IPhone 4s, still on iOS 6, is slow, can't connect to the internet, and overheats a lot,
I've have my iPhone 4s for about a year now, and up until when the iOS 7 update was released, I never had any problems with it. I still haven't updated my phone, though. I prefer the interface that comes with iOS 6, and in my opinion it's easier to use. But, since the new software updates have come out, my phone has been unable to connect to local internet servers (when it does, the internet doesn't work) and it has run slower, even freezing in the middle of use of apps such as Snapchat and Instagram. Now, I'm faced with another problem altogether (because I could deal with slight delays and no internet before.)
Now my phone overheats a lot. It's really concerning how often it happens. Before, it would only overheat if I used it for multiple hours on end, which was rare. Now, it overheats while charging, if I used any app with a camera, or even just while sitting there. I don't understand what's happening.
I do wonder, is all of this because I haven't updated to iOS 7? Or do I just need to replace my phone?
I'd prefer not updating, but if my phone would run more efficiently on iOS 7, I will.
I've heard that the update caused quite a bit of trouble for 4s users when they updated the first time, and I'm concerned that if my phone experiences that trouble, the situation will only get worse.
So should I update? Is the problem due to the fact that I haven't updated? Or is it something else entirely?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. Hello rxander21,
Force your iPhone into recovery-mode and then you can use iTunes to restore it.

Is there a way to transfer the iTunes application to my PC using my iPhone? My PC has no means of connecting to the Internet and I do not wish to pay for Internet tethering for a one time use. I don't have the app on my computer and I simply wish to have it on there to actually be able to transfer my files.
You can transfer the app to your PC to save it, the article below will show you how:

After downloading IOS 8.0.2 I can not connect to the internet, any solutions?
It is not the wording but the lack of detail.
The iPhone connects to both the phone network (3G, LTE, etc) and to WiFi networks. Which one (or both) are you having issues with?
If it is the phone network, go to Settings->Cellular and see if Cellular data is turned on globally AND for the apps you wish to use.
If it is a WiFi network, go to Settings->Wi-Fi and see if you are connected to a network. If so, touch the circled "i" next to the network name and see that you have a valid IP address, etc. (take a screen shot and post it if you don't know what to look for). -

I get a message can not connect to the internet when trying to open Mozzila Firefox. It was working fine until my internet service went down. Once back up it was not working. I have tried installing and uninstalling the browser. I have looked at the firewall and proxy on my computer. Still not working Internet Exployer works fine. Deleted all cookies also.
Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

I plug in my iPad and make sure it is connected to the internet and locked. I still get "This iPad hasn't been backed up in (N) Days" What am I doing wrong?
Is the iPad plugged in to the mains ? You can force a backup via Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Back Up Now
If the 'hasn't been backed up' message is stuck on the screen and you can't clear it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. You can then force a backup as above. -
TS1398 I can't connect to the internet while using wi fi on my iphone 4S.
I can't connect to the internet while using wi fi on my iphone 4S. I can connect on my computer and on my IPad but not with my iphone. I have tried everything. Once or twice it did connect but then disconnected immediately. I have tried everything.

If you have truly tried "everything" then there is no hope of it ever working again. However, have you tried rebooting your router?
Have you tried Settings/General/Reset - Reset network settings? -
Airport Utility on the Macs show good internet signals but on our two iPads and my iPhone 5 there are no indications of internet connectivity. One of the iPads is running iOS 7 but the other is still running iOS 6. The iPhone 5 is updated to iOS 7.
Is there a setting switch that if set incorrectly would create this problem? Like I said before, all the iOS devices stopped internet connectivity at the same time.
Update: Well while I was typing this I was called away to help get people to bed etc. And when I got back I tried all four iOS devices and, now, they all connect to the internet. I don't understand it. Two iPhones, different iOS versions, and two iPads, different generations and also different iOS versions, all decided that they would disconnect themselves from the internet but stay connected to the wifi network. Somebody must have an explanation for what just happened. Remember it isn't the router because the Macs all had uninterrupted internet connections. Weird!I used to have a satellite connection to the internet. When ever the power went off I was told to turn on the devices in a specific order for them to work properly.
Try shutting off every device including all iPads, iPhones, computer, Wi-Fi router and Satellite modem. Then turn them on one at a time in the order listed below. Be sure to wait until each device completes its start up routine before starting up the next item. When my satellite modem was restarted it often had to download an update. The time this took varied with the update. So be sure the Satellite modem is up and connected to the Satellite before going to the next device.
1. Satellite Modem.
2. Wi-Fi Router
3. Your computer. Check to see that your computer connects to the internet.
4. iPad or iPhone and remaining devices one at a time. -
Occasionally my macbook, iphone, and ipad would not be connected to the internet at the same time. However, when they can connect, all three are connected at the same time. It is not my internet because my room mates computers are connected to the internet the whole time without any problems. When I can't connect, I can still see the network name on th wifi network search. However, when I click connect, the only message that pops up is can not join network.
