Iphone 4s unknown device

I have buy factory unlocked iPhone 4s, update software to ios6 by wifi, i download itunes because i want to download music to my iphone, firstly connect iphone to pc by usb, charging is ok, but PC can not recognize my iphone and itunes too, faults like "USB Device Not Recognized" and then "software for the device has not been established" in device Manager iphone called "Unknown Device", i was try to reinstal itunes, chenge cables, ports, computers (window mac), reboot all but nothing works, what i should do?

You may need to re-install the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver on your system.

ive got an iphone 4s which worked fine before i upgraded to ios 7. now it is stuck at the activation screen because it keeps telling me my device is unknown. i have tried activating it over wifi and through itunes but no luck, itunes tells me that there is a problem with the device and to contact a service centre. it has an active sim card in and all worked fine before, now i have a very expensive paperweight and im getting very annoyed. apple want £25 just to talk to me which i am not paying as i think its ridulous that i have to pay for thier **** up. does anyone have any adive or had this problem before?

Ok I just got pass the error CONNECT TO iTUNES and UNKNOWN DEVICE. I can not gurentee this will work for anyone else. This is what I did and it worked out:
CONNECT TO iTUNES error
1. I removed the sim card and put the device on charge for several hours, the display switch between the Apple logo and the connet to iTunes logo.
2. I launched iTunes and connect the device to the computer while the display was on the Apple Logo (not connet to iTunes logo).
3. I put the device in DFU while still on the Apple logo.
4. I forced a deliberate error while attempting to restore by selecting a older iOS firmware (iOS 6) and click restore (I got the error, maybe this step does nothing but things changed from here).
5.At this point the device remained in DFU mode and restored to the current iOS 7.0.4 firware.
UNKNOWN DEVICE error
6. After restore the device went into searching, at this point I put the the sim card into the phone
7. Select Language and Country, the device error Unknow Device (this might be as far as you can go).
8. I took the sim card out and let the phone rest. After an hour or so the device completed the search and read No Sim.
9. I put the sim card back into the phone and the phone activated.
I tried evething online and nothing worked. This is what worked for me. Hope this helps, good Luck!

I have the iPhone 3GS and I was updating to the IOS 5 version when at the end of the update it said updated failed. Now my phone is not recognized by my computer or any computer. The computer says it is a unknown device and my phone will not do anything.

Need help finding out what happened to my phone and what I can do. After trying to update my iPhone 3GS to IOS 5 my phone will no longer work and is an unknown device to any computer. It is like it wiped out everything on the iPhone and has no hardware or data on it. At the end of the download and update of IOS 5 it said there was an error during the process and gave me no option but to push ok and know phone is not working. The screen shows the USB plug and iTunes symbol, but computers will not recognize device.

Will it charge when connected to a wall outlet? The USB port on your computer must be 2.0

"Unknown Device" shown when I connect my iPhone 4 to the laptop

Hi all,
My iPhone 4 cannot synchronize to my Windows 7. Only "Unknown Device" shown on the "Device Manager" when I connect them via the cable.
The laptop is new and installed Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit. BIOS is the latest one.
iOS is 4.0 and iTunes is 10.0.1 for 64-bits Windows 7
I do not think the problem is due to the iTunes. Only "Unknown Device" shown on Window 7. I think the iPhone cannot be recognized by the laptop.I tried to connect the phone to a Window XP. It is fine. Likewise, a usb drive is recognize by the Windows 7 laptop.
I have tried
1. update the BIOs
2. Re-install the itunes
3. download the usbaapl.sys
Can anyone help as it bother me for a week.

I've seen on many of websites saying to keep it in a rice bag for 48 hours nd said it may work so i've done the same. I took out my phone from dat rice bag yesterday which worked perfectly alright for 6 hours and then switched off automatically! when i connected it to itunes it detected as a recovery device which after recovery during activation it shows as an unknown device! been working on it soo long! i live in mauritius here i have no official apple store but my phone is still under warranty. When your phone was exposed to water, your warranty/support was voided, so you no longer have any warranty. An out of warranty exchange, from Apple, is US $269. Call AppleCare or whoever handles support where you live.

IPhone "Unknown Device" issue

I picked up my iPhone 4 this afternoon and it had gone to a white screen and seemed stuck there. It would not shut down. It would not come back to life. I did a cold reset and then connected to iTunes to restore my saved setup. When I power up the iPhone, I get the usual new phone sequence up to and past the point at which I identify the wi-fi network to which I want to connect. Then the train jumps the tracks. The on-screen message in iTunes is "Unknown Device." The phone displays an error message, although now I cannot recall exactly what it says. You pros got any recommendations on this?

I downloaded the latest version of Itunes and haven’t been able to use since
Every time I connect Iphone to computer, PC recognizes (it shows on Portable devices)

I uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes a couple more times. I even tried to install a 32bit version since task manager shows Itunes 32*exe.
I finally gave in and restored Iphone to factory settings and then my iphone could only call 911 (emergency calls)
I try to connect again to restore it but it didn't work. I tried the DFU and got a error msg "error-message-0xe8000001"
I researched the error msg and found something about USB2.0. I went to HP site and downloaded an update for some drivers and voila
right now iphone is being synchronized
hopefully I won't have any problems with my contacts like I had last time

Iphone 4s is an "unknown device" and iphone 4 works just fine on my USB Hub.

Okay so for as long as I can remember I sync my iphone 4 using my belkin powered usb hub and all works just fine. Now, since I have had my iphone 4S, my computer will not recognize the device when using my usb hub. It works just fine when pluged directly into a usb on the computer itself. Why does 4 work but 4s does not? Any tips for me to try? Says something like unknown device or not recognized in a little popup in my system tray when I connect it. Thanks.

I found I was able to get around it too in a different way. I found if you disable the usb hub device in device manager, plug in your iphone or ipad while it is disabled, then enable the usb hub in device manager it works fine. So I actually ended up writing a little script with an icon on my desktop that I just double click when I connect the iphone and it quickly disables and reenables it for me. I am still not exactly happy with this solution either.

It is a 64 GB Iphone 5s and I am running Windows 7 x64 on all of my pcs.
