I saw different suggestions on settings but i saw nothing similar in my router settings.

  • IPod Touch (and iPhone) can't find Belkin N Wireless Router

I spent over an hour looking for an answer to this problem today and accidently found a solution - so am posting the answer.
Have a 2 year old Belkin N Wireless Router (model F5D8236-4v1) with SSID broadcasting on and WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK) security selected.
All the Windows laptops in the house could see the wireless SSID and could successfully log in after entering the WPA/WPA2 password.
Both iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS could NOT see the SSID. Also entering the wireless router IP address directly instead of the SSID did NOT work.
After an hour of looking for solutions on-line, including:
    - Tried no security
    - Tried WEP 64 and 128 bit security
then stumbled across a thread in a forum where someone referred to changing a "-" (dash) in an SSID name to a character. So tried this.
The old SSID name includes spaces - "name name1 name2". I deleted the spaces, and the problem was solved.
This Belkin router comes with a default name of BelkinN_WirelessXXXXXX, but does not say in the online help to NOT use spaces in the SSID name. And again, the Windows laptops could see the wireless Router while it had the SSID name INCLUDING the spaces in the name.
Hope this saves at least one person going through the same wasted hour.

Click on the blue arrow to the right of the network name, if IP address starts with "169." ,restart your router. It should connect properly after your router reboots in a minute or two.

  • I downloaded the soft wear update now my iPhone is running slow I'm haveing trouble connecting Wifi what can I do?

I Downloaded the new softwear update now my iPhone is running slow I'm haveing trouble connecting wifi what can I do!

"Not only did it download a new version of itunes, but it also downloaded MS Word updates, and other software that required updating."
MS Word is not an Apple product so it could not've downloaded with all the Apple software updates.
"I clicked File > Check for Updates"
What program were you running to do that?
In any case boot from your OS installer disk and run Repair Disk from Disk Uility.

My MAC MINI looses the wi-fi connection to a Belkin N wireless router when it goes to sleep or shuts down.  I have to re select the network when re starting or waking up the computer.  I think this just started with LION.  My iPod and iPad have no problem remembering the wireless network.

Thank you BGreg.  That is what I have been doing, and then it works just fine.  I think it was doing the same thing in the previous version of Lion.  I may be incorrect about that.  I upgraded to 10.7.3 a few weeks ago, and then last week I reloaded the combo update, hoping it would help.  Not so.  Thank you for letting me know it is a common problem.  I have tried permissions in Disk Utilities, and in Macaroni, both at least 4 times, plus numerous restarts.  Nothing Improves.  It still can not find the internet when it wakes up or gets up.

  • Connecting Westell 6100G to Netgear n300 Wireless Router

I've just purchased a netgear n300 wireless router.   My question is would I defintely need to set the Westell 6100G modem to bridge mode?  After I do that I simply connect the wireless router to the modem and then the router to the computer via one of the ports?  After that is done would I need to do anything else?   Would I be asked for my verizon login and password in order to get connected?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's recommended to bridge your modem as the modem itself does have an integrated router, even though it only has one Network port to connect up with. You have to split it up using a switch if you wish to really use it as a wired router. The reason why you bridge is so that your router holds your Public IP address rather than the modem. This avoids a condition known as "Double NAT" which game consoles dislike, VPNs tend to be iffy with, and Port Forwarding becomes a pain to do as you have to do it twice.
Yes, Bridge the modem. As far as the Netgear is concerned, if your modem reports that it is using PPPoE, the Username and Password you will need to use will be the master login you use for your DSL account. In the Netgear, it will auto detect that you use PPPoE in most circumstances however, it won't automatically pull your username and password. In some cases it may just connect right up if Verizon still does OpenPPPoE. Otherwise, if you're using a Setup program that came with the router it should ask you for your username or password to connect up. If not, Netgear has changed their firmware around in recent years, but in most cases it is under the Basic Setup or "Internet" section of your router for adding in a PPPoE username and password. The best place to look for this would be the user guide for your router. It should detail how to set up your connection based on what you're using.

  • How to use Airport Express to extend range in conjunction with Belkin N Wireless Router

I would like to know how I can extend the range of my Belkin N1 Wireless Router using the the Apple Airport Express? I saw a similar post to this question but the results talk about using this in conjunction with time capsule - I only have a Belkin router and the Airport Express.
If so, can someone help me to find out which settings/configuration I need to set of my Router and Airport Express in order the extend the range of my network.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you for your quick reply. Can you please expand upon how to set up the 'bridge' mode?
I tried connecting the AE via Ethernet from the Belkin router but was not successful in being able to get any additional coverage. I feel like I am missing a vital set of instructions with set-up/configuration details.
    Thanks again.

  • Belkin N1 Wireless Router

Just got a Belkin N1 Wireless Router. Will be setting it up tomorrow. Anyone who has done this, if you ran into trouble or special situations, please advise. Thanks

    Hi Mike,
I just got the Belkin N1 about a week and a half ago. I plugged it in and got online immediately. Yesterday, unfortunately, it kept losing the connection to the internet. No matter how many times I rebooted the computer, cable modem and router, it would not keep the connection for very long. I have no idea what the problem is. I plugged in my old Netgear and it worked right off the bat and keeps the connection, so I am guessing the problem lies with the Belkin.

  • Airport Express with Belkin N1 Wireless Router

I saw Airport Express and am very interested to buy this. However, before I proceed to buy, it would want to see if it can work with my Belkin N1 Wireless Router and how.
    Preferred setup is
DSL Modem <-> Airport Express <-> Belkin N1 Wireless <-> Laptop
    Can anyone advise
    1. Can Airport work with Belkin N1 Wireless Router?
    2. How do i setup the above configuration?
If this can work, I'm going to get one immediately!! =D

    Welcome to the discussions, Richard!
    Preferred setup is
DSL Modem <-> Airport Express <-> Belkin N1 Wireless <-> Laptop
The <-> is normally a display for an ethernet connection. The AirPort Express only has one ethernet port, and it will be used to connect to the DSL modem in your example.
So, it would not be possible to connect the Belkin device the AirPort Express using <-> ethernet.

  • Iphone 4s runs slower on ios7

Has anyone else noticed or felt their phone (4S in my case) runs slower than before and all because of downloading ios7?
If so, it seems a rum deal that a OS update should cause a product in good condition and cherished to be made less effective than before.
Sir Jonathan Ive should have thought that one through.......

My 4S ran great on iOS7.
I had some WIFI lag and poor range, but reset the network settings and all was good.

  • My iPhone 4s running slow

Safari and YouTube are running slow on 3G and wifi.HELP

Try resetting your phone by holding down Home and Power buttons, ignoring the power slider, until your phone reboots. This is a soft reset.

  • Problems with a Belkin N wireless router

    Weird problem I'm having.
Whenever I wake up my g4 powerbook from sleep, I can't seem to connect to the router despite having a full airport signal being displayed on my laptop. I have to "turn airport off", wait a few minutes and then turn it on again, 2 or 3 times before it connects again - despite the airport signal being at maximum strength. I also have an iPod touch which never has this problem and always connects first time. My laptop also has no problems connecting to other routers when on the move, just this one.
I did speak to Belkin who suggested the laborious process of changing the wireless channel until I find one that works well. I have the same problem on every channel. I'm beginning to think this is a specific problem between my router and my laptop as both components seem to be working in other pairings.

I have the same problem, but it's only one of the problems since 3.1 update:
    1. Wifi Problems, like described in this topic
    2.
Bluetooth disconnects after a few minutes from my car phone system, after another few minutes it reconnects.
    3.
My iPhone is very slow. If I press the home button then it needs about 5 seconds to show the unlock slider. then I will unlock, nothing happend and other 5 seconds later the phone unlocks. To open the sms application sometimes needs many seconds. sometimes it's not possible to unlock the iphone and I have to reboot it.
I hope apple will provide a bugfix quickly, before that I never had problems with my iPhone.

  • DSL Connection Very slow ONLY when using wireless router

My DSL connection was running super slow (approx 136 Kbs) - I disconnected the Linksys wireless router and plugged by DSL modem directly into the computer.  Then my internet speed increased to 1.4 Mbs (a 10 fold increase).
Any suggestions on how / why my speed drops so extensively when using the Linksys wireless routher (wrt45g).
    Thanks

Are you using the same test each time to measure the speed?
The reason I ask is that Windows usually reports its download speed in KB/sec (Kilobytes per second).  But most web (internet) speed tests report their speed in Mbps (Megabits per second.)
A 1.4 Mbps line will typically pass data at about 140KB/sec.
To help determine what kind of problem you are having, do the same speed test in 3 different ways:
    1)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your modem
    2)  Connect one computer, by wire, directly to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
    3)  Connect one computer, wirelessly, to your router  (all other computers and network devices should be off).
Report back your results, and also, please state what line speed you are paying for.  Once we have this, we will hopefully be able to help you.

  • Why is my iphone 3g running slow?

My antiquated iphone 3g is running apps very, very slow.  Is there help for this or am I stuck until I can buy a new phone?

are you up to date with the siftware?
do you have a lot of memory left?
have you tried a hard reset? a reset network settings? a restore?
all can be done to try to resolve the issue, try those first before giving up
