Iphone 4S stuck during update 7.1.2

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my iPhone 4S, I was updating it on the device itself from iOS 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 At first everything loaded the way it should, but now it's been stuck at the same place for over 2 hours. I don't have a copy. Updating shouldn't last for that long and it should definately not be stuck for that long.
On the screen is the apple logo with the loading bar. I am worried that my iphone might have crashed. I plugged the phone into my computer and it said that there has been a crash and that windows does not recognise the USB device
Does anyone have advice on what I shoud do?
Thank you in advance.
Sem G.

it now shows the empty battery screen. It has been in the charger the entire time. my charger does not work optimal but I know it was charging

my ipad appears stuck during update. It hasn't budged an inch for the past hour. Ive noticed in the firmware updates that it goes through two rounds of installing/loading process... The first round finished quickly and started the next round in the usual orderly fashion but as shown in the image, its now stuck mid-way. I don't want to anything that might turn this into an expensive paperweight.

    Hello, DracoGem.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are experiencing this issue when attempting to update your device wirelessly, I would recommend attempting to update via iTunes on your computer.

  • IPhone locks up during update/sync

I have synched my prior iPhone for several months so everything was set up fine, but it no longer will allow downloads. Last week, I tried to download the update for iPhone, and it locked up. When I disconnected, the iPhone was ruined, would only accept a download, but then would not complete the download. I got a new iPhone. Now, I have reloaded from a backup, I have the latest version of iTunes, and when I tried to download the latest iPhone update FIVE hours ago, it looked like it was working, but iTunes and the phone are stuck in "Updating iPhone Software." I will have to disconnect again; I cannot stay connected indefinitely. The telephone support is not available (I don't know what their limited hours are), but when I called last Sunday with the same problem, they could only help me redownload iTunes - and that didn't fix my phone. Help!!

I just bought the iPhone and when I brought it home, my phone and computer both locked up during teh software update. I spent an hour on the phone with a very nice lady, but she couldn't help me. She transferred me to a product specialist, and through conversation, we realized that I was the problem. I had my phone plugged into a powered USB hub, and it just would not work that way. I figured that since the hub was 2.0 and was getting power from my outlet, it would be fine. Guess not... As soon as I plugged it directly into my computer USB port and reset everything, it worked fine. I think you said you were using a laptop to sync, so maybe your USB port is just not cutting it. Good luck w/ the fix.

Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.

  • Apple tv 2nd generation stuck during update

my apple tv 2nd gen is moving at a snail's pace at step 1, still preparing update.  What do I do?

So long as it's still progressing, I'd be inclined to leave it alone, however if it is stuck and clearly no longer progressing.....
You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.

  • IPhone was unplugged during update; now completely unusable, not recognized

So I was updating to the latest iPhone software through iTunes when somehow, the USB got unplugged. Now, the phone is always off; when I turn it on it just has a picture of a USB cable pointing towards the iTunes logo for a few seconds, and then shuts off again. It's comepletely unusable. When I plug it into the USB port, it is recognized in Windows and the computer and all, but it doesn't appear in iTunes, and the iPhone's screen is the same image as when it is unplugged.
    HELP PLEASE!!!
No phone + No music = Death.
    =[.
    Thanks in advance!
    --Sarah.

Try forcing your iPhone into Recovery mode.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone.
Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting USB cable. When you reconnect USB, the device should then power on.
Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message.
This will require an iPhone Restore.

  • IPhone data lost during update using friend's pc.

    Hello
My g/f has an iPhone 3G which she has used a lot for 18 months and had lots of saved texts and photo’s etc, but she is not very good at backups and has lost everything when upgrading from the original software, (about 2.6) to the current 4 something. Very unfortunately and unwisely, this was not even done on her own computer, but on a friend’s.
She has her own desktop pc and uses iTunes but hardly ever connects the phone and always declines to update when she does connect. She last connected about 6 months ago.
On New Years Eve we were at a friend’s house and a knowledgeable sounding guest offered to update her phone on her friend’s computer. They have their own iTunes account on it.
We connected the phone up and it started updating via the iTunes program and after one or two hours the software and firmware update completed. The sync options were then presented and as the knowledgeable person had by then gone home we thought “Well, we don’t want to sync with anything on this computer, we will disconnect and sync later on g/f’s home computer.” (We are still not quite sure what syncing is although g/f thinks she has synced before from home)
As you have guessed, the software upgraded fine but phone has been wiped of all data, pics, iTunes downloaded, texts, contacts, notes, calendars.
The obvious problem in this case is that we used someone else’s pc. I have located the mobilesync backup folder on g/f’s own pc and it is empty.
Is there any hope that we can retrieve anything from our friend’s pc which we updated on? Would a folder have been created separately on their pc for my g/f’s phone?
I was not watching the pc the whole time it was updating and did not see everything that happened, but what I have established is that when I plugged her phone to her pc yesterday I got the warning message saying that the phone has been synced to another computer, (presumably the friend’s) and all data on the phone will be erased if I sync on this one (her one).
What I don’t know is whether this warning message had come up on New Years Eve on the friend’s computer while updating, and whether it was ignored.
We have been back to our friends but they are getting a bit fed up with us, I think they will put up with us using their pc one more time so this time we will have to know what we are doing. I have an external HD so I could maybe copy the iTune files from their pc and work on them from home later?
    With thanks

Well.... I guess based on the replies, I should consider that password manager info not being part of the backup is normal for all of us.
If not, maybe it's just one of these numerous glitches and bugs I have since I own a blackberry.

Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or phobos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.

  • Help!!! iPhone was interrupted during update 2.0.1

I was in the process of updating my iPhone when I had a power failure and everything went black including iPhone.
Now When I do the key press procedure to enter DFU mode I hear the noise and I get the following Error:
*iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server*
*because you are not connected to the Internet*
Make sure your Internet connection is active and try again
If anyone knows what I should do, please let me know.

I have the same problem as is described above.
I made an appointment with the apple store. The tech performed a full restore of the firmware and all other software. After a sync to reinstall all my music, contacts and apps, I still have the same issues as before.
Should I save a copy of my itunes folder and uninstall itunes and reinstall it? It seems like a select few Original iphones do not take the 2.0 itunes update very well. My girlfriend's original iphone does not have this problem with v2.0 or 2.2
