IPhone 4S showing MNC and MCC

Hi,
I'm currently in South Africa, carrying an iPhone4S which I bought in Singapore about 2 years ago. I bought a card from 8.ta, which is one of the Mobile Operator in South Africa. The MicroSIM was inserted into my iPhone 4S and the Network name shown 655-02, which is the MCC and MNC for 8.ta. However, it stays like that without changing it to normal. While I put the same card into my iPad, it displayed 8.ta normally.
For the past two weeks I keep changing the same card from iPad to iPhone and vice versa, iPhone keeps showing 655-02 and the iPad keeps showing 8.ta. May I know how is these display names, which are corresponding to the MCC and MNC, are stored in the phone memory? How can I refresh the memory so that I can get my iPhone showing the right Operator name as usual?
In what condition the iPhone will try to refresh the PLMN and Service Provider Name? As far as I know the phone should read the Service Provider Name from the SIM card and displayed accordingly everytime they get the content from the SIM card, however iPhone looks like working another way round in achieving this, may I know how it is done?

I actually worked it out - I deleted it and started it back up again - not sure why it did it in the first place, but I did find others who had the problem and explained how to fix it:

Exchange - iPhone still shows deleted and cancelled appointments / meetings

I have an iPhone set up to correctly sync with Microsoft Exchange, and email and contacts appear to work correctly. The calendar, however, keeps showing appointments and meetings which were deleted, cancelled, or moved in the past. These are typically repeating meetings originally scheduled in Exchange by another person, where I accepted the meeting invite and then the meeting cancellation a while ago.
I am thinking of deleting the entire calendar and starting over, but somehow I'm not sure this will resolve the issue. Any advice?
(I have the iPhone set to sync mail, calendar, and contacts to my company's Exchange server).

Interesting; the turning sync off then back on approach seemed to work. Sort of. I did the following, and it seems to have worked -- for now:
1. In Microsoft Outlook on my Windows machine, I went and straightened up my schedule, declining any leftover meeting invitations (but not sending a reply) to all the items I wanted off of my schedule.
2. On my iPhone, went to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar, then the Exchange account. Calendars was set to "On" and I switched it off". Tapped on "Stop Syncing", and then I confirmed the calendar was erased from my iPhone.
3. Went back into Settings for the Exchange account, then switched Calendars back to "On". Made sure I had a WiFi/high speed connection active, since I'm on an original iPhone and re-loading my whole calendar over EDGE didn't seem like a good idea.
Also, not that it makes a difference, I also have my "Mail days to sync" set as far back as it'll go (1 Month).

Lightening cable iphone 5 shows peeling and the service provider says not covered under guarantee.I can see this is a clear case manufacturing defect.What is the remedy

I find the lightening cable that came with the iphone 5 showing peeling of rubber .
I had taken it to the local support (service point) who says it is not covered under warranty.
As an engineer I can vouch that this is a clear case of material defect.
What is my remedy

I had taken the Iphone 5 with lightening cable under warranty to the service supporter here in Chennai India and after logging in the complaint the support engineer had informed me that the same claim was rejected.
This happened a couple of months ago and now I find almost the entire cable has peeled off (Insulation).
Initially I thought there perhaps was a chance for handling (carrying etc in your laptop bag) that could have caused the same.Now I am convinced that the material defect is the problem.
Is there a way to bring this to the attention of Apple by email probably with a photo for them to appreciate my problem as the service support engineer authorised is unable to appreciate the problem.

IPhone messages show numbers and not contact names

My iPhone in messenger is showing phone numbers and not contacts. My contacts are OK, was working Ok just stopped today. Not sure why?

huh.. after a lot of experiments it now works
the contacts in n82 only dsplayed, contacts with names and numbers.. surprisingly when i connected my phone to pc suite and not nseries pc suite and checked the contacts through my computer, i noticed that there were duplicate entries... for all numbers without names
i deleted them and now its okay

IPhone 4S shows Bars and 3G, no connection

I just got my iPhone 4S, and have had my AT&T connection activated, I show plenty of bars, and the status bar reflects a 3G signal, but I am not able to connect to internet, make calls or use SIRI without WiFi. Texting also does not work. I have tried resetting network connection, replacing sim card, and have had no luck. Am going to schedule a Genius Bar appointment but would be very happy if I can cancel it. HELPP

Got e-mail from Apple stating that there were "features with my account that were incompatible with my new iPhone". Lady was very nice, tried serveral things and at the end of about 1/2 hour, she said that my iPhone was now fully activated, though I was no better off, plus my 3GS now was nothing more than an iPod now. She referred me to Technical Support (I already had a Genius Bar Appointment Scheduled). Woke up this morning to give the phone another try, and lo and behold it WORKS! I had read on MacRumors that there was some glitch with the network configurations centrally (at AT&T or Apple) and once it was sorted out it took about 24 hours for the changes to make it downstream to the user. Maybe this is a ray of light for some. Just glad I am no longer the holder of a 64Gig $400 brick. Good Luck to all!

My iphone will show 1% and then 0 and go off. I can't turn it off again because it shows the battery is dead. When I plug in the charger for 5 or 10 seconds, it might show 40% battery. When I unplug it, I have 40%!! Why does it go dead for no reason

My iphone 5 battery life at the most inconvenient times drains down till the phone turns off. When I plug in the charger for just 5 or 10 seconds, it will often show 35 - 45% left! I unplug the charger immediately and I have 45% battery life! That means I always have to have a charger with me in case it quits! I can't always do that.

The % counter isn't always accurate.
I'd reset the phone, which might help make it more accurate. (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears).
You might also try restoring the phone from a backup.

I was trying to update my IOS and when I was doing it it errored out what I only see now is a itune button and an USB on my iphone and my iphone is not detected in the Itunes , Please help

Place the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.

Can't to a restore and error 14 keeps coming up, have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes and have turned off anti virus and still doesn't do anything

Bluetooth no longer works between iPhone 5 running iOS8 and my 2012 Buick LaCrosse

Since I uploaded the new iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 the Bluetooth connection is no longer working correctly in my 2012 Buick LaCrosse. The phone pairs (illuminating the Bluetooth icon in the car stereo display) however then it doesn't work. I cannot receive calls or can't make calls. The iPhone display shows "Calling" and the number shows, but nothing happens.
I tried the suggestion from ChrisJ4203 below, however it did not work for me.
“Go into the phone and remove the vehicle from the Bluetooth list. Turn Bluetooth off, and do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. Then go into the vehicle and remove the iPhone from the list of paired devices. Turn the vehicle off and then back on again. Place the vehicle's system into discovery/pairing mode. Go into Settings on the phone and turn Bluetooth on. The devices should see each other.”
Any other ideas? My iPhone worked fine from Jan 2012 to now in this same car.

We have a 2011 Buick Enclave and the Pairing worked. I did have to hold the phone button, say Bluetooth, Say Delete, Say the specific device to Delete ...The Pair, I think enter the code (which changes each time you Pair) and then Name the New paired Device. To test it, I typically have to turn the vehicle off, leave the vehicle and walk far enough away to make sure the phone is not paired. While away, tune the phone totally off. Turn the phone back on, enter and turn key far enough to have the electrical systems come on, and then push the phone button in the car. Good Luck.

Your phone is in recovery mode. You need to connnect your computer to iTunes and restore.

Update: my PC USB hub was connected to a USB 3 port, I connected the 30 pin cable directly to my PC, And the restore worked just fine. Restored phone from iCloud backup and seems to be working fine.

At the bottom of the page Settings > Messages you should have a section headed "SMS/MMS" Turn MMS messaging on then you can turn group message on.

So I keep trying to sync music to my iPhone from iTunes, and whenever I select the album the sync goes by really fast and nothing goes onto my phone. Then when I click "On this iPhone" it shows the songs, but they're grey, and I can't click on them. Help?

Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks.

HT1414 I'm trying to restore from an earlier backup but my iphone only shows the most recent. I'm on Windows Vista and found the backup folder. If I delete the recent files, will it force the iPhone to backup from the next older file? Why doesn't it show

I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup. My iPhone only shows the most recent backup. I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files). How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?
Why doesn't the iPhone show a list of the least several backups.

As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.
