  • IPhone 3GS power problem. Ideas?

I've been having a really odd problem with my iPhone and power. If I plug into the wall adapter in any outlet anywhere, the phone will cycle in and out of charging AND the touch screen goes bezerk. Meaning if I touch one area of the screen it actually responds in a completely other area, if at all
This happens with any charger plugged into AC. I've tried 2 apple ones and a Kensington.
Now if I plug it into any other power source like the car or computer, it charges and behaves normally.
So I'm at a loss on this. I have about 3 months left on my AppleCare if I need to use it, but somehow I think Apple will think I'm nuts! Quite frankly I thought I was until I was able to repeat it over and over in different places.
    Ideas??

Doing a restore will eliminate a software issue if it's still doing it after the restore.

  • IPhone 4 - Power problem! help needed...

My iphone 4 has a power issue.
It was originally dropped in water! was left off for 2 weeks in very warm conditions, was dried out with both the Rice method! and the silica gel method.
The problem is this, the phone will power up (have noticed i have to hold the power button down alot longer than i use to) when the screen comes on, i put it into standby (black screen by pressing power button quickly) and the phone will stay powered up all day long as normal. BUT when i want to USE the phone and the screen is lit up it will only be powered up for exactly 4 mins - then the screen dies and the iphone reboots itself. It will do this all the time unless i leave it in standby mode.
I have tried numerous restores both in restore and DFU mode, with 4.1 and 4.2.1 Firmwares. Im very aware and competent when it comes to iphone but I dont have a clue whats causing this problem! Maybe a hardware problem, but what can be wrong that will only allow me to use the iphone for 4 mins! ???

    Maybe a hardware problem?
As you should know, water and electronics don't mix. If there was hardware damage as a result of your iPhone being dropped in water and apparently there was, it doesn't matter how long your iPhone was dried out without powering it on and using it and if it was completely dry when powering it back on.
Don't know what the hardware damage and problem is - impossible to know and determine this for certain without running a diagnostic check on the iPhone, which can be done at an Apple store.

  • HT4623 Iphone 5 power problem

Tried everything and cannot power iphone5 up.

Charging for 30 minutes, holding down power button, holding down power and home button for at least one minute, connecting to computer.  Unfortunately, when trying to connect to computer, the computer does not recognize it like it does when normally connected.  I checked the USB port with my Ipad, which my computer recognizes.  I had this problem before a couple of times, and the power/home hold always worked.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • IPhone 4s Sync problems to iTunes on Win 7

I have my iPhone 4s and iTunes set up for WiFi syncing.
I plug the iPhone into power, have iTunes up on the same network.
But I never see the iPhone show up under Devices.
Then I tried connecting the iPhone via USB to Windows/iTunes.
It is identified by Windows. But still not by iTunes.
    Restarted iTunes. Restarted AppleMobileDeviceHelper.
    Finally connected.
Here is some of the log from AppleMobileDeviceHelper:

    Any ideas?

I disabled the builtin WiFi adapter for my HP desktop (Ralink).
Then used a Buffalo USB WiFi adapter.
Since I made that change I haven't had any problems getting my iPhone to connect to iTunes.

  • Possible iphone 5 power shortage

When I go to charge my iPhone five it continuously connects and disconnects from the charger (on its own) and when I plugged it into my MacBook it will not allow it, saying that the USB is using too much power. Any ideas what is going on?

This is a defect on iPhone 5 power button that wears out in about 13-14 months of usage just after you go out of warranty. Apple is aware of this issue but chooses not to accept this as a defect. I asked the Genius bar guy and they told me this is a common case recently and costs $269 to replace your phone. There is no repair option. I am very mad and believe Apple needs to take action or will lose their customers. All iPhone 5 owners that I know started having this problem in the month of 13 -14.
I believe if the numbers go high, Apple may start a recall program. Please encourage anyone with this problem to post here. $700 phone should not wear out this soon. Apparently the part is defective on almost all iPhone 5 devices.

WTH? Seriously?!?! Same issue here: Purchased iPhone 5 in Sep 2012. Power button went wonky shortly after recent iOS 7.0.4 install. Figured power button issue was a software bug. Been a loyal Apple customer (2009 Mac Pro, and several iPhones) since 2009. I will be looking elsewhere - at DIY water-cooled PC/Linux, and Android phablets - come August 2014. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Why doesn't my iPhone 5 power/lock button work?

I just called the apple support people and I had told them my issue of my iPhone 5 power/lock button being dis functional. I had also told them I went to the apple store in guilford mall surrey,bc I had a week left in my warranty at that point. When I went to the apple store i told the representatives that my battery was having some problems ( this issue was resolved) and I told the representative that my power button sometimes has a problem but not as much. The representative did not take this into consideration and told me " to not use my phone as rough ". At this point I had thought my main issue was to only get my battery issue resolved which was resolved, so I didn't really think about asking one more time about the power/lock button. 2 weeks after my warranty had expired I first called apple support telling them I am having many difficulties with my lock/power button. They told me at that point it would cost $260+tax to replace the phone. Then I told them that I have already talked to your representatives at the apple store in guilford mall surrey bc and that they didn't take it into consideration at that point. The apple care person told me "I'm sorry sir you could've have only gotten it replaced when you were still under warranty" and he said " the only option here is to restore your phone ( which I did and nothing changed) or replace your phone by paying $260+ tax. After I told them I would try going to the store again to resolve this disappointing issue. When I went in the store today I told the same thing I told to the representative over the phone and the store representative told me "sorry your appointment of coming before your warranty is not showing up on my system" then I pulled up an email confirming that I had actually come to the same apple store before my warranty had expired. He still didn't take anything into consideration and told me to just use the accessible touch or pay the amount to replace my phone  I am very disappointed because when I went before my warranty was about to expire the representative didn't advise me to get my phone replaced and simply didn't take my concern into consideration. I hope the manager of the store looks into this for the future customers and tries to resolve my issue. Thanks

After your appointment at the Genius Bar, you received an email asking for your feedback.  I suggest you copy these comments and paste them there.  Ranting here serves no purpose at all.

  • Iphone 4 power button is stuck down and iphone won't turn on

My iPhone 4 power button is stuck down, and it won't come back up. The next best part is, my phone is either off or dead i don't know which, and i plug it into my computer/wall charger and nothing happens.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • U160 power problem

    Hi,
My U160 has, what I believe to be is, a power problem. My USB mouse (or other USB device) most of the time works fine. On a different computer it always works fine. But, when I plug in additional USB devices (into one of the other ports), or when the internal fan starts up, I will get brief mouse freezes. This is really annoying. After these freezes start, even if the fan stops or if I remove the additional USB device, the mouse will continue to suffer these freezes. Other USB mice also have this issue. It happens on all three of the USB ports.
I have upgraded the bios with the December release. I am also running the power management software. This problem persists.
Has anybody else experienced this issue? Are there any recommendations for a resolution?
    I am running Win 7 pro X64.
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Here's a screenshot of a utility I use. It shows how much power a device is using plugged into a USB port.
    I'll get a link to the utility.http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard/versions-history.html
The only thing about this is I never tried the new version.  I always used the version from 2009 which came on a utility disc that I bought.
When it opens, click on ports.  The screenshot shows my iphone drawing 500ma and my external keyboard drawing 100ma.
    http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-USB-Port-Monitor/3000-2218_4-10508239.html
I found a trial version that works better.  Make sure you don't install the bogus toolbar.  This shows a true reading of what is drawing what.
You might also want to open Windows event viewer and see if there is anything weird going on there.

  • HT4623 iphone wont power up 4gs

    iphone wont power up

I had a similar problem with my IPhone4. I plugged it in to charge and it turned itself off and would not restart.
I took it to a genius bar but they couldn't get it to restart and were going to charge me for an exchange as it was out of warranty.
I tried on and off, lots and lots of times to reset it and after 4 days it suddenly restarted but with a very low battery warning. I then charged it up and managed to get it working again, although it shut itself down a few more times over the next couple of days it and I had to reset it. The last time was very strange - I was listening to music when the phone suddenly started to vibrate for several seconds as if it was receiving an incoming call and locked up. I had to do another forced reset to get it to stop vibrating.
Since then the phone has been working completely normally.
This was over three weeks ago.
I think it was a software issue and something to do with ICloud.
    Hope this helps

i was using same id on 2 iphones with no problems suddenly everything got mess, how can i set a new id w.out losing my contacts?

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered
    Go here > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Manage your Apple ID and see if that does the trick
    Hope that helps
