IPhone 4S - Reminders location services stuck on

Location services will not turn off even after shutting reminders down, only way to get the traingle off is to go into settings, location services and actually turn it off for reminders...
Anyone else having this issue???

It seems if you have any active location based reminders, location services will run and the triangle will appear. Makes sense if you think about it. Location based reminders need location services to determine where you are so it can determine if it should remind to do something based on where you are. It does this in the background and must display the icon per apple's policies regarding location services use. Once you mark your last active location based reminder completed, the icon goes away and presumably location services use stops.
The latest iPhone manual (based on iOS 5) talks about this briefly and states that location services are used less often when the device is locked.

No - restrictions are not on...
and  under privacy>location Services - just like before - I can´t change it here

  • I do not find Airdrop logo on my iphone also the location services are locked and cannot be changed.

I am using an iPhone 5S 64GB 7.1.2 version installed.
I do not find Airdrop logo on my iphone also the location services is locked and cannot be changed.

Have you tried a Reset: Hold down the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.
If that didn't work try a Restore from your backup in iTunes. If that fails Restore it as a new iPhone in iTunes.
And if all the above fail, you do not have an employer profile on your iPhone, and there are no Restrictions set, get it serviced.

  • IPhone 4s GPS/location services not working correctly in Maps

I have had an iPhone since the original, so I am not new to the way Maps works. Maps has been useless on my new 4s. It keeps pulling up locations from other states, or telling me I am at a location when I am 5-10 miles away. For example, I searched for Fireshouse subs ( I am in Florida) it found one match: Denny's in California?!? I searched for an autozone that I was a mile from and pulled one in Nebraska. Also, I can calulate a route, tells me I am 30 miles away, drive a mile, change start from Current Location, and then I am 10 miles away.... Is there a way to calibrate my GPS? This is very frustrating! thanks
(is iPhone 4S really not a product in the drop down selection Apple?)

Ok.. didn't need the 3 finger solute. I turned on Airplane Mode and left it there for 5min.
Once I turned Airplane Mode off and services came back I went back to maps and got the "Will you allow Maps to see your location... blah blah".
Now GPS services, both maps and loopt, working again. Maybe Airplane Mode OFF/ON reset/reconnected services? No idea, but I'm trackable again.
    Thanks for the quick replies.

  • Ok why doesn't find my iphone have a selection to turn back on location services? it only makes sense in the case that whoever stole ur ipad will turn it off.

ok so first off my ipad was stolen, it was all my savings since im a college student attending uci and now the art institutes. my ipad was stolen the other day and the first thing the culprit did was turn of location services. i had find my iphone installed and running and everything but they turned it off. there should be an update for find my iphone to turn location services back on in this case. or is it that apple is so money hungry even after making billions that they wish for me to buy another one as if im made of money? seriously? apple claims to take care of their consumers, yet i get the run around and so do thousands of other apple fans when it comes to stolen property, **** it should be part of ios to take advantage of the gps, wifi signal, cellular signal etc. to trace a apple product yet it's not even on apple's todo list? some customer service.

Sorry for your loss, but had you put a lock code on you iPad, the theif would not likely have been able to go in and turn off location services to begin with.  The sad truth however is, once an iPad/iPhone/iPod is stolen, it's pretty difficult to stop someone from getting away with it.  It's not Apple's fault and they can't be responsible for theft.  It's just a sad testimony to our society........And while your blaming Apple for your loss, just remember that No, Zero, Nada, electronics manufacturers get involved in theft.  Nor do cellular providers.  Theft is an issue for the police, not the manufacturer or service provider.

Follow these instructions to remotely remove Find My iPhone from your device:
Make sure the device is powered on and connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. Then follow these steps:
Sign in to iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to your account, then select the device to be removed.
Click the Erase button to erase all content and settings from the device. When prompted, don't enter a phone number or message. Click Next until the device is erased.
When the erase is complete, click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.
After the device is erased and removed from the account, you can proceed with the device setup process.
    Cheers,

  • TS4006 Can you remotely switch on location services from one device to another?

I have lost my iPhone with its location services switched off so when trying to use the find my iPhone facility it does not trace it displayijng the message Location services disabled. Can any one urgently help?

you shouldn't have to transfer the Apple Care because it is an insurance on the iPod
    No, it is not insurance.
and since it will cover stolen iPods
It does not cover replacement of a stolen iPod.
if should be transfered automatically because, also in theory, it is the same iPod.
There's no "theory" to it at all. It is the same iPod.
AppleCare is purchased for a specific iPod. The AppleCare stays with that iPod.

  • Even with restrictions on location services for icloud turn off

I have been on the forums a b-jillion times looking up this same question. Our phones (hubs and I 4 and 4s) continually turn off the "find my iphone" bit in location services. I have locked it in restrictions after turning it on-passcode locked it. I have tried everything multiple times and yet it still happens on both of our phones, though his more than mine! Now my phone is gone and I put an erase order in almost immediately as it was taken out of my car. It says it will happen the next time it is connected to the internet. I check icloud often...nothing. Then, fifteen days later someone is using my facebook acct! It still doesn't show up on icloud as ever erasing or connecting to the internet!! What the.....?

Hi there I was having the same issues myself an I know it can be a pain because its a real battery drainer. The tip I have that worked for me is I went to location services and one by one I turned off each individual apps location service until the arrow went off so I was able to quickly find the app that was causing the issues (allow about 5 or so seconds between each app after you turn if off) after you find the bad app you can go into that apps settings to try to fix it. Or for me the app never stopped searching my location even with the app fully closed. ( so I deleted the app ) I hope this tip helps out

  • Location Services option

I have a quick question about the GPS settings on the iphone (Settings > General > Location Services) if you turn it off or on.
My question is this: does turning it on lock your GPS position (and thus reduce your battery life) only when an application requests it or all the time. I am starting suspect that it is constantly on because I am getting near instant satellite lock times even when indoors. I dont want to be walking around all day draining what precious battery life i get!
A good comparison here is WIFI and Bluetooth, even if you are not connected to a wireless network or a Car-kit your battery will die far quicker if the option is switched on.

If you have location services turned on, then yes it is using your A-GPS chip, though not as heavily as if you have an app open that is using location services.
    I guess you'd say it's on and in a low power mode/state.
It's pretty much exactly like you said about Bluetooth how if you have it turned on and you don't have a device connected, it's still using power cause it's basically in a low power state waitin for a device to be connected.
As Apple themselves say if you want to extend your battery life and you are not using or you don't need location services for any of the apps that you currently have running then switch location services off.
This is because the iPhone's A-GPS chip is recieving power, even if it is in a low power state.
To put it simply, when it comes to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Location Services or even 3G ,(cause these are all battery drawing features), if you don't need it then turn it off and your battery will thank you for it.
    I hope this helps

  • HT4061 if the location service is off but the phone is online, may i able to locate where it is by the serial number or my apple ID?

if the location service is off but the phone is online, may i able to locate where it is by the serial number or my apple ID?
any one can show me a way, please help

No. The only way to locate it is with Find my iPhone. If location services is off, you can't locate it.

  • Super slow Location Services, especially current location in Maps.

Since updating my iphone software all location services applications are extremely slow, especially Maps. What can be done to fix this?

Well, as I already mentioned, the A-GPS in the phone uses cellular tower location to help fix your location. Fact is, this is not very accurate, that's why it looks for WiFi first. There's an international data base maintained by Skyhook that the phone uses to fix your location. Turn WiFi off & you lose the most accurate part of the assisted GPS.

  • IOS5 Reminders-iPhone has Location Service, iPad No?

    Hello all.
This is just to confirm, is there a difference between the Reminders app on the iPhone and on the iPad?
    On the iPhone
Can set reminder based on location. EG Leaving or Arriving at Current Location
Inside Location Services (Settings), Reminders is present
    On the iPad
Cannot set reminder based on location
Inside Location Services, Reminders is absent
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi.
    Yes it is.
Both Reminders on the iPhone and iPad gets sync.
But if location-based reminder is set on an iPhone, the same reminder just stays a reminder on the iPad, with no alarm anything.
The only difference is on iPad, you cannot set Location-based reminder.
Just check friend's iPad (iOS5) and his is the same - iPad's Reminders no location-based, so it's probably not a bug on mine.
You can check an iPad and find out.
    Cheers

  • Reminders not showing up in Location Services

My Reminders App is does not appear in Settings under Location Services and thus does not offer reminders when I arrive or leave a location.  Shouldn't Reminders have automatically appeared as an app under location services when I activated the phone?  Any solution on how to get it to show up so I can turn on location services for Reminders and thus get the app working correctly?

Another way to fix this without disabling Exchange reminders is to change the iPhone default calendar to a calendar other than the Exchange calendar. E.g. your iCloud calendar.
This also allows you to use location-based Reminders again, because new Reminders get created in the iCloud calendar instead of the Exchange calendar.
This does however mean that any new Calendar item (meeting etc.) created on the phone will by default be created in the iCloud calendar too unless you manually pick your Exchange calendar when creating a new Calendar item.
Some may find this annoying and prefer to stick to the simple solution of switching off Reminders. Note that this still means that all new reminders will be created locally on the iphone, or on icloud if you have an icloud account set up. Reminders will never show up for example in MS Outlook any more. The way around this would be to install Apple's iCloud application on your desktop and choose to display iCloud reminders in Outlook. This way you would then see your iCloud reminders from your iPhone in Outlook again! Phew.. what a workaround
