IPhone 4S SMS won't send

I have just swapped phones and my SMS won't send, the address box for the iMessage has the old number in it and I can't change it, even when I change my number in phone.
Can anybody help please?

I also have this issue on my 4s.
im on o2-uk.
everything worked fine for 4 months until yesterday between 4pm an 7pm my signal dropped completely altough it still showed the 3g icon which changed to the little circle for gprs and back to 3g. so therefore i cant send or recieve calls or sms messages.
yet data works fine with browser, emails, imessage other apps etc. i was on 5.0.1 at the time, i updated to 5.1 still same problem then i tried restoring problem still exists.
i have spoken to o2-uk who have no idea about the issue and after we went through their checklist still same problem. tried sim in another phone worked fine also tried a friends orange-uk sim in my phone and guess what same problem.
any help would be great thank you

  • My IPhone 6 plus won't send group texts.

My IPhone 6 plus won't send group texts. It will if i delete the group and recreate the group but if i continue to send texts in that group it will only send to an Iphone acount and not other cell phone brands.

Start with soft reset then reset network settings and a possible Sim card reseat. Careful they pop out when using an earring or paperclip to remove.

  • IPhone email receives, won't send - have read through forums, nothing works

    Hoping someone can help.
my iPhone receives email but won't send.
I first tried the automatic sync through iTunes as I am on an iMac and use the Mail client. That didn't work.
Then I deselected 'sync' and set up the account directly on my iPhone. First I did it just like my blackberry (which always worked) - as a POP account, with the same settings as on my computer.
Then i tried it as an IMAP and Exchange account. didn't work.
Please tell me it's something simple I'm doing wrong - here are the details:
    Incoming mail server:
    host: mail.website.com
    user: sarah+website.com
    password
    Outgoing Mail Server:
smtp.earthlink.net - also tried smtp.website.net, with and without SSL
    sarah+website.com
password - tried it with and without user + password (as i never needed this on bberry)
If anyone has any suggestions at all I would be grateful -
    thanks so much,
    sarah

We went to the "www.apple.com/support/iphone/mailhelper/" and followed all its directions (you are asked to enter your e-mail address, and it returns with everything you need to enter to set up the info).
Before this worked, we had to undo the mail sync in iTunes, then select the "eject iPhone" from a pull down, unplug the iPhone. We then deleted the earthlink account we had first created. Then we recreated a new Earthlink account using the info given us from the link above. The only thing we had to change was under Settings/Mail/Authentication ... don't select anything. It defaults to the MD5 thing but doesn't display anything -- just leave it that way.
I guess that sometimes the sync operation muddles up the process when first creating yor mail accounts.

  • New iPhone 5s/iOs7 Won't Send Text Messages to 4s/iOs 6.1

    Hello,
My husband got a new iPhone 5s (iOs7) yesterday and when he sends a text message to my 4s (iOs 6.1), I don't get it. On his screen, the texts from him are blue. If he holds down the message and sends as text, I get them, and on my screen they are white.
I did do a bit of research and tried resetting the network settings and turning on SMS but it didn't work at all.
Can anyone give me a hand please? The poor man has been dealing with a belligerent, messed up Android phone for months, waiting to get this iPhone and now we can't text each other :-P Is this something we will have to live with until Apple fixes it?
    Thank you,
    Gina

Which type of messages are you having a problem with, iMessages (blue) or SMS (green)? Or both?

  • HT4993 SMS won't send

    Hi,
so I have an iPhone 4S 64gb on Sprints network. well for some reason today, 8/1/2012, I was unable to send regular SMS messages. when I send an iMessage it sends from my apple ID. The really STRANGE part is, is that this only happens when I am at my house. I have 2 iPhones on my account and my other phone sends just fine to regular SMS people. When I leave my house, it does the same thing until about 10 mins and then it works just fine. When I try to send SMS at my house, it has the red circle with the ! in the middle of it, which is really weird. Any help is appreciated. I did go to the Apple store and they said they didn't know, so they gave me a new iPhone, got home, it does the same thing. I originally called Sprint and they told me it was Apples fault and that they are the ones that I need to talk to. I didn't think that was true, but at the same time, everything works as soon as I leave. Any thoughts?
    - Justin
btw, I am running iOS 5.1.1

Jayy389, I want to make sure that every part of your phone is working correctly. As others have stated, a block could possibly cause messages not to go thru. Let's try a few other things first. Dial *228 option 2 and reboot your phone. If no change, reset network settings http://bit.ly/RWB8pS. Let me know if the problems persist.

  • IPhone 4S messages won't send

Hi, the last two weeks my iphone will not send text message whilst inside work. The phone will not send a text even with full signal and apps won't work with 3G. It works before work and after about 15 mins after leaving work it is fine. I recently returned from holiday and the problem started since then. It worked at work before this break also. I have reset network settings etc and had nothing! The odd texts send but most of the time I have to turn my phone on and off to get a message out. Please help it's driving me mad!
    Thanks in advance.

There could be a number of things, but I would double check with your carrier.
I've had numerous people at my work go out of the country for vacation and come back to the states and have issue with cellular data.  To resolve the issue I had to contact AT&T.
One occasion was the user went over his allocated data while on vacation, so AT&T suspend the data plan.

  • Tethering iPhone 4s - Outlook won't send issue

When I am tethered to my iphone 4s, whether it be through the WiFi hotspot or connected with the USB, I am not able to send email from my Outlook 2007. If I connect using a LAN connection at home it sends just fine. Any suggestions?
I have read quite a few posts from others and have not seen any advice for this issue that would fix the problem. Could this be an iPhone problem? My Andriod 2.2 phone does not have this issue when I am Tethered to it.

  • Gmail on iPhone (IMAP Account) Won't Send Emails

So my IMAP account on my iPhone 3G is Gmail. Yesterday I could send emails all over the place and it worked fine. I turned on my iPhone 3G today and for some reason it kept saying "The Sending Address is Invalid" message every time I tried to send an email. My IMAP is also linked to my MacBook's Mail utility and I can send messages there no problem. It's just on my iPhone 3G that seems to be the problem. I even tried deleting the account and re-setting it up on my iPhone 3G...I've even tried contacting Google for help with Gmail setup but so far, nothing has worked.
Is anybody else having issues with their IMAP email accounts on their iPhone 3G's? Does anybody know how to fix this?

Hey, so I checked the Google Discussion Forums and yes, it is a Google problem. I turned off my primary SMTP server which is Gmail, and I turned on my ROGERS SMTP server. This way I can still receive Gmail messages on the IMAP server and send out emails on the ROGERS server. I guess we'll just have to wait till Google fixes whatever problem there is with the Gmail SMTP server before we use them again. Hope that helps everyone with this problem.
p.s. This should work for FIDO customers as well (other Canadians) and AT&T in the U.S.

  • IPhone, iPad, Mac won't send pictures over iMessage

All my devices have suddenly started telling me iMessage delivery fails when I want to send images / videos over iMessage. 1st gen iPad mini, iPhone 5c, 2013 Macbook Air, all on most recent software updates.
I've tried turning off iMessage on all devices, restarting them all, and turning them on again, but it doesn't fix the issue.
While my contacts tell me that pictures and videos still go through, on my end it shows them as failed / undelivered. Same goes the other way, if someone sends me a picture, they will see on their end that it was "not delivered" and yet I receive the picture without problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

    HI Friend,
You must set the Cellular Data according (Settings>>General>>Cellular>>Cellular Data). Contact your carrier for further information.
Turn on Cellular Data, Roaming and 3G as well, even your carrier doesn't have 3G available.
    Hope it will be helpful

Hi, I am wondering why my iphone won't send pictures through messages, I have MMS on and I have tried sending it with 3G on aswell and still doesn't work. Someone please help me :)

    Hey lozza567,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending MMS messages. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
Issues with sending and receiving MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    - An iPhone 3G or later.
    - iOS 3.1 or later.
    - A cellular data connection. MMS isn't available if you are using only Wi-Fi.
    - A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You may need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information.
    - A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network different from your billing cellular provider's network. Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps first
    1. Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
    3. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
    4. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you are roaming on a cellular provider network different from your billing provider's network.
    5. Verify that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar at the top left of your iPhone.
    6. Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
    7. Verify that you can send and receive SMS. If you are unable to send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above.
    8. MMS may not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    9. Restart your iPhone.
    10. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
    11. Reseat your SIM card.
If you are still unable to send or receive MMS, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you are sending a group message.
    3. Make sure that you are using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
    4. Verify a "Pay as you go" MMS plan has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if unsure of your MMS plan or available balance.
    5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    6. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    7. Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
    8. If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process may not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
    9. Contact your carrier to verify that you are provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
    10. Contact your carrier to verify that there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
    11. Your carrier may require APN settings to be modified to use MMS. Learn more about when you should adjust APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Settings -> Messages -> do you have "Send as SMS" ON?
If not, then your messaging app will be restricted solely to Apple's iMessage service, which only works between iOS devices.
