IPhone 4S skipping songs/won't play some

I recently updated my iPhone 4S, in doing so, I had to reset it and restore it from my back up. Now that I've done that, when I'm playing music from my iTunes, it wil skip the most recently added songs and won't play them at all if you try and click on them manually to play them. It shows them as on my phone in my iTunes on the computer, but won't play them. HELP! Alot are for my wedding and I can't figure out how to fix this!!

Hi, In my case I had a memory space problem. Some songs were on the phone and some not.
- Gain space on your phone (copy alle the photos to hard drive before, then delete them)
- Sync your phone again with iTunes, he will copy the songs on your phone

  • Some of my songs on iPhone are skipped and won't play

Some of my songs won't play on my iPhone. It will just skip over them and then I try and go back to play them it does nothing. All of my songs are downloaded from iTunes and at one point worked. I cannot figure out why some all of a sudden just won't play. I've tried re-syncing with my iTunes on my mac but that didn't help.

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
The exclamation mark appears if the song has been moved, renamed, deleted or is at a location that is currently inaccessible such as a disconnected external drive or network share. You have to restore iTunes' access to the file before you can add it to a playlist.

  • Some of the albums in the Beatles package I downloaded from itunes will not sync with my iPhone 5. Some songs won't play. They did sync to my iPad and they all play on my iPad. What can I do? I've already deleted all songs from the iPhone and re-synced.

I downloaded the entire Beatles collection from iTunes in 2011. Some songs skip and won't play. Some albums won't sync to the phone but they sync to my iPad. I've deleted the entire music library from my iPhone, shut the phone down, turned the phone on and synced again to add the music but now 2 albums won't even sync (Rubber Soul and Revolver). I've tried dragging the songs to the iPhone, no luck. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc.

  • Won't play some songs on ipod but will in itunes

This is concerning an ipod w/color (4th generation I guess)............
All of a sudden, some of the songs won't play on the iPod but they will play when I connect the iPod to itunes and the song list comes up. When I try to play the same song just on the ipod itself it skips down to the next song.
    Any ideas?

i got the same problem, happened with "Now its on" and currently with "My Wife, My *****, My Girl", both by Tech N9NE. i ended up just getting now its on from limewire. i think the song for download might be faulty becuase i even deleted the song from my computer and bought it again, but to no avail. as well, i took the song off my ipod and put it on again, which also didn't work. I suggest just finding it on the internet in some other way

  • I downloaded an album but some of the songs won't play - says my computer isn't authorized to play the song. I checked the authorization, and this computer is authorized. How do I fix this?

I downloaded an album but some of the songs won't play - says my computer isn't authorized to play the song. I checked the authorization, and this computer is authorized. How do I fix this?

If just some of the tracks on the album are doing that, that suggests those tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • HT201272 I downloaded a george harrison album a year of more ago and now some of the songs won't play, what do I do to get them to play now?

I downloaded a george harrison album a year of more ago and now a few of the songs won't play any more.  Does anyone know what I should do?

What do you mean by "won't play"?
Try deleting the song and downloading it again from the iTunes Store.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • HT3951 I downloaded an album and 2 of the songs won't play

I downloaded an album and 2 of the songs won't play and it's showing that the songs are fully downloaded. I have the latest version of itunes. If anyone knows what the problem is and how to fix it, please help!

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those tracks and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • When selecting a song to play on iPhone the correct song does not play.  How do I fix.

When selecting a song to play on iPhone the correct song does not play.  How do I fix?

There are users reporting the process being stuck and it might have to do with apple turning on match to other countries today.
Have you tried turning match off and letting it remove all none downloaded songs and then turning match back on to see if it fixes it?
Sometimes turn match off and then back on fixes some things, but not always.
Especially if it is working on your other devices, it has to be with the one your trying to get the song downloaded onto.

  • TS1897 last minutes of songs won't play

The last minute or so of a lot of songs won't play on my laptop or my ipod.  It just skips over it and goes to the next on the list.  I tried restoring my ipod, but it does it on my laptop as well.  Now what?  Any ideas?

Are these tracks you have downloaded from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?  If they are iTunes downloads, delete them from your library and redownload again at no cost via iCloud.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, you'll need to re-rip or reimport these music into iTunes from its original source.

  • HT201272 iTunes Songs Won't Play - Bad Download?

I just downloaded an iTunes album and the first (2) songs won't play on my computer -- they skip to the 3rd song every time.
All (8) other songs play without issue.
    Possibly a bad download?

Yes. Delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

  • Why IPod skips songs and ITunes plays them

I loaded the songs from CD and have played them several times over 2 or 3 years.  Recently, I tried to play them on my IPod Classic and they just skip to the next track.  I have restored my IPod and reloaded it.  Still, the songs won't play.

Is it only a particular group or tracks or just any of your tracks loaded from CD at random?
It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

    Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go.  You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:

  • Often songs won't play again after pausing.

I have a black, 30GB video iPod I got back in October just a little bit after it came out. Up until about a little over a month ago, I had no problems with it. But lately, after I pause a song and turn off the iPod, and when I try to play it again, the song won't play! The "play" icon appears, but there is no progress. I can use all of the other functions, so it doesn't freeze, but the only way to fix it is to restart it, which I am doing most of the time now. According to other posts I've read, a lot of other people have had this problem. Does anybody have any information about this? Any way to fix it? Or does it need to be replaced? Any help at all would be appreciated!

I am having the same problem. What seems to happen randomly, then I wake my iPod it sometimes does not play. I have the time in the title and it reads 12:00AM when the problem occurs. If I return to the main menu and then enter a different playlist the list is empty! Almost as if the iPod is not reading the HD or something. This can happen a dozen times a day or not at all. They only way to get things working again is to reset the iPod. I tried resorting the iPod but the problem continued.
I made a visit to my local Apple Store and got my iPod replaced. I loaded all my content back (which includes music and video from all sources). To my dismay the problem continues. It is my conclusion that is not the iPod hardware (as I first thought). I am now thinking it may be some of the media on the iPod. When I get time I am going to restore the iPod and load it with only a few songs and no video (my music library is over 3,000 songs).
Try putting the time in the title and see if it reads 12:00AM when the problem occurs.
Although the iPod plays great (when it plays!) having to reset the iPod so often is annoying.

  • Song won't play on itunes but plays on quicktime

I just downloaded an entire album (not off itunes). However when i click on the song in finder, iTunes opens up but doesn't even display my song. Nothing happens. Not only does it not play, there is not evidence I even clicked on the song.
However when I open it on Quicktime is plays just fine.
I made an email account containing one of the songs that won't play. If someone can maybe dissect why the song won't play in iTunes I'd greatly appreciate it.
    <Edited by Host>
I've attached the song to the first email sent to myself. Maybe if you could look at how it's encoded or something to help figure this out.
    Thanks in advance!

MP3 files have structures which can vary according to the dialect of mp3 used. Some applications will only look at a file if it is perfect. Some are willing to try pretty much anything. (Like reading a post on Apple Discussion. If somebody omits grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure I might not even try reading it, but some are willing to try and can make sense of it in the end.) There's something not quite right with the file (um, if this is of dubious origins it might not be surprising). iTunes won't look at it, but Quicktime is willing to have a go and can make enough sense of it to play it.
I opened the file with MP3Trimmer (well worth the minimal shareware fee IMHO, and has a pretty liberal trial version). Normally it would open a file like that in a few seconds. It took it about a minute of scanning before it did. I then saved the file in mp3Trimmer (it doesn't recode it so there's no additional quality loss) and it fixed whatever it didn't like and I could add it to iTunes.
