IPhone 4s refurbished question

I have had my iPhone4s for under a year & today my power button got stuck. I booked an appointment, but I was wondering, if they were to give me an refurbished iPhone, can I refuse & ask for mine to be fixed?
But if they can't fix it, will I have to pay for a refurbished iPhone? I am also still under warranty!

If it is a problem covered under the warranty, no.

  • How apple support my iphone who ever my serial is replaced and  how i know my iphone is refurbished  ??

Hi everyone! I have iphone 4s, which was my friends bought it from canada appstore about 1 month before and has serial number DQ*******TDD and IMEI ****. When i try to check warranty on the page https://selfsolve.apple.com/wcResults.do i see
We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us.
And if i try to enter IMEI here i see
Our records indicate that this product has been replaced. Please provide the serial number for your replacement product to find the support and warranty coverage information. For more information, please contact us.
Does it means, that I was bought a non exist iPhone? Or it was refurbished? I need an official answer to take them to seller because I was bought iPhone as a new.
How I know my iphone is  refurbished?
    Thank you.
answers that i folow up and find are :
    - Did you purchase the device from Apple or an authorized reseller? If not, then you were scammed.
    - It means you bought a gray market phone that was replaced, reported lost, or reported stolen, then re-sold illegally. It has no warranty and Apple will not service it with an out of warranty replacement.
    - If your phone was replaced, it was most likely refurbished.
    - You cannot tell the difference between a refurbished phone and a new one.
    - check your serial number if its starts with 5K then its refurbished model
Not true. All it does is identify it as 'service stock'. It may be refurbised, or it may be new. There is no way for you, or even someone at an Apple Store, to tell the difference.
6 - You bought a phone that was stolen, lost, or taken in for repair and then re-sold illegally. get your money back if you can.
If there is ever a hardware problem that requires service, you will most likely not be able to get it serviced or replaced by Apple.
7- During the refurbishment process the devices are assigned a new serial number.
8- This means that your iPhone was replaced by Apple and you entered the serial number for your old iPhone which was replaced.
9- That means that particular phone has been replaced under warranty. Where did you get the phone from? If it was used, the previous owner may have had it replaced and not returned it to Apple as they were supposed to and sold it.
10-  Interpreting what you postd, it would seem you had the device replaced at some earlier stage.  Apple doesn't repair but instead replaces the whole unit with a refurbished unit which has its own serial number. Whatever the case, you will have to see Apple about the matter.
11-  white box (new) or a brown box (refurb)
    now my questions :
how i know my iphone is refurbished and how apple support my iphone who ever my serial is replaced ??

How can I know my device is refurbished or new one??Can I check my device is refurbished or new with serial number?

Icloud or itunes backup, only backs up app data, not the app itself.
so if you restore as new, then there is no app data on your phone, you start out new...

No, if you are using the Music app you are playing them on your iPhone.

  • Unlock carrier locked iPhone(perhaps refurbished

    Hello,
    I've purchased a used iPhone 3GS 16gb 2 years ago.
The person selling the phone said that it was carrier locked to 3 in Denmark but it turned out that it was possible to use it with 3 in Sweden( where I live) as well. However when restoring it I need to start it up with a pre-paid 3 sim-card from Denmark, after that the Swedish one works fine.
Since the 2 year time period for unlocking must have expired I now thought about unlocking it, however when I contacted 3 in Denmark they couldn't find the IMEI number in their system...
So my question is could this be a refurbished phone? If so how can you then unlock it if the carrier can't find the IMEI number in their systems?

That may be because you have a Swedish sim in the iPhone ( if I followed your changes correctly )
All carriers need to see the iPhone active on their system before they can unlock
Must admit I haven't come across any time limit for unlocking
put the Danish sim in use it in or by the  Danish mainland and they will then probably see it

  • 2 iphones single PC questions from a yet to be iphone4 noobie

    Hi everyone.
I have a series of questions regarding sync issues and hope I will not be too much of a hassle.
I ordered 2 iphone4 devices for me and my wife due to arrive this weekend. While waiting for them, I started to research on possible problematic issues checking almost every possible topic on Google, downloaded the iphone4 guide and read thru and still got stuck with syncing.
_Below is a summary of what I've done._
*MAIN :* We have 2 Nokia phones and want to use my Mac Mini to handle all syncs for both.
*iTunes :* We both have separate accounts. She never used hers, just getting ready.
Apps: I downloaded some apps with mine, she didn't and we will be using a number of same apps.
*Media :* We probably will load only pictures on our iphones. Definitely no music.
*Contacts :* No Mobile Me. I synced my contacts via iSync to Address Book to combine with Entourage. With Adress Book, I tried to create 2 separate groups for each phone. Messed around with Address Book, got all my contacts deleted from Address Book AND phone.
The only backup I had was in my wife's netbook (XP) back from September. Reloaded them, missing all additions in between, got cold feet and stopped syncing all together.
_What I have learned from my research & my questions:_
    1) As far as I know, the best solution is to create a separate account for my wife with my Mac. She will only use my PC to sync. (Doesn't want to do it with her netbook because she will get a Mac Book in 2 months and doesn't want to hassle with it) Is creating a separate account the best way to go or is there a simpler solution?
    2) When we are syncing via iTunes, I will disable auto sync. Both iphones will have their separate distinctive names and I can separate the apps to be transferred to each phone. Is this correct?
    3) Now with contacts, I am scared to death. From what I know, I need to transfer the contacts to Address Book, sync w/ Entourage and load them on the new phones via iTunes.
Biggest question is how do I separate the two separate databases? Do I create 2 groups in Address Book? If so, how do I create different contact databases in Entourage, merge them with the corresponding groups from Address Book to create 2 separate combined datagroups to be synced to each iphone?
Also, how do I define iTunes settings to retrieve these separate datas from Entourage?
Sorry to keep this post long and I hope that I've been able to explain my concerns clearly.
Thank you in advance for your time and concern.
    Sincerely

    deggie - One last question.
New user account is set. iTunes settings on both accounts are ready. Existing phone contacts are synced with relevant Address Books and backed up in the netbook. Looks like we are good to go for the iphones. Except libraries.
Before I opted for the double user option, I created a 2nd iTunes library for my wife and downloaded her applications there.
Now, when I log into my wife's account and open iTunes, the apps section is empty. I click Preferences/Advanced and try to change the location for iTunes files, but Mac won't allow me. The folder that has wife's iTunes library is marked with a no-entry sign and doesn't allow me to choose it.
I logged back to my account, went Music/iTunes 2 (wife's library) then right-clicked, chose Get Info, checked shared folder option. Then logged in to wife's account and tried to change the library location again. Still that red no-entry sign.
How can I move her apps to her new iTunes library?

  • Spam filtering solution for iPhone and a question.

I've read a lot of posts about spam filtering for the iPhone and have yet another solution and a question. I use SpamSieve and I am not affiliated with them in any way. The nice thing about SpamSieve is that if it is the first rule in your Mail.app rule set any mail that follows has already been filtered. All you need to do then is create another rule that redirects email to what ever mail account you choose. Since my ISP allows multiple accounts, I will simply create an iPhone@myISP account.
Now the question. Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?
    Thanks

Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?
    not at present time

  • Getting wife a new iphone..backup questions

Not too good in using itunes.  My wife has an iphone and my limit to itunes is putting some songs on my ipod.
I want to surprise my wife with a new iphone this week and before I get her a new one I want to make sure I save all of her content and most importantly phone numbers because I actually want to clear it out before going to the verizon store because I want to transfer her old iphone to my daughters # and have her start using it.
So I guess my questions are...
How do I first backup all of my wife's content on her phone (phone numbers and photos) ?
After I back it up is there an easy one step process to clear the phone out of everything so I can have my daughter start using it?
Once I bring the new phone home, how do I get the phone #'s onto it that I backed up previously?
Once I transfer her old phone to my daughter do I need to rename the phone or anything since they both use the same computer but have different itunes accounts?

To get the phone number displayed in the notification ar you could try the following
Settings - Phone - My Number

  • IPhone pre-order question.

I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 to be picked up at the Apple Store in my area. I chose the 32G like I did last year, but I've never used more than 12G at one time, so I think it's a waist to get the 32G, so I'm wanting to know when I pick up my iPhone 4 32G, can they change it to the 16G? I've tried calling the Apple Store and Apple's main line and apparently they don't staff enough people to take calls when it gets busy. Apple's main line won't even let you wait to speak to a representative. If anyone knows the answer to my question, please respond.

Most likely they will not be able to answer your question now. I would think they will be willing to give you the 16 GB instead of the 32 GB you pre-ordered, but it's going to depend on the available stock in whatever store you're picking up at, at the time you get there. If they've sold out of the 16 GB model, then can't change your order.

  • Iphone facebook chat question

I just bought the iphone 4 yesterday so i really dont know much about it. the question i have is with the facebook chat is there a way for the chat to save on there. cuz i was talkin to someone and than went to the main screen and went back in when they wrote back and what we previously talked about was gone. is there a way to save the chat on there. or exit the facebook app without closing it?

I'm not entirely clear on what exactly you are asking. I'll help you as best I can.
If you are in FB and get a vibration (someone initiated chat) and you go to the FB menu page and tap chat and enter the conversation you are chatting with that person. You can then tap the FB menu button and do other things like check your newsfeed/friends' pages/your profile, etc. As you are doing so you can continue to toggle between the chat and other functions within FB and your chat should remain.
However, I've noticed that if I press the home button and "close" FB and then return to FB...the chat is gone. My assumption would be it clears the previous chat out in order to not slow the iPhone down with multiple tasks constantly being performed without user interaction.
While the iPhone 4 multitasks, I don't believe you can actually "close" FB and return to the program to your previous chat.
**By close, I do not mean to log out of fb...just tapping the home button and being taken back to your home screen.
    Does this answer your question?

  • IPhone UK release question

Right, lets face it, I will be buying an iPhone when it comes out, the question is this, I am an existing O2 customer billing through CARPHONE WAREHOUSE. I have 8 months left running on my existing contract which is BELOW the cost of the lowest iPhone tariff.
So, does anyone know whether you will be able to SWAP you existing O2 tariff (billed via Carphone Warehouse) to an iPhone tariff of eqaul or greater value, obviously tying you into a new 18 month contract, I believe this can be done in the states with AT&T, thus meaning that I don't have to run two contracts at once...
PLUS - Are we looking at a 6pm launch, I believe like the states, or will we be able to purchase as of opening of stores on the 9th?

    To quote O2's website...
    Existing Customers
You'll need to start a new 18 month minimum term contract and pay for your iPhone handset but you can keep your existing number. So everyone will know it's you when you call them to brag.
If you were an O2 customer or upgraded before 18 September 2007
You can switch to an O2 tariff for iPhone without paying any remaining monthly charges on your existing contract.
If you joined or upgraded after 18th of September 2007
You have a choice, you can either:
Enter into a second pay monthly contract whilst keeping your existing contract; or
(ii) Start a new contract by paying a one-off transfer charge of £219 instead of the remaining monthly charges on your existing contract.
O2 Simplicity and O2 Pay & Go customers will not be required to pay any additional charges.

  • IPhone reception -technical question

Please don't ball me out if this is a dumb question - I love my iPhone and how it does everything except get good reception at my home. Most of the time I have zero bars. My previous Nokia phone ( also at&t) got a better signal here. So here's the question - does anyone know if the new iPhone will have the same antenna or a different one? I went to the at&t support site to chat with a technician about this but a lot of their site is down for maintenance.

Some believe that the plastic back will help improve reception. Since the phone hasn't been released yet, it's tough to say for sure.
