Iphone 4s sometimes sends texts as email or I receive texts as an email.

When I go to settings-messages-receive at- it does not list my phone number at all. I have turned Imessage off and logged out of Apple ID under messages. No luck seeing my number at all. My wife has the exact same phone and his number is listed under the "receive at" tab.

Sorry. That was the only thing I could think of. You might as well try resetting the phone by holding the Home and end buttons until the silve apple appears. It won't hurt and it might help.

Hmm, that is strange that your phone number is greyed out. There are a few things that we can try. First would be to turn iMessages off, then back on. See if you are able to select your phone number. Then if that doesn't work, turn iMessages back off, then reset the network settings....settings>general>reset>reset network settings, this will reboot the phone. Don't worry, it won't delete anything from the phone, it simulates a battery pull. Once the device comes back on, then turn iMessages back on. Keep us posted if that works!

I just set up a calendar on iphone, ipad and PC. Iphone will not send new events but will receive from both PC and ipad. I just updated to iOS 6 and am reading others have similar problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are the other phones that can't receive messages iPhones? If not, that could be the problem.

Texting problems/ late or never receive texts

I have an enV3 maroon and just recently it has never been receiving texts messages or they are coming quite delayed. It has happened everywhere, including at home where i normally send standard text messages, and it has been happening to everyone, including people on the same network. i can send messages, just not receive them it appears. i did both *228 option 1 and 2 and it does not seem to have helped at all. ideas?

If you are using an AIM Login (that is AIM, @mac.com and MobileMe issued @me.com names) then you can go here
Once you have logged in you have access to those Setting tab/items on the left and can restart Off Line IMs
iCloud issued @me.com names are a bit more difficult.
In iChat there is an AIM login and an Me.com login and both are needed for AIM to access the password.
This means on one hand that the name will only work in iChat 6 with the me.com login
It also means you cannot login to that link above.
I have yet to find a way around this so you can access the settings. (LifeStream and Privacy need sorting usually).
If it is a Jabber ID you are using you will need to check that the server you use supports Off Line Messages

This should be an easy question to answer... what is my "device address?" For example... I'm trying to set up alerts online through my bank and they need to know how to send me a text message. They want the full address, not just my phone number. What is the email suffix for att? There are discrepancies online when I google for the answer. Is it [email protected]?

Upgraded from iphone 4 to galaxy S4 now I can't receive texts from iphone users. Verizon Store employees are useless

I wish I would have known how bad this problem is before I upgraded. Verizon is very much aware of the problem but says its not their problem. They sold me the phone fully knowing this problem existed and never mentioned a thing to me. I am furious! I've tried unregistering the phone, changing the password on iTunes, deleting the contact and re-entering it. The only way I can get a text through on this phone is by turning off imessage before sending a message every time or sending it from a non-iPhone.

Let's get your text messages flowing! If you have access to your previous iPhone please ensure that it is connected to internet via WiFi so that changes will sync with you Apple ID. Now go to Settings>Messages>Move iMessage to off. If you have other Apple devices (iPad, iPod, etc.) registered to same Apple ID as your phone, you need to deactivate iMessage on all of them, otherwise your messages will continue to go to your Apple ID instead of your new phone.
If you do not have access to your previous iPhone go to http://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do Log in with your Apple ID and password. Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example). Click ‘Unregister’. You’ll see the message ‘Are you sure you want to unregister and delete this product?’ – Click ‘Unregister’ again.
**Important ** by unregistering your iPhone from your Apple ID through the Apple site, it won’t have access to the App Store or content you’ve purchased unless you reregister it.

How do I use my Iphone 4s camera while on a cruise, yet not receive texts and calls and ultimately , the charges?

Hi!!! My family is going on a cruise this summer. I do not want to but any internet plan on board or through verizon, as it can get quite costly with
two teenage daughters. But, we will be using our phone cameras. How do I block calls and texts, yet still use the camera? And does blocking them still result in no charges..roaming, international, on board, etc.? Thanks for all advice and answers!!!

Another option you may have is to temporarily suspend service...that would guarantee you won't have any charges for unexpected texts/calls. Might be a little more extreme then you want to do though. Contact VZW for more details on that option if interested. I would echo the idea of just using a camera versus your iPhone unless for some reason you don't own an actual point and shoot camera. You can easily put the pics on your iPhone when you return home from your trip if that is the reason you were really wanting to use the iPhone for picture taking.

Is your device trying to send this message as a iMessage ? If so did the user of the other device used to have a iPhone ? If so did they turn off there iMessage before they changed it ?
Have you got iMessage turn on on your device ? Have you tried it with it off ?

Corrupt sms text audio text that keeps sounding when receiving texts and phone calls

Help!! I opened a text SMS that had a audio noise attached to it now my phone plays the audio noise whenever i get a sms or mms text and when I make phone calls or dial the phone. I deleted the text and it still is on my phone. This is a huge problem becasue I can't leave my phone on with this noise.

Here are the settings for my Leopard Mail client. Yours may be slightly different.
Remove any tick from 'Remove copy from server after retrieving message'.
To clarify my earlier remarks about mixing POP and IMAP. Unless you know what you are doing I don't advise:
Accessing any account on a mail server with both POP and IMAP
Setting up an email client to use both POP and IMAP
Item 1 is likely to be a problem for the unwary as POP only downloads messages from the server's Inbox so it will never see messages moved by IMAP. Also the default settings of many POP clients are set to automatically delete messages from the server's Inbox either immediately or after a specified time which can cause problems for IMAP.
Item 2 is less of a problem if the email accounts are different but I have known some email clients, especially Thunderbird after several upgrades, get their preferences in a mess doing this. It is also likely to cause some users to get confused because of the different ways in which POP and IMAP work.
My advice for those who have family members with some preferring IMAP and some POP is to set them up with either separate accounts on the computer or different email clients (eg one with Mail and the other with Thunderbird) on the one computer account so that both POP and IMAP are not being used by the same email client on the same computer account.
I stress that this advice is for less experienced users.
