IPhone 4S power button not working (feels stuck)?

I have an iPhone 4S and the power button isn't working. It seems stuck and I can't turn my phone on and off. Does this qualify for a replacement? Also, does apple still replace the iPhone 4S in 64GB (my current model)? Thank you! I'm new here on the forums so I hope I picked the right category for this question.

Hello angelbite11687,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue with your lock/unlock button.
Sleep/Wake button won't lock or unlock iPhone
To lock the phone, press the Sleep/Wake button. Note: By default, if you don't touch the screen for a minute, iPhone locks automatically.
To unlock iPhone, press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then slide the slider.
If either of the above steps don't work, try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the iPhone will not power off, reset it.
Try to lock or unlock the phone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Iphone 5 power button not working!! They have replacement program for months but why they dont email you and say it??

I have had iphone 5 and have never been happy and i think apple is not leading the technology and future of market anymore as they are lowering quality of their products(even hardware). I had to change first iphone 5 i had because of wireless issues and then i had battery problem  and had to charge 3 times a day and finally after 2 years i bought they decided that its faulty and they decide to change it. Luckily enough i read it on an online tech magazine and after googling i see that they have had replacement for power button as well which i am eligible for as well!! i go to genius bar and they replace battery but they dont replace power button cause they examine it and passes till the audio dock test! It connects to charder dock or cable but it doest to audio test dock and he says one off the pins inside is not right but it charges perfectly with every cable in the store!! And i tell him that they have to change power button not the charging pin cause it doesnt make sense!! Its a faulty product and maybe if they emailed and said it nearly a year ago my pin was right then!!  so i think they found a silly reason not to change it and so i am struggling with that phone and brand  that i hate(once i used to love)!

And I don't know what these guys are talking about? I have an unsolved hardware issue and I posted here!
This is a user-to-user technical support forum. This is not AppleCare. You are not addressing Apple here. No one here can help you resolve your customer service issue with Apple. Use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for information on how to contact Apple directly. When you talk to them, I'd suggest not using profanity. It makes people less likely to help you.

  • IPhone 5 power button not working

My warranty expired in November for my iPhone 5, and lately my power button is not working as it should. The right side is completely unresponsive and the left side works occasionally. Can I get my iPhone replaced or repaired, as this seems to be a defect in the iPhone 5?

    The answer is, "yes."
Using the information you provided, you are out of warranty so there will be some cost to you.  I'm sure you'd like to revisit your decision to not extend the one-year warranty with AppleCare + for two years.  Nothing, including iPhones is designed to last forever.  That's what warranties are for.

  • Iphone 5 power button NOT Working anymore.

The power button of my Iphone 5 is not working properly. What i mean by that is i have to push the power button REALLY REALLY hard to get it to work. I am worndering can i take it to Apple and have them replace it for me? I had have my Iphone 5 for a little more then a year and my warrenty is out of date. Anyone kno if i can still get a replacement?  Bought the iphone5 couple of months after it came out, full price out the door and using it for T-mobile

I have been experiencing the exact same issue...it will work sometimes and other times I have to press it multiple times or extremely hard.
There is a hardware warranty that should still be in effect for you...definitely worth calling about ASAP.
Apparently there is 90 days left on mine, and I bought my iPhone 5 the week it was released.
They said to definitely bring it into the Apple store and as it is a hardware issue they are replacing it....i will let you know the official outcome after my Genius appointment.

  • IPhone 5s Power Button Not Working

I just got a new iPhone 5s and about a week ago the power button started not to work. I have no idea why.
    Thanks,

Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Iphone 5 Power button not working once in a while?

About 5 times a week, the power button doesn't work. Sometimes I have to press it like 10 times for it to turn on. I brought it to the apple store and they said to bring the phone back to them when it happens again. So today it happend again so I just left my phone alone for the whole day, but before I went to the store, I pressed the power button again, it worked again. SO I cant bring it back to the store!!! Its really annoying when the power button doesnt turn once in a while and I can't exchange my phone at the store because it happens randomly and I have no evidence!

    Hi Exageras,
I know exactly what you mean ... it's frustrating when you can't always reproduce the issue ...
I have a few suggestions for you to try ....

This article is a good overview, but the section that I specifically want you to look at is ...
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
The steps to Restoring your iPhone if needed, are:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
    Before restoring:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes.
    Back up your device.
Transfer and sync content to your computer.

  • IPhone 5 Power Button not working anymore, can I get a replacement?

My iPhone 5 is still in warranty and I was wondering if I can get a replacement at the apple store as soon as possible if I take it in? Or if I would need to send it in for repair?
Do I need to take all accessories in as well? What if I don't have the earphones?
    Thanks

Apple do not repair they exchange for a refurbished device
You will lose your handset and no accessories are required you get a brown box service replacement just the iphone
Do a complete backup as your handset will go  and all is over the counter ,make an appointment to avoid  a long wait
All this assumes it is faulty and no user damage

  • Power button not working with 7.1 update

Power button not working with 7.1 update

I take it your phone was still under warranty then?!
Unfortunately I was not so lucky, and my experience was rather poor service-wise. They're called Apple Geniuses but I beg to differ...
I'm not sure where in the world you are located, but my "experience" involved visiting the Leeds store and confusing everyone with this issue. I can tell you, just by the looks on their faces, they had never been faced with this problem before!
I suggested my phone was rolled back to the version it was previously to establish whether this was the underlying issue. I was asked whether my phone had been backed up and as it had the "genius" proceeded to restore the phone "as it came out of the factory" to quote him.
When this was completed the phone was still doing the same thing and I was advised "the software update must have highlighted a hardware issue." I was told it would have to be physically repaired and was told to have this done by a third party as Apple would charge approximately £160. Incidentally, I work in IT and repair PC's, laptops and mobile devices for a living and made a point of raising that a sleep/wake button ribbon cable for an iPhone 4S can be bought on eBay for as little as £3.00...if indeed it does need replacing, which I suspect it does not.
Anyway, so now I was left with a phone for the rest of the day which was blank and still the problem remained. On the train, on the way home, you can then imagine my disbelief when I actually took the time to look at my phone's configuration and realised that iOS version 7.1 was still installed, so obviously the issue would still remain. So the visit to the "genius bar" was a complete waste of time as I'm still in the very same position, and I still blame the 7.1 update for this...let's home 7.2 is released very shortly and this solves the issue...
I have downloaded the package to roll the version back to 7.0 but I'm a little reluctant to carry this out yet as I would expect Apple to so the issue they have caused. This is NOT hardware related but software.
I seriously think Android is calling me...

  • HT1688 Power button not working

Power button not working on iPhone 5

This is a defect on iPhone 5 power button that wears out in about 13-14 months of usage just after you go out of warranty. Apple is aware of this issue but chooses not to accept this as a defect. I asked the Genius bar guy and they told me this is a common case recently and costs $269 to replace your phone. There is no repair option. I am very mad and believe Apple needs to take action or will lose their customers. All iPhone 5 owners that I know started having this problem in the month of 13 -14.
I believe if the numbers go high, Apple may start a recall program. Please encourage anyone with this problem to post here. $700 phone should not wear out this soon. Apparently the part is defective on almost all iPhone 5 devices.

  • Iphone 4 Home button not working after upgrade to OS 4.3.5

Iphone 4 Home button not working after upgrade to OS 4.3.5.Please help!!!!!!!!

It seems that settings of mail accounts have something to do with it. I've delete my gmail account and am now using Microsoft Exchange. It seems better, yet not perfect. The issue is definitely due to OS 4.3.1
Apple answer is - no answer. It is a shame that the quality of their products, in terms of design and concept, is not match by a care for customers. It is not normal that I, as a customer, have to spend hours reading Apple Discussions forum to try to understand what the problem is. A little more respect for a customer that spend big $$$ buying their products wouldn't hurt.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
    Regards.

Any ideas? how long is warranty?

The standard warranty is one-year. Yu can purchase, before the one-year is up and additional year. Yu can check your coverage here:
