up as new device, to rule out a software issue. Looks like the proximity sensor is not working as expected, as the music starts playing instead of the screen switching off while placing the phone next to your ear.

  • IPhone 4 voice call issues

    My iPhone 4 sometimes goes into Facetime in the middle of a voice call. I don't have a screen protector that might block the proximity sensor. I have done a full reboot and am on the latest iOS. Any ideas what is wrong?

    I've been having a very similar issue that just started last night. I keep dropping calls and when I try to call out nothing happens at all. I cannot browse Safari through 3G either. It keeps coming and going. I was able to finally place a call out and then tried making another call later and it wouldn't work again. I tried the restore as well and nothing works!
    I do not know if I should contact AT&T or Apple for the issue. I do have the extended warranty that I purchased with the phone but about a week after I got the iPhone 4 I had to have it replaced for issues I am not even sure that they would replace it again. I do not have a home phone I rely solely on my cell so I cannot wait to have it fixed or replaced but I am not going to keep a phone that doesn't work especially after paying so much for it!

  • IPhone 5S phone calls - no sound, mic works in every other scenario

    During phone conversations the person I am connented with cannot hear me! All other aspects of the phone work, I can hear them, go on speaker, etc
    Tested the mic, works for Siri, Voice Memos etc.
    This happened all of a sudden.
    The phone is not in headset mode, there is nothing lodged in the jack. I am not on mute, the volume is turned up, etc
    I have restarted several times and nothing. Otherwise the device is functioning as normal.
    Any tips? I am at a loss.

    Make sure nothing is plugged in to the jack connector.
    Make sure nothing is blocking any of the microphones
    Make sure none of the microphones is obstructed by dirt or debris.
    Turn the iPhone off and then on.
    Make sure that the latest version of iOS is installed.
    If necessary, find general iPhone hardware troubleshooting suggestions.

  • IPhone sound and call issues

    I am a bit frusturated with my iPhone and here's why; most times when I receive a call I miss it as my phone won't ring on my end, it will be out on my counter let's say and all settings are set appropriately so that I should hear an incoming call. This seems to an ongoing problem with my phone. I sent my phone in for repairs and had it replaced, however with my new replacement, the problem persists...is this a bug?
    Has anyone experienced this? I really hope I am not the only one, so far I have not found any satisfaction...someone please help!
    PS I have already gone through about 3 different system restores.

    My iphone does this same thing, but only when it isn't in a place where it has enough ATT bars. Try moving your phone to another spot in the room, and pay attention to the ATT bars. My phone won't ring when I get an incoming call on one end of my living room, where I had originally wanted to dock it, yet it works just fine after I moved it a few feet away...and set the dock up there. I notice I don't have many ATT bars at that end of the room. I can make calls from there, but it won't receive at that end of the room.

    Conditions for Voice Calling Continuity
    Devices must be on the same WiFi network.
    The devices must be signed into the same iCloud account.
    The devices must also be signed into Facetime with the same Apple ID.
    The devices must have “iPhone Cellular Calls” set to on. This toggle can be found in Settings>Facetime>iPhone Cellular Calls

  • IPhone 5s Voice Call Issues

    I've had an iPhone 5s (upgraded to 8.1.3) since mid-November and have been experiencing difficulties on voice calls ever since (I switched carriers as well). When calling specific contacts (family, friends etc.), the calls sound as though as I am on speakerphone, and there is a great deal of static and distortion present as well. The beginning of the call sounds as though the network is about to drop it before recovering it in a much lower quality. To the best of my knowledge, I have tried absolutely everything at this point, including: swapping the handset (three times), sim card (three times), resetting the device and even changing my number (was informed that it could have something to do with the "porting" of a number profile from one carrier to another). None of these moves have worked and I am still trying to decipher why I am encountering this problem (I have been in constant contact with my carrier who appears to have exhausted all ideas).
    Any suggestions or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    I was having the same problem and also loosing battery life - it suddenly happened.  I went online and saw where someone said to get rid of all the unused apps still sitting there, deleted all the old posts and yea!   suddenly the problem has been fixed.   Hadn't deleted the unused apps in quite sometime, so obviously draining everything.

    On sprint.
    most of the people I call either say I sound very quiet (I'm a loud talker) or that I start at a normal volume but then I get so quiet that they can't hear me.  This happens with my bluetooth paired as well with out my Bluetooth.  Any ideas what's wrong?  This is already my second 6 plus, the first had a crackling/distorted speaker. I really hope I don't have to try for number 3.
