IPhone 4S Power button

Hi there,
A family member of mine has given me an iPhone 4S with slight scuffs and scratches to the housing, worst of all the power button doesnt click anymore.
I was wondering if I could exchange the phone for a new/refurbished one for a slight fee? and would I have to book an appointment at the genius bar?

You should make an appointment with the Genius bar and let them take a look at the iPhone it could be a simple repair.

It is unlikely but you can atleast try they might set it up for free but expect an email about paying 269 for physical damage

My guess is with dents, they are going to tell you the damage voided the warranty

My iPhone 4 power button is stuck down, and it won't come back up. The next best part is, my phone is either off or dead i don't know which, and i plug it into my computer/wall charger and nothing happens.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

This will be covered for free under Apple Warranty. Until you do this, a software workaround is a Virtual Lock Button in Assistive Touch on iPhone. Tap Settings App>General>Accessibility>Assitive Touch>ON>Tap new Virtual White Screen Button>tap Device> tap Lock Screen. If you hold down on the Lock Screen Icon it will give you the "slide to power off". To turn iPhone ON, connect to Power Source with USB Cable, via Charger or Computer USB Port.

I have an issue with my power button on my iPhone 5.It works perfectly sometimes and sometimes it doesn't .I have to press it 2,3 times to get it work .I took it to the Apple store and it worked perfectly there so they said they can't replace it unless they see the problem and they are right . You can try calling an Apple support number for your location: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and see if they can help. Otherwise, when it starts acting up take it to an Apple store genius bar.
But try the support line first and see what help they offer.
