IPhone 4s phone losing power

My iPhone 4s will all of the sudden turn off showing no power, though it has been charged recently and not used much.  When I plug it in the phone shows it is at least half way charged.  I do make sure not to keep apps open and primarily use my phone for texting, checking emails and phone calls.  I also have it connected to an internet source the majority of the time and keep it updated.  Any help on why it continues to power down would be appreciated.

The best first step in trouble-shooting battery issues is to Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer, at end of Restore iTunes will prompt to allow you to Set Up iPhone as New, this is the best way.

  • My iphone 4 is losing telephone numbers at a rate of 2 or 3 a day from contacts.  The name and emails remain. Why?

my iphone 4 is losing telephone numbers at a rate of 2 or 3 a day from contacts.  The name and emails remain. Why?
It was happening before IOS 8 was launched

    Hello there William Malmesbury,
It sounds like your Contacts app seems to be losing your contacts phone numbers, but the rest of the information is fine. If you don't already have a backup, I would create one either with iCloud or iTunes, or even both:
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you use iCloud I would use these steps from the following article:
    Get help using iCloud Contacts
See if a contact is stored with iCloud or another service, such as Google or Yahoo:
Open Contacts and tap Groups in the upper-left corner.
Deselect the All [account] option for any third-party, such as Gmail or Yahoo.
Make sure All iCloud is selected.
View your contacts. If the contact isn't visible, then it exists in a third-party account.
You can import the contact from a third-party service into iCloud. iCloud won't sync contacts that are associated with a different service.
You need to make sure that iCloud is your default account for Contacts:
If you want new contacts to appear automatically on your devices.
If you're syncing contacts with multiple accounts on your device (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo) and recent changes to Contacts on your iOS device don't appear on your other devices.
See if iCloud is your default account:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
In the Contacts section, tap Default Account.
    Make sure iCloud is selected.
    Restart Contacts
Close and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:
    iOS 7:
Double-click the Home button to see your open apps.
Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up to close the app.
Press the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute, then reopen the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
    Turn Contacts off.
You can choose Delete from My [device] if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep on My [device].
Wait a few minutes, then turn Contacts back on.
    Restart your device
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the slider when asked to power off. Turn your device back on.
If not, I would start by quitting all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • How can I get my iphone to stop losing the signal?

How can I get my iphone to stop losing the signal?

Thanks for the tip.  If only I could find somewhere where I did not lose the signal.
I am based in the United Kingdom. The carrier is Orange.
I lose the signal inside buildings and outside of buildings.  It happens at work and at home.  It happens in Centarl London in the open air and inside.  It happens in small towns.. It happens in the countryside.  It happens in motor cars.  It happens in airports.  It happens when the battery is fully charged, when it is half charged and when it's low on charge.  It happens using the phone, when reading messages and when using the internet.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3GS failed to power on!!!

Gosh! my iPhone 3GS failed to power on today after upgrading to the latest version firmware~ I've tried to reboot and gave it a hard reset (Home Button+Sleep Button), but it's not working... I totally can't swith it on! Plug it into PC and also charger, still nothing happen after 30 mins... Anyone has this issue? I felt that iPhone 3GS is not running iOS 4 smoothly~ cause my calls drop often, usually 5 mins during a call... I saw many people are complaining about this drop call issue too~ Wonder when can Apple fix this~ Moreover! MR. Jobs took a medication leave today!!! How're we gonna expect a bug fix??

    DFU Mode
    Step 1: Launch iTunes.
Step 2: Plug your iPhone in your computer via the USB cable.
Step 3: Turn off your phone.
Step 4: Hold the Power and Home button together for exactly 10 seconds.
Step 5: After 10 seconds, release the Power button and keep holding the home button until iTunes tells you it has detected your iPhone.
Just as an FYI Steve Jobs does not actually do the "bug fixes" so I think you may be ok... there are a couple people still working at Apple.

  • I have a iPhone 3GS and the power connection prongs are damaged and it won't charge or sync.  Is there any way to repair?

I have a iPhone 3GS and the power connection prongs are damaged and it won't charge or sync.  Is there any way to repair?  Or, at least is there a way to charge so I can write down phone numbers and othe rinformation.  My power charge is totally out right now.

If it will not turn on - you have zero chance of getting anything off the phone.

  • Solution to restart your iPhone even if your power button is broken

"Enable Assistive Touch:  Tap SETTINGS, General, Accessibility, AssistiveTouch (near the bottom) and tap AssistiveTouch to ON.  You will now notice a small dark square with a circle in the middle (you can move this square anywhere).  Tap the dark circle to open the assistiveTouch menu, then tap Device and tap and HOLD the Lock Screen icon.  This will bring up the iPhone's Power-Off slider - no need for a power button any longer!  **Voted Best Method to turn off an iPhone with a broken power button"
and to restart just keep on charging your phone would start.
    cheers guys have fun..

    Yes.

  • HT201210 iphone 5c will not power on, will not restore.

    iphone 5c will not restore.
The apple symbol will appear when I do a hard reset (pressing the power button and circle button), but will not restore.
Connected to iTunes to restore, I would get error 9.  Tried a different USB cord, still no luck.
Purchased this phone on ebay.  As far as I know the phone has no water damage and has not been dropped.  Worked perfectly for about a week.

try to reboot the iphone by holding the power button and home button at the same time, then when the apple logo comes out release it and it should be fine.

  • IPhone 4 won't power up. What should I do?

I turned my iPhone 4 off earlier tonight because the display seemed to freeze up. It has been working fine. Now it will not power up. What can I do to get the phone to power up?

  • My iphone 3g has no power......

My iphone 3g has no power.  I haved tried the reset, it is fully charged and plugging it into itunes does not help as it has no power.
    Please help me :-)

To kick your device out of restore mode, kindly do the following steps and let me know if they worked
Disconnect your iphone from your computer.
Hold down the power and home button again for 20 seconds, or so.
Then, a silver apple logo will appear.
Let go of the power button only and keep holding the home button pressed for about 5 seconds.
Then let the home button go, wait for a few more seconds(20 secs.) and hopefully your phone will come back to life

  • Did 8.1 upgrade on iphone 4S, phone went to recovery mode and lost all data

Today October 26th I was prompted for 8.1 upgrade to fix minor bugs. Did 8.1 upgrade on my iphone 4S, phone went to recovery mode and lost all data. I see an itunes icon with a charger pointing  to it on the screen. I plugged the pphone to the laptop and get is itunes detected iPhone in recovery mode, you must restart the phone before you update ...and the download is taking 5 hours and i have 320 mbps download speed
Apple thinks i have an older phone and need to throw it and buy their new iphone 6. if thats the case, here is my middle finger... am going with some other OS

Apple doesn't care if you buy a newer phone or not.  Apple doesn't need your new iPhone purchase.  There are millions of people that have properly working older iPhones that voluntarily upgrade.
Your device crashed, and it could have been caused by any number of root causes, many of them not controlled by Apple.  Third party app, interruption of internet connection, interruption of power, etc.
If you came here to give the middle finger to Apple (childish behavior by the way), you're in the wrong place.  Go to www.apple.com/feedback.

  • My iPhone 5 continues to power off and on every 10 seconds

My iPhone 5 continues to power off and on every 10 seconds. It'll turn on, the apple icon appears, it then goes to my lock screen pretty quickly, then shuts off and does it all over again. How can I fix this? If I have backed up my phone to iCloud will I lose things like my notes and pictures?

    Hey kenziephipps,
To make sure we are on the same page, you cannot keep your phone powered on as it turns off right after you see the slide to unlock screen after booting up. I would advise to try to restore your iPhone by following the steps in the article below. To answer your second questions, you should have it all backed up in iCloud like you said you did unless you made changes to what is backed up. With that if you did not make any changes you will have it backed up.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • HT4061 My iphone 4 will not power on. What should I do?

My Iphone 4 will not power on.  What steps should I take and in what order?

    Hi,
Could you please answer these questions for me?
    - Is the phone charged (You never know...)
    - Have you recently dropped your phone?
    - Has your phone recently come into any conatct with water?
Try charging it and then holding the Sleep button (The one on the top) and the home button at the same time for a few seconds and see if it does anything!
If this doesn't work, try plugging it into your computer and see if you get any response from it, for example, if the computer reconizes the phone or not.
We need to detirmine whether it is a fault with the display or if it is a technical problem in the phone (If you have dropped it or any water has gotten inside etc)
Because it is an iPhone 4 I doubt you will have any warrenty on it now, so if it needs repairing I am afraid you will have to pay for it! You could either take it into apple or you could take it to a 3rd party phone repair company.
    Hope this helps =)
    Thanks
    Max

  • HT201401 phone wont power on

    phone wont power on

    Hi Friend,
Try to change the USB power cord to another one.
Check if the power cord is well placed in iPhone. Because you need to force the power cable into the iPhone to put in, be sure you are forcing enough the cable in.
    Hope it helps

  • My iPhone 5 has no power

    Hi Guys!
    I need help!
Situation: My iPhone 5 is in 7% power/battery last night so I charged it before going to bed. After waking up, it has no power. Tried hard reset/reboot but to no avail. Home and sleep/wake button working perfectly fine.
Please advise, my warranty will expire on December 12, 2013. Can I replace the unit because it is completely dead.

    Hi nocool,
When troubleshooting power issues, the following article provides the most relevant information:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
If you believe there is a hardware issue with your device after attempting the above, see the iPhone Service Answer Center.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
