Iphone 4s speedtest results not the same as imac's
i ran a speedtest on both products (same wifi network of course) and the download speed of my iphone is way too low compared to my imac's. just .5 mbps vs 3mbps on the imac. i already did the network reset on my iphone but still the same results. do i need to do something or do i just have to have my iphone replaced? thanks.
btw, when i ran a test using my network's 3G, it showed higher results compared to the wifi.
They should be comparable, but they will never be the same. The computer has a faster processor so it should be able to download and process the data faster.
Are the speeds dramatically different?

I am guessing you are talking about an encryption password that you placed on the backup you put into iTunes on your computer.
If so, you elected to encrypt your iPhone's backup. You will need to recall that password, or you cannot access the backup. -
IPhone calendar month view not the same as iCal
I have my iCal on my MacBook & iCloud set so that the start day of the week in Monday. This means that in the Month view Monday is the 1st column with the week-end, Sat & Sun columns on the right side of the screen. However, on my iPhone4 the 1st column is Sunday, follwed by Mon - Saturday.

On iOS this is taken from the Regional Format option in Settings > General > International. Mine is set to United Kingdom and Calendar.app has the week start as Monday. There may be other results of changing this setting.

MessageDigest results not the same

I've been using some messagedigest code for authentication on our website. The way it works is the user passes us an identity string (like a username) and a SHA-1 hash of the identity that we have provided in a GET request of the form:
http://oursite/access.jsp?id={id}&id_hash={hash}
This allows us to deny access to users who are in our system but have not paid for this particular functionality. The hash that I am sending them is the url encoded version of the base64 conversion of the digest bytes.
The problem is, recently something has happened and the hash we previously provided no longer works. When I regenerate the hash using a utility that I wrote, the new hash doesn't match the one previously generated. The only significant change in our system is that we upgraded from jdk 1.3.1_06 to 1.3.1_10 to resolve the Verisign expired certificate issue.
I tried running our application under the old jdk to see if this was the issue but I got the same hash in both cases on my development machine so I'm not convinced that this is the issue.
All of our staging, production and dev machines are running Windows 2000 US English versions (server version on the servers, ws version on the dev machines).
The only thing that I have found that I was doing wrong was not specifying UTF-8 encoding when I was getting the bytes from a particular string. However, when I run this code with and without the addition of the UTF-8 encoding, the generated hash is the same.

I'm having the same problem. I'm using jdk 1.3.1. It was perfect and then i moved the app to other server. And i got that error. Then i used the same code in other machine with jdk 1.4, and it works perfect.
I made a simple page to encrypt a string and the result is a very short string (3 or 4 chars).
Really i don't have any idea why is that happen, it looks like something is missing to setup in the new server.

Can someone advise me how do I get my Contacts on my Mac to be the same as my iPhone. My main contacts is in my iPhone but my Mac shows less contacts.To sync them with iCloud, you'll need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with your exchange account (so you don't see duplicate contacts on your phone). To do this, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup. (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version. If you aren't sure how many you have, get the free version. It will tell you if you have over 500 contacts when you run it.) Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email. Send this email to yourself and confirm that you have received it.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your exchange account and turn contacts syncing off.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from your exchange account back to your device, and to iCloud. All your contacts should now be in iCloud and appear on icloud.com and your Mac. -
The home computer iTunes will not let me sync certain apps bought directly from iTunes with the iPhone. The two ID's (home Apple id and iPhone id) are not identical. The Store 'Authorize' function tells me that the computer is authorized. How do I get all apps to sync across all devices (I also have an iPad). Thanks.
you need to be signed in on both devices to teh apple id that the apps were bought on to sign out on the device go to settings>store >tap on apple id >choose sign out>tap on sign in, to sign out on the comp click on stre at top>sign out >sign back in with the correct apple id

Why are my ITunes playlists on my iPhone, iPad and Mac not the same?
I don't understand the ITunes. I have an Iphone, Ipad and new Mac Probook with Retina Display. When I add songs to ITunes my playlists do not synchronize. I have to manually delete the playlist on my Mac, create new ones, then synch with USB to each device. Isn't there an easier way to manage the playlists?
You can't drag and drop content onto smart playlists, only regular ones.

Hello. My iphone 4, iOS 6.1.3 gone wild....everything is going in slow motion, every app i open is running in frames...i tried reseting the handset, with back-up, without backup(as a new iPhone) and the result is the same. My battery percentage is going down down down only by looking at my phone, imess is making me crazy, after i write the name for the recipient the keyboard appears after 2 min...and the list is looooong...everything is gone wild ! Why? What can i do ?
I'm having similar issues just lately. The phone itself is very slow to respond to the touch, just scrolling between home screens is a chore at times. There have been about 2 incidents of random vibration from it. Closing home screen folders takes a couple of attempts. I find that I'm also having delayed keyboard responses when typing messages to my contacts.
Also, sometimes when I press the sleep/wake button it takes about 30 seconds to register it and actually lock or wake up.
Have you experienced the backlight failing to light up? Like if I get a message it flashes up then goes black straight after and when you press the sleep/wake or home button it lights up again but very very dimly and you have to press the sleep/wake button as if locking it and then press it again to bring the screen up properly?
Mine is also on 6.1.3(10B329), model MD245B/A, obviously not Jailbroken, carrier unlocked from Vodafone (but that was months and months ago). Roughly 17gb of storage space left.
This has only started happening in the last 2 weeks. Haven't tried the reset or anything yet though. -
I had 2 iPhone 3G's, one of them screwed up and wouldn't recieve service. Up until then when I backed them up to my computer all was good, then one of them would update and all but a screen would pop up and tell me it couldn't back up to my computer. Recently I replaced the bad tele with an iPhone 4 and it does the same thing while the other iPhone 3G still backs up fine.......What up!!! Help please. Don't wanna lose my info..
I banged my head on the wall with the same problem for two days. Tried everything mentioned, and this worked, finally. The problem is that the backup files are not where you think they are.
You need to delete the MobilSync backup folder. I have a Mac. Went to /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup and deleted the Backup folder.
Fixed the problem. Give it a try and good luck! -

Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Uncheck your phone number from both sections

My problem started when I want to unlock my iphone 3gs via Imei.
My old iphone broke about a month after i bought it (it was 2 years ago), so i sent it to Movistar to change it (i think that they sent it to appleCare). Now Movistar told me that i have to send the old iphone imei in order to unlock the iphone i have now, i ask apple for the repair order receipt, then i received an email and i could see the information about the 2 iphones: the old broken one and the new one.
Then I realized that the iphone they sent me as a replacement (the new one) is not the same iphone i have. The serial number and the Imei are different, so, should apple change this data in their server in order to unlock my iphone or what can i do to solve it?
There is any formal way to perform this data change?

Francisco MarzabalHere we work with repairs for devices that does not have waranty (expired or other issue). In this case, I did the screen replacement. No other ipad was on my station, the ipad arrives, i took it change the glass, put everithing back, give to customer. Thats it. The job was done by me, the customer test his ipad in front on me, works fine, everything ok. Few days pass and he came back saying that it wasn't his ipad, he brings the box that the ipad came and ask me why the serial number does not match the serial number in the box (sorry NOT in the back of the ipad).
There were no other part changed only glass. After 7 years working on this, thats the first customer complaining about a work done here. After this I was curious and look for more information and some forums, also one port here is claiming that the serial number on the device is not the same as the box where it came.
I just want to make sure that there are possibilities that there could be such mistake during the packaging process.

How do I have my wife's iphone 4s upload pics to the same icloud I use for with my 4s and ipad? Can seem to change her icloud ID to match mine.
I can tell you how to do this but first wanted to be sure that's what you want to do. You would then be sharing the same iCloud account and any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) would then be merged and the merge data would appear on her phone and your iPad (i.e., you'll end up with each other's contacts on your phone). You would also both be backing up your devices to the same account, sharing the 5GB of free storage (assuming you're both backing up to iCloud).
There's an alternative setup that would allow her to set up your iCloud account on her phone as her primary account and just turn on photo stream in that account (allowing your to share you photo stream), then set up a secondary iCloud account on her phone that would sync her Mail, Notes, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders. She would still have to back up her phone to your account, as well as syncing Safari, Documents and Find My iPhone (all of which can only be done in the primary account). Also, her mail would be fetch, not push as push email is only supported in the primary account.
I suppose a third option is to leave things as they are and share you photos with each other using shared photo streams.

I have an apple ID which I use to sign into icloud for my iPad and iPhone.But when I use the same ID for setting up iCloud on my Macbook it says INCORRECT ID or password, try again. I tried changing my passwords several times but it does not work for the macbook.
You will have to provide the correct password to delete the existing account, if you have tried but are not getting the password reset email, contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password.

How can I sort this ...Got it!!!! A re-install is NOT the answer. You need to turn on individual notifications under Settings > Facebook > Push Notifications, BUT (and this is a big and confusing BUT) you also need to turn on global push settings under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendards > Fetch New Data (and change the Push slider to 'on'). This doesn't sound like it makes sense, but I guess that the push slider under 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' is actually for ALL push notifications on iPhone, and not just Mail, Contacts and Calendar apps!

after unlocking over the phone from ATT and resetting iphone 3gs I keep getting the same error message "could not activate phone" neither Apple Store Tech or ATT were able to fix this .
Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.

Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.
