IPhone 4s stuck in restore mode. Error (-1)

I saw a few hours ago that my iPhone doesn't play any sounds over the speakers. I tried to switch it off and on again but it didn't work. Then i tried to restore it with iTunes. While it was restoring my iPhone it also loaded iOS 5.0.1. After some minutes an error occured (-1) and the restore stopped. Now my iPhone always says that U have to connect to iTunes and then wants to do a restore. I'm now stuck in an endless loop and can't get the iPhone out of it.
Did somebody have the same problem or does somebody know a solution?
I'd be really thankful.

Unfortunately the restore did not solve the connectivity problem, but it made it even worse. The phone was not connecting to the carrier at all, constantly showing "Searching...". I tried another restore, this time it failed on three different computers (one of them was a fresh iTunes installation)... Strange, that it worked once.
@Unshaven: Multiple combinations of Power and Home button did not work either. Seems to be bricked now. I think I have to return it to Apple ...
Btw. Windows iTunes showes some log errors like 'getenv radio-error' failed and DoesDriverNameMatchDeviceID failed.
Any ideas welcome also regarding the issue of loosing connectivity to the carrier...

  • My iphone is stuck in restore mode.  I plugged into macbook and ran a restore and it is still stuck

iphone is stuck in restore mode when i did a rebook.  I hooked up to my macbook and ran a restore.   Itunes ran through the restore and now it is still stuck in restore mode.

If it won't restore in the regular restore mode, you may want to try putting it in DFU mode if you haven't already. Instructions for this are linked below.

Put it in this mode, then do a restore again through your computer.
    Hope this helps you out!

  • Iphone 3g stuck in recovery mode(error 14) after failed 3.2.1 update

My Iphone is stuck in recovery mode after it failed to update to operating system 3.2.1 . When I press restore in itunes, the process stops at around the 20% mark and come up with error 14. I have already manually deleted and redownloaded the update 4 times, reinstalled itunes twice and created a new user on my pc and downloaded and update through this new user and disabled all security but I still keep getting the same error message. My pc is only six months old. I successfully updated the phone to operating system 3.1 a few months ago with no problems. Has anyone found a way to fix this?? This is ridiculous!!

This is the only way to make sure you've uninstalled itunes completely:
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    3. Open the Program Files folder.
    4. Right-click the iTunes folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if iTunes was successfully removed.
    5. Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    6. Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    7. Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    8. Open the Common Files folder.
    9. Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    10. Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    11. Open the Windows folder.
    12. Open the System32 folder.
    13. Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    14. Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    15. Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

  • Iphone 5s  stuck at restore mode?

My Iphone 5s is stuck at restore mode I have tried numerous methods to bring it back to life. Its not working I really do not want to loose all my pictures and apps? Can anyone help me with this issue?. Connecting to Itunes is not working also tried restore mode which cancels as there seems to be an error/ connection lost.

If you've not previously backed it up, your data is already lost. Try this method:
Turn your device off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your device and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a device in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

Try looking at the following article from the Apple Support site about that specific error- iPhone 4 stuck in recovery mode. thanks. I did find this in apple support and now my iphone is back to normal.

  • IPhone 3Gs stuck in restore mode.  Unknown error 1015

Error: "iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015)".
I'm in Tanzania and was trying to jail break my phone with one of those online download programs that say they can break any iPhone. 100% guaranteed! Well, my phone is now locked up in 'need of restore' through iTunes. BUT, it won't restore. The error 1015 keeps returning at the end of the restore process. I'm up to date on iTunes and iPhone software. Can anyone help me? I'm stuck here in Africa with an 11 hour time shift from Apple tech support.

1015 error: There are 4 possible causes of this error:
The activation server truly is unavailable. Rare, usually fixed within minutes.
Your antivirus or firewall or router's firewall is blocking access to
    gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443.
Your iPhone is jailbroken or otherwise hacked.
The computer you connected to during the restore/update was
used to hack/jailbreak some other iOS device, and its
network database was corrupted during the process.

  • Apple iPhone 4 stuck in Recovery Mode (Error 1611). Any Suggestions

My iPhone 4 (16 GB) is in recovery mode (or DFU mode), but it seems to be stuck in it. For the last two days it has been telling me to connect to iTunes and when I do it tells me, "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone it can be used with iTunes". So I press restore and it asks me if I wish to Restore and Update; I agreed. I attempted the restore, but something went wrong. It goes through the "extracting software" stage fine, but when it says "Preparing iPhone for restore", the screen flashes white for a half a second or so and then it tries to start over. iTunes then leaves me with this message, "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1611)."
I have tried to get it out of Recovery Mode several times through YouTube tutorials and other websites, but when I attempt to do this, it will just go back to the "Connect to iTunes" screen. It will not respond to anything unless it is plugged into my laptop (I'm almost certain of this, I cannot be completley sure because the screen is just black if not connected). I have tried several different USB cords, re-installed iTunes and Apple programs on my computer and even made a new user account on my laptop. (I'm using Windows 7). This phone has never been Jailbroken and nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned, except the occasional time the home button would not respond.
Before this happened, everything was working fine. Earlier in the week I got the Zagg InvisibleShield applied to my iPhone and everything was working great. On the night before this happened, my battery was extremely low and I used the Apple wall charger to charge it for the night (the USB cord was torn though).
    Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated!

    Here are Apple steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error1611
Make sure you have a perfect USB cable. Maybe try to charge the battery before proceeding again.
If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage, take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
Error 1611 has been associated with the iPhones inability to hold the Restore Mode (mode where iTunes writes to iPhone) this can be due to anything. Restore Mode does need a good functioning battery to proceed. You describe some vague battery issues.
If you do not take the iPhone to Apple for help, the next step would be battery replacement.

Why is it so difficult to answer simple questions with accurate information?
30 seconds on google would have produced this for you: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error3194
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • Iphone 3GS stuck in restore mode...PLEASE HELP!!

Yesterday my microphone stopped working on my phone. I called tech support. They told me to run a restore on my phone (which I had thought I had done but didn't). They told me I would have to pay $200 to replace the phone since I am 30 days outside of my warrenty. Needless to say, when I got home from work, I figured out I didn't do the restore (I'm not the most tech savy person out there).
I have a 16G 3GS and it has been in restore mode for about 6 1/2 hours now with no progress. I do not know what to do! Nothing is happening. I use a PC with Window's Vista and have ISO 4.3.3 installed on my phone. The silver apple with unmoving progress bar are on my phone. I've tried a few fixes I've found and could understand on here with no success (ie. trying to get the computer to access the phone to jump start the process again). I don't know what else to do! I know I don't want to unplug the phone from the computer. Is there a way to stop the restore process and just reinstall the phone to the previous sync with out completing the restore? I have not gotten any error messages.
Any help in laymens terms would be much appriciated!

If this happens to anyone...follow the steps in the above article. If the phone freezes in the restore mode again follow the steps again BUT unplug the USB from the phone, then the computer and use a different USB plug on the computer. About 20 minutes later, phone is restored, synced back to my last sync and my microphone works! Only 8 hours in total but at least its for something!

Well I didnt and after the messaged left about three seconds later itunes popped up and said a phone has been detected to be restored. I have been through this process five times already. • IPhone 5 stuck in recovery mode - Error 3194 on iTunes?

    Hello,
I've had my iPhone 5 for nearly 2 years now (it's due an upgrade thankfully!), I have no problems usually updating my phone to the latest software, however last night when my phone let me know I could download iOS 8, I did so. The screen then froze on what seems to be the recovery mode, it just shows an image telling me to connect to iTunes. I made sure I had the up to date version of iTunes and upon connecting to the computer, it comes up saying iPhone cannot be reocgnised and that in order to proceed with the update I have to restore the phone to factory settings. Me and my boyfriend tried various apps such as Reiboot and TinyUmbrella to get it out of recovery mode first, but had no luck. Therefore I came to the conclusion to click 'Restore to factory settings' and twice it gave me the message 'Error 319'4 - restoration unsuccessful etc etc.. what does this mean? I tried putting it into DFU mode but the pc would still not recognise it. I do not understand what's happened!! I was going to go down to my local EE store to find out but am now thinking they won't be able to do much, and my local Apple store is about 15 miles away - so any help on here would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AmberX92,
If you receive an error 3194 when attempting to restore your iPhone, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • 3gs replacement stuck in restore mode - error code 6

I had updated my previous 3GS to OS4.0 which crashed it entirely as it rebooted continually thro the process. Good applecare service which have just sent me a new 3GS with 4.0 preinstalled.
Now setting up new phone - asked me if I wanted to upgrade to OS4.0.1 - now only detects an iphone in recovery mode. I try and restore/update but it comes up with error code 6.
I have zone alarm extreme security and have tried turning it all off and restoring as it seems to be interfering with it but with no luck. Didn't seem to have a problem with OS4.
    Any suggestions?

That error indicates a hardware failure. If you've already tried restoring multiple times on multiple computers and continue to get the same error, there is nothing more you can do. The phone will need to be replaced.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in recovery mode (Error 2006 (Mac) 2009 (Windows)

Hi everyone, my iPhone 5 has just randomly stopped working. It's out of warranty so Apple won't help at all. The screen just wouldn't turn on at all so I opened it up and checked out all the connections and somehow I got the screen on, when plugged in it shows an iTunes logo so I plugged it into my computer and it said it was in recovery mode. I try to restore and I get Error 2006 on my Mac and Error 2009 on my windows computer. I have tried all different ports and all different lightning connectors to no avail. I have also replaced the battery which didn't help.
I'm thinking it is the charging port but I'm not sure. Does it seem like I should replace that?
