Iphone 4s screen scratching easily

i had my iphone 4s for only a few days and the screen is already scratched in multiple spots.. is anyone else having this issue? My family members have had theirs in pockets purses for over a year without any scratches.. I didn't keep my keys in the same pocket and somehow managed to scratch it... is the iphone 4s screen more susceptible to scratches? is this something i can bring up under warranty? or just considered wear and tear.

We took the iphone in and we were told that if it’s cosmetic damage it isn’ttheir problem regardless of the circumstances and if we wanted the glass replaced it would be their standard replacement charge (I think this was around£140). When we argued that the screen coating could be at fault and asked if they had seen this before the genius said that it wasn’t possible for the glass to be faulty. We then asked if this means that the failure rate on the glass, and the phone, was 0% and he just repeated that it wasn’t possible for it to be faulty.
We also reported that the length of time the battery lasted was much lower than the old phone and he said it was because there were apps running in the background and that was the only cause that it could possibly have. He then wenton to give us a lecture, which lasted at least 5 minutes, as to how a battery, like anything electronic, is like a car engine and takes a long time to get up to full power. This was only a few days before the admission that there was a battery life issue because of the software bug.
There were also an issue with the sim where the phone would come up with "Sim Failure" every hour or so and the phone would require a reset. Whilst this was displayed the phone couldn’t receive any calls or texts until it was reset. The genius said that the only cause for this would be a faulty sim and that there was no way the phone was at fault and to contact the network because it wasn’t apples problem.
After trying a new sim, the problem got worse and apple did replace the phone but only after they were told that the network wanted it to be replaced. So my other half has a completely new iphone (with no scratches so far!) but only after getting the backing of the network with a major fault. Safe to say we were not impressed with either the customer service or the patronising nature of the genius.

  • My iPhone 5c Screen Scratches Easily

I got my iphone 5c a week ago today. I feel like the screen is alot worse than my old 4. My 4 never had a scratch on the screen and i had it for over 2 years. On this 5c i literally have 10 major scratches on the screen. The back of the phone is in perfect condition. I've never even dropped the phone or anything. Im really annoyed because i payed alot for the phone and it scratches up. Im OCD about it and cannot stand it. What should I do? Is there anyway I could get them removed or do I contact apple? Thanks everyone.

    i have the same issue
i bought brand new 5c like 2 weeks ago
the first day i bought it,i haven't even put my sim card yet, i look at the screen there is 2 scratches on the right side of the screen,
i always treat my phone gentle & never put it on rough surface
and then at night i checked the back cover there's also scratches on it.
then i decide to put a screen protector on. this never happened on my old iphone 4
use my iphone 4 for like 3years with no protectors.
i believe the quality has down

  • Iphone 6 screen scratches very easily, just by normal use. Anyone else? What is Apple doing about it! It shouldn't be like that, it is way more fragile than Iphone 5 and 5S screeens!

I disagree. That is the problem with 'opinions'.

  • Will the iPhone 4S' screen scratch?

Will it scratch? Basically I have a screen protector which is very oily and has lots of air bubbles, Im worried if the phone will scratch easily, also my friends have iPhone's?iPod's?iPad's and nothing ever happened to theirs but I would rather have a better opinion.

I have gone without a screen protector for a few weeks now and still no scratches.  I use an otterbox commuter case without a screen protector.
I put it in my front pocket without anything else in the same pocket.  "regular glass" isn't easily scrached by copper, iron, clay, etc.  quartz sand will scratch "regular" glass though.  Since we don't know exactly what kind of strengthened glass the iphone uses, we can't be too sure about what won't scratch it.  But one rule for all scratching... the harder the pressure applied - the more likely a scratch will occur.

  • Iphone 6 screen scratched

I have had my phone since the day it came out and I am already noticing several screen scratches. How do I resolve this issue?

Ok, same here. This cant be real! I have watched the phone very much and today in the morning I have seen about 5 to 8 scratches. This can't be real. I was having iPhone 4, 4S, 5S and no one did have so much scratches in years like this one (iPhone 6 4.7) in 3 days of use! I was shocked! One scratch you can fill with fingernail. This can't be. Im very disapointed! For the phone in this price rank this is not acceptable! In 3 days of use the screen is like it would be 2 years old! On my Android that I was have it for 2 years before this phone there is not so much scratches like this! I hope Apple will do something about this!

  • Do IPhone 6 screens crack easily?

I have an IPhone 6 with a cracked screen.  The phone still works, and I don't want to be without it and have to mail it in for repair.  Can't get through to my local pole store:  Does anyone know if local Apple support centers are fixing cracked IPhone 6 screens?

We have no idea where you live. You'll have to call them yourself and find out.

  • IPhone 6 Screen Scratch

    iPhone 6 Black 16GB
I've had my iPhone 6 since two days after it came out and after a month, I've noticed (and I mean really noticed) there are hairline scratches all over the screen!  I had a 5 for 18 months before that, plus a 4 another 18 months prior, and I never got any noticeable scratches on them. I haven't changed the way I use my phone - no I don't use a screen protector or even a case, but I've always avoided laying the handset on its front and have kept it in a pocket separate from keys/coins etc. So if nothing's changed there, I can only assume its the phone!!
Took it into my local Apple Store today but didn't get any solid answers. Just that I could swap the handset for an additional £200 or buy a screen protector and have it fitted for £20.
Anyone else having issues with this? I don't know whether I'd like it to be a design fault or just a defect with my particular handset. Either way I'm really not satisfied with this!

I have exactly the same problem.  Noticed after a few weeks, the glass is covered in tiny scratches.  Always took care of the phone, this is really insulting after dishing out that much money for that phone, and having the screen look like crap.  Steve would've never let this out into production.  Maybe Mr. Cook can spend less time on LGBT causes, and more time making sure the product has the right quality components?  Or is it that these guys have made so much money, that a basic user environment reliability test isn't high on their agenda?

  • Iphone 3gs screen scratched!

i bought my iphone 3gs in january, after few days of use, i noticed hairline scratch on my screen, the porblem is i put protector at the same moment i bought my phone.
And bought a rubber protector for my phone and another phone pouch, never dropped it once.
Until recently i took out my screen protector, i see the scratch, i felt so bad...
i heard that i could ask for a replacement. because its defect product and not caused by user... is that right?

You can always ask... It's up to Apple to decide whether the crack is due to manufacturing defect and covered by the warranty.
Cracks and scratches from abuse or normal wear aren't covered, and you would have to pay for a replacement screen. Make an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar or whoever provides iPhone warranty service in your country.

  • Screen Scratches easily watch out

Well I have no idea how it happened but I have a scratch. It has been in the apple case since I opened it. I let a kid draw on it but I was watching the whole time. The screen seems easy to scratch. This stinks.

The olephobic "coating" is not a coating in the sense that it can protect anything... it simply helps to avoid smudges... it will NOT protect the screen at all from damage or scratches...You need a screen cover for that...
The brand available in Apple Retail stores will be coming out with one soon... here is the link if interested...Apple is rumored to stop carrying all screen covers in store soon...

  • Screen scratches easily

My IPod has a lot of minute scratches on the screen. I have been very careful, blew dust off anytime I put it into the case, but still scratches. If it brushes against my jeans, a scratch appears. I have put on the PDA screen covers, but it is a bit late. I know that they had some problems with some of the Nano screens and think it may be re-occuring.
    I Pod   Other OS

I babied my ipod making sure that it was always either on top of the case, in my bare hand, or inside the case. But sure enough, I looked yesterday and there was a fine scratch on the ipod. I seriously think apple needs to redesign this thing because it is a cheap business tactic.

  • Screen crack easily

anyone else have an issue with the new iphone 5 screen cracking easily?  have done nothing different with this one than i did with my 3gs which i had for 3 years with no cracks (actually abused the 3gs for the last year).

Less than useless.  Save your nonsense reponses for nonsense questions.

  • IPhone 4s screen can't be scratched

I've got an iPhone 4s like 6 months ago. I protect my screen with a screen protector, but my friends told me that iPhone's screen can't be scratched, its this true?

Of course it's not true. It's made of glass. No matter how hard the glass is, it can be scratched.
As a practical matter, I never use screen protectors and I've had iPhones since the original in '07. I've never had scratches on the screen.

  • IPhone 6 plus screen scratch for no reason

Seriously, I have took really good care of my iPhone 6 plus and have a cover on it. Without any droping, pumping and hurt, the screen scratched And being worse. The most strangest thing is that evey day the flaw becomes more when I weak up in the morning. How can a screem be so fragile. I even did not touch it ! It drives me crazy! Can I go the store to a new one without paying ?

They probably will not replace the phone. Scratching the screen is not covered by the warranty. But they might be able to tell you where these scratches come from if you show them your device and the accessory you use with it, like the case for example.

  • 4 day old iPhone 6 screen already scratched d

    Is apple
planning on doing a recall/replacement on the iPhone 6 screen?  My phone is 4 Days sold and alreafy has a giant scratch in the middle of the screen despite extra care and cover.   Had my 5S for over 1 1/2 yr. and never had this issue.  Very upset

It's not good but then it's not strictly a warranty claim as cosmetic issues with scratches doesn't make the phone faulty. Apple have never allowed a warranty claim for cosmetic damage. This is to be expected given the things halfwits do to phones and then try a 'free' repair. We had one here where the punter dropped the phone 2 floors off the balcony in a shopping centre, on to concrete and then demanded a new phone as the original was 'too flimsy' for normal use.... I have cosmetic damage with every Samsung phone I've ever had, using it for work  gets it battered to hell in short order. The only option being a hard case. It sounds hard but pay the €100 for a new screen and invest in stick on  screen protectors and a flip case?

  • Does iPhone 4 have scratch Proof screen?

I want to know if the iPhone has a scratch proof screen, As I dont want a screen Protector on mine. Will the screen get scratched? I've been using my iPod touch 4g for a year, and it never gets scratched!

If our iTouch didn't get scratched then you are lucky and have good habits for it's care, it's likely your iPhone will never get scratched.
The iPhone has aluminosilicate glass while the iTouch doesn't seem to AFAIK.  My iPad which is presumably the same glass as the iPhone is visibly scratch free.
We bought my Daughter an iTouch 4th gen for Xmas and within a week it had a quarter inch scratch on the screen and she had a hard shell back cover on it but no screen protector...
