IPhone 4S USB Video Output

Hello,
I know there are video breakout cables that plug in the dock connector (30 pin) for both component and composite video output. With the 4S 1080p capability I know there is a dock adapter that allows for HDMI output via a separate cable.
What I want to know is with all the new USB monitors (USB 2.0 and 3.0 powered and display monitors via a USB connection) about to hit the market is anyone aware of whether or not the standard USB to 30 pin docking cable can be plugged into such a monitor for mirroring or display?
Thanx,
Macport

Brendan,
Thanx for getting back to me on this. You've got to imagine it will just be a matter of time before someone makes this happens. For now though your response helps my decision making as to a choice of mobile monitor for presentations.

  • How to get iPhone 3GS Composite Video output to work

I have a iPhone 3GS with the latest 3.x FW (Updated 2/6/2010). I bought a Apple Composite video cable which lists iPhone 3GS as a supported product: MB129LL/B (one with 30 pin dock connector, composite, audio L&R, USB, power adapter).
When I connect the cable to the iPhone, audio output from music works (but is a little quiet compared to other inputs to my stereo).
However, I cannot get the video output to show any video. When the iPhone is connected my TV goes from a Blue Screen to Black, so it seems that something is being output.
I have tried both Apple and 3rd party cables with no luck. I had the same results with the previous 3.0 FW. Phone is new as of 11/2009.
I have tried photo slide shows while connected and I also purchased a product to make a iPhone compatible video.
In all cases, the TV screen remains black, but the iPhone screen shows the video fine.

Have you tried connecting other composite video sources to your TV, to be sure the problem isn't in your TV set?

  • IPhone corrupts USB video card when it connects

I just started connecting my brand-spankin new iPhone to my Dell PC and when I do it corrupts the already-installed USB video card.
I am running a StarTech USB video card to drive a second monitor and I have had it about 9 months and it has worked exceptionally well - until I connect the iPhone via USB cable.
It hangs the second video output and after rebooting I find myself in an endless loop of "reboot because add new hardware has completed installing new devices".
This continues even after I remove the phone from the computer. I need to sync with iTunes, so if anyone has an idea on why this is blowing out my vid card I'd appreciated it.
The system gets so messed up the only thing that I have found to resolves the issue is to roll back to a previous restore point.
    Thank you.

I'm really surprised that the iPhone has such an issue. I just want to sync my music with it - and I am dissappointed.
Given that your post on this conflict is the only one I've been able to find, I'm led to think it is a computer issue, not an iPhone issue. Not a defender of Apple, but I have a Dell desktop and it has its moments of weirdness -- far more of them than my two iPhones put together.

If you had been using the iPhone for a year and then connected the usb video card, would you then have said the video card has an issue? Perhaps so, but I suspect it may be neither the phone nor the card but something about the computer.
If you have another computer, try the 3GS and video card with that and see if you get the same result.

  • IPhone 4 USB Audio output?

I'd like to know when/if the iPhone 4 will offer USB audio output (digitally). I'd like to use a USB DAC without having to pay ~$600 for a Cypher Labs Algorhythm Solo. I'm not asking for power, as my DAC has its own battery. Is it about money for licensing? The CLAS works...why not a FiiO E17 via the iPad CCK? Android has USB host capability...

Speculation and rumors are forbidden by the terms of service. The phone doesn't support it. Apple has made no announcement of such a feature or the intent to implement such a feature. Your question can not be answered. There are plenty of cheap docking speakers, alarm clocks, etc. that use audio out from the dock. It's not a matter of money. The system you refer to is expensive because the manufacturer feels they can charge that much and get away with it.

  • LT1421 as a general video output device

I know the LT1421 is generally used as a secondary monitor for one's PC, but I was wondering if it would function as a video output device for hardware such as a USB digital microscope, or a document camera.
Imagine I have a digital microscope with an AC adapter as well as a USB video output. Could I plug the USB from the digital microscope into the LT1421 and not only power the display via the microscope, but also view the microscope's video?

Unless these devices support displaylink technology then no it won't work.

When is Apple going to ... allow us to use USB 3 on a Mac Platform.
Maybe in 2011 when Intel starts using it? There's a website for this here:

  • How can I do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder which does not have firewire out/input? it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite RCA output?

I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? Browsing on internet I found that Grass Valley Company produces this converter http://www.amazon.co...=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 ..but I am not sure -not even after checking the amazon reviews- if this device will send the video signal through firewire to my laptop, in order to live streaming properly? ..anyone in this forum could help me please?
    Thanx

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera...  is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

  • TV S-Video output with Iphone 3G ?

    Hello !
I searched a lot around, but didnt'help to clarify this :
I would like to use video output on my Iphone 3G. My TV has an S-Video input.
    1) Does Iphone 3G has a S-Video output?
    2) If answer is yes : can you indicate the hardware ?
    3) If answer is no : it there something existing to convert YPbPr signal to S-Video ?
Thanks for any support because I'm not a video expert and feel a little bit lost !

Thank you for your answer. I knew this helpful article.
So the first solution is to use composite video signal.
But, as I would like to use the high quality component video signal to feed the S-Video input of the TV, my question is now :
Is there a simple mean to convert "component video" to "S-Video" signal ? Is it performed with a simple adapter or does it need an active box for signal conversion ?
    Thanks for any idea!

Yes it does.  However if you want help then you need to actually provide us with some details.
    What kind of videos?
What app were you using before?
How were outputting the video before?
    What happens when you try?

  • Can USB act as a video output??

*As far as I am aware:*
you are able to utilize USB ports as video outputs.
With a basic graphics card you can only output either:
2 separate signals for split screen from the 2 standard dvi provided outputs.
    OR
2 separate signals for split screen from the 2 USB ports.
    NOT BOTH providing 4 outputs.
    QUESTION
Does the USB port output video via the 2 graphics cards...thus providing only 2 outputs?
What are the ins and outs of dual layering graphics cards to provide further video output options?
is this expensive? does it require a new graphics cards? can i just add a further graphics card to provide 3 output for an extended screen display??
I hope I have provided enough food for thought.....Im very confused with how this all works
Any advice, help or 'know how' will be very appreciated..

    To clarify..
Im looking to extend my split screen arrangement to a further screen. making a 3 screen set-up.
Cheap is the key word.....thus utilizing USB...... this seemed to be a good answer
    thanks for your time

  • Black Magic Video USB Video Recorder H.264 Encoding

Quick question for you smart folks.  Will the BlackMagic USB Video Recorder c/w H.264 code work with FLME for MAC?
It states it works for iTunes, iPod, iPhone YouTube etc etc......but really would like to know if it will work with FMLE 3.2 Mac
    Appreciate the help
    KC

The reason why the Blackmagic H.264 Recorder doesn't work - is that FMLE is looking for RAW uncompressed video.  Lots of USB devices are encoding the output signal into MPEG 2 and other formats that FMLE and Windows Media Encoder 9/Expression Encoder 4 don't understand or can't decode.
Those using Livestream.com's service, their encoding application (without FMLE in the middle) will see the output of of the Blackmagic H.264 Recorder.

  • IMac g5, no video output

I just replaced the logic board and power supply on my G5 imac, both of which were bad.  Now, when I power on, all three LEDs on the logic board come on, t there's no video output.  The video had been working fine before the logic board and power supply failed.
THe tech note says to try resetting the PRAM.  We have a wireless (usb) keyboard, and holding down option-apple-p-r doesn't seem to do anything.  Is there another way to reset the pram?
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.  Replacing

    THanks Moke.
OK, I bought a wired keyboard and tried to reset the pram.  I think it worked -- it rebooted the computer and the chime came on again.  But there's still no video output.  Not sure if that means I should replace the screen or the video inverter or both or if it could be something else altogether.
    Any ideas?
