IPhone 4S's battery life

Hi,
This morning I put my iPhone on Do Not Disturb mode and silent, the battery was at 78%. That was 0900.
Then when I was leaving at 03:15 the battery life was at 8%.
Is this normal?
Thanks.
Aidan

It depends on how long you've had the phone. Batteries are pretty tricky. Here, maybe this article will help. http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

  • Updated new iphone 4s and battery life is poor

Since I upgraded my new iphone 4s the battery life has become really poor. As soon as its unplugged its lost life!
Is this going to be fixed?

Depending on the settings for your social media apps, your usage can very. If, for example, Facebook is checking the status to often, your battery is more likely to be drained. Same for mail and other push/fetch services.
Sometimes it helps to delete the account and set it up again, there have been cases in which those apps got stuck trying to connect to their servers.
If you restored the phone from the latest backup you made, did you reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for at least 10sec, until the Apple logo came back again?

  • IPhone 4S: Poor Battery Life

After I got my iPhone 4S the battery life has been really bad compared to my iPod Touch. It does anyone have any suggestions? Yes i have tried restoring the software and setting it up as a new phone.

You can't compare the iPhone's battery life to an iPod Touch - apples and oranges.

  • IPhone 4S short battery life after iOS 5.1

The battery of my iPhone 4S started to discharge more quickly after I downloaded iOS 5.1, but before it was OK. My location services, notifications, push and wi-fi are all off, but even if I don't use my phone, the battery life is shorter than it was before. Please help me with this issue! What can I do?

I am very sorry, but what do you mean by switching off the data connection completely? You mean switch off the wi-fi function? Sorrry, I just didn't get..

  • When/how to charge the iPhone for optimal battery life?

I have an iPhone 3G 8GB. I was just wondering what the best way to go about charging the iPhone is, in order to optimise the battery life?
Should you wait until the iPhone is really flat/ low battery and then charge it up full, or are smaller and more frequent 'shallow' charges healthier?
I also heard somewhere that every couple of months or so it is a good idea to let the battery run completely dead and then charge it up, in order to calibrate it or something... but that doing this too often could be detrimental.
Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated! I don't know if I should let my iPhone run really low before charging it or if smaller more frequent chargers are the way to go.
    Thanks!

Thanks! I did read over that and have taken the steps mentioned and fiddled around with settings of my phone to optimise use. I was just wondering if anyone else had anything else to add about charging habits specifically and what works best... I think mainly I'm just being paranoid about my phone dying prematurely since it's the first time I've owned such an expensive gadget!
Also, can you overcharge it? Is it bad to leave it on the charger overnight? I've done some searching in other threads/ webpages and there seems to be some discrepancies but for the most part people seem to think that it will be fine?

  • IOS 8.3 is draining my iPhone 6 Plus battery life. how to downgrade to iOS 8.2?

I never changed my mobile phone using habits. All that changed recently is my iPhone 6 Plus getting an iOS 8.3 update. I noticed my battery life draining quicker than the usual. It used to still have enough juice to last me until midnight, now by lunch time i am already at 63%!
    Anyone experiencing this?
Know the proper legitimate way to downgrade from iOS 8.3 to 8.2? Prefer to have longer battery life than have this updated 8.3 in my phone. I don't feel the benefits of the upgrade to begin with.

The rate of battery loss is still slowly accelerating. At this rate I expect less than 8 hours usage time.
I wrote a review of my new iPhone 6 Plus here and brought up the issue:
    http://lerner.net/dougs-review-of-his-new-iphone-6-plus-first-day-impressions/
If anybody has any ideas, or comparative battery life results, please let me know.

  • HOT iPhone and poor battery life after 1.14 to 2.1 firmware upgrade

I recently upgraded my Original iPhone's firmware from 1.1.4 to 2.1. I did a restore rather than a simple upgrade (backup, restore to version 2.1, restore backup).
After the restore I noticed that my battery life was terrible and that the phone would get very hot (near the top of the phone) sometimes, as if the battery was discharging very quickly. I read a few posts that suggested Push might be the culprit, so I turned Push off (I'm not using MobileMe), and this seemed to solve the problem. However...
I now notice that whenever I play Apple's Texas Holdem from the App Store or play YouTube clips the same phenomena occurs, and that nothing short of a hard reset will stop it.
Oddly, if I refrain from playing YouTube clips or playing Texas Holdem battery life is much better than before the firmware upgrade.
In short, it looks as though there is something wrong with the 2.1 firmware. I see sporadic accounts of similar behavior on the various discussion boards, so I know I'm not alone.
Is there a fix for this behavior?
    Thanks in advance...
    James

Sounds more like an app stuck processing that shouldn't be....does happen from time to time. Behing hot means it is constantly processing.
    To fix:
    Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

  • New iPhone 4s but battery life is bad

    Hey guys
My old iphone 4s was 3 years old so the battery kinda sucked compared to how it was the day i bought it. All in all the iphone 4s was a phone i was quite satisfied with and seeing as i could sell my old iphone for 350 i just had to pay an additional 50 and i got a new 4s brand new at the apple store.
I'm not a noob when it comes to iphone settings I  know what to do in order to save battery life but the battery life of my new iphone isn't better at all. A friend of mine has got the 4, about 6 months old but if you compare the usage it says enough.. First screenshot is taken from my friend's iphone, 62% left and used for 2.5 hours. If you look at mine i got 86 left but the usage is was only 43 minutes. I only use imessage, the fb app sometimes that's it really. This can't be normal right? This neww iphone is 2 days old, should i go back tothe apple store?
    Kind regards

  • White iPhone 4S 16GB battery life and getting hot

About 2 months ago I got a White iPhone 4S 16GB and it was working fine until I got back from Spain. The battery life now seems to be draining very quickly like for instants today It was fully charged at 7:30 and by 10:45 it was on around 30% battery life. I had only been listening to music for about an hour or so and read a few emails. I always close apps when they arent in use and the only ones that were open at the time were the messages and iPod. I'm assuming this isnt normal. I have also noticed that my phone has been getting very hot when on charge and sometimes during general use.
Has anybody got any ideas of what the problem is?
Could it be a hardware issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • IPhone 4S Sprint battery life

I was just wondering what everyone else's experience with the battery life was. What's your best standby and usage time and was it with push email on or off?

You do understand that I wasn't asking "how do I fix a battery problem," I was asking what is the best battery life that iPhone 4S users have gotten on Sprint. No need to be rude when you obviously don't even understand the question. I have not found a "Best Battery Life iPhone 4S Sprint" thread.

  • IPhone 4 Poor Battery Life? (Usage stats included)

I've made appointments at the Genius Bar and they said it was okay, however when I called Apple they said it was low battery life for an iPhone 4 so I'm kind of left hanging. I occasionally play games, but probably no more than 10 minutes or so. I mostly just use data for internet. Brightness is on 1/4, fetch email every hour, never more than 8 apps left in the multitasking bar. iOS 4.1.
I compared with my friend still with a 3GS and it doesn't seem like mine is any better. I've restored it as a new phone and have done multiple charge cycles. Current usage is below.
    36% battery right now
4 hours and 26 minutes of usage
1 day 19 hours of standby
Is this normal? And if you can, please post your usage stats too. Thanks.

Battery life seems OK to me (iPhone 4 + iOS 4.1)
-Wifi always On (At home and work, day and night)
-Push Notifications On (Game Center, Sportacular Pro, Beejive IM, Facebook, Paypal, eBay)
-2 Exchange accounts (Gmail and work account. Fetching e-mails, calendars and contacts every 30 minutes)
-1 IMAP account (fetching e-mails and notes every 30 minutes)
-Location On (Used everytime I post on Twitter, which means often in a day)
    -Brightness 50% (Auto-Brightness On)
