Iphone 4s suggesting for restoration
I have an iphone 4s with a corrupted ios7 install and no current backup on the computer. I do have an older backup that is a year old on an older imac however the phone is not recogniged on that computer. Any suggestions

Unlocked phone - purchased unlocked.. no jailbreak..
Not roaming.. iphone sees the tower.. shows four bars - then starts searching again..
I think it is related to 5.1.1 firmware.. but not sure... just a guess.
I turn off the 3G and then once it starts searching again, I look and see the 3G is on again.. or it seems to be trying to find a 3G. I switch it to Airplane Mode, on then off.. it locks in the cell site for a minute and then starts searching again..

New iPad Air 2 (December 2014) with a persisting blank screen. Support site suggests a restore after turning off 'Find my iPhone' on the device. How can I do this with a blank screen?

After a little more searching across various online resources I was able to cure it by holding down the home button and the on/off button for 10 seconds to restart it and it all came back with a clear screen. -
I went to synch my iPhone, iTunes asked for an update, I said yes, then my iPhone froze with a silver apple showing. Any suggestions?

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

I'm installing the new OS and iPhone is asking for a password to "restore" my iPhone, but I've never used a password for the phone and don't know what it is! Can anyone help??
You selected Encrypt iPhone Backups in iTunes. Then you entered a password.
It would be that specific password it is asking for.

If you made a backup before you restored it you can restore your iPhone from a backup and your game data should be restored. When you connect your iPhone in iTunes you can right click on it in the sidebar and select restore from backup.

IPhone 3GS stuck in recovery mode, iTunes "Preparing iPhone for restore" nothing is happening.
When loading iTunes this morning an update that I had been putting off popped up and I figured since I was going to be in the house for a while I'd finally do it. An error took place that I foolishly ignored and made no note of.
My iPhone is now stuck in Recovery mode (I assume so anyway, after having googles my problem for hours), iTunes tells me I need to restore the phone and so I click to allow it to. It then gets to the "Preparing iPhone for restore" and just sits there, doing nothing.
I am unable to use my phone and I feel very much out of my depth as I have NO idea what to do. Any help (noob friendly) would be greatly appreciated.I appear to have managed to fix the issue through googling the error code (rather than ignoring it this time), and figured I'd add the solution here for anybody in the future.
I simply moved my cable connecting my pc and iPhone to a USB port in the back of my computer rather than using the ones in the front and the process kicked off almost instantly without any further issues. -
I've done all of these recommended steps. My problem is that I have a new laptop that I am trying to sync my iPhone (and iPad for that matter) via Wi-Fi but both devices are looking for the old laptop to sync. My iTunes is version 11.0..3.42, iPhone is 6.1.4, and iPad 6.1.3. Any suggestions?
All I had to do was complain. I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store. I have no idea why.

[win 8] itunes not detecting iphone in DFU mode for restore/recovery
Here is the story:
Had my iphone 6 plus for about a month now. Today I hooked it up to my windows 8 machine and itunes (both fully updated to latest versions).
Phone was detected fine, so I ran a full sync and backup to my local machine with itunes. No problem its all good.
Then went to the updates section and it said I had a new one (8.1.2 or whatever I cant remember)
I ran it, in itunes while the device was connected.
It downloaded and was going through the install process... then the screen on my phone went to the "connecting to itunes" graphic (with the cord and the itunes app icon). Thats where it sat.
So now it no longer appeared as a device in itunes either.
OK... went to the forums.
1) Tried all the reboots and uninstalls/reinstalls
2) Tried booting and connecting in "Recovery mode" (default now as all I see is that connecting screen)
3) Tried booting and connecting in DFU mode
Neither mode was detecting the device with itunes but I am getting the chimes of connection for windows itself.
I do see the device in my windows system hardware under "unspecified" as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" (and when i view details its model shows either Recovery or DFU mode depending on how I booted the device)
So here I am... stuck with a phone in either DFU mode OR recovery mode on a botched ios update and itunes wont detect it on windows 8.x
What can I do ?
Looking for some creative or outside the box ideas here. I just want a reset and restore of the backup I made on local itunes today.
If I can get the device back to even a factory reset, I am hoping itunes will detect it properly and can run a restore from it local storage.

I know you have tried uninstalling and a reinstall of iTunes, but have you checked out the additional troubleshooting steps to check the drivers to make sure that they are installed. There is also a section for what to do when your iPhone is in recovery mode and not seen in iTunes. One more thing you can try is to try your restore in another user.

I have forgotten my restrictions passcode and i dont want to lose any media on my iphone, or any apps, i am scared to back up my media for restore in future as these photos and videos mean a great deal to me, is there any way i could get around it? Thankyou if you can help; oh and last time i restored my iphone it didnt restore ALL the media only some and very improtant photos went missing :(
All media and apps on the device should already be in iTunes on the computer.
If you have forgotten the restrictions passcode, the ONLY option is to restore as new.
Then sync back any media, apps, contacts, etc back to the device.
You can not restore from backup as the restrictions passcode is included in the backup. -

What exactly are you seeing on the phone's screen ? If the iTunes icon and cable then the phone is in recovery mode, in which case it's too late to take a new backup or to copy any content off the phone - you will have to connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and reset it back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to the last backup that you took or just resync your content to it

I recently bought an iPhone 4, and it worked just fine, until I tried to sync it with iTunes. Whenever I would try to sync it, it would stall somewhere in the process, and then an error message would come up eventually. It would say something along the lines of "Process timed out, Internal Harware error" or somthing like that, there were several error messages.
So then I tried to restore the phone. I did it through iTunes, and eventually the process stalled on the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part, and then it would give me an error message (4013). My phone is stuck on the connect to itunes screen. When I do connect it to iTunes it says that the phone is in recorvery mode and that and needs to be restored. So again, I try to restore it and it gets stalled in the "Preparing iPhone for restore" part. I have also recieved the 2005 error code. I have tried to fix it by unplugging all other USB's, using a different USB port, disabling firewalls ect.. I have the newest version of iTunes, and my phone is running 7.0.3 (Can't update now that the restore is necessary, and I couldn't update anyways because the same problem I had syncing it occured when I tried to update.) I have Windows XP.Error 1 is a baseband error. If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage take iPhone to Apple for resolution of this problem. If no coverage then search the Web for Error 1. Users have reported some success with this Error 1.
