IPhone 4s - Voice Control

On the iPhone 4S how do you turn off voice controls?  My husband and I both have the iPhone 4s and his constantly turns on his voice controls and when we go through the settings on the phones (since mine doesn't do that) to try to find the difference he has something marked voice control by Siri and mine doesn't.  Any idea why and how do we turn off his voice control so he doesn't keep calling people by accident.  He has tried locking his phone with a code and it still does it.

We have tried turning Siri completely off and that doesn't seem to help.  He carries his phone in his pocket so when he bends down, etc. he calls random people.
Quickly press the power button to lock the iPhone. It cannot do anything unless you press and hold the Home button so I don't understand how it is doing anything unless he has small objects in his pocket pressing only on teh Home button when he neds over.

  • IPhone-4 Voice Control not working properly

I'm facing trouble with the iphone-4 voice control. Its not correctly recognizing my voice commands. When I ask it to call a specific phone number it never dials the correct number, I have notice that it happens for some specific numbers when asked to dial. Also , songs are also sometime not correctly recognized and a wrong songs/album starts playing. But, when I tried same phone numbers or songs playing command on a Google Powered android phone..it recognizes all voice commands correctly and works perfectly fine. I think apple needs to fix this issue..right now the voice control ***** big time

I'm getting this too. It's very slow and apparently thinks "Call Sue Newport" sounds like "Call Halfords" or "Call Halyards" and, most surprisingly "Call First Great Western".
I was wearing my Jawbone Bluetooth headset so it's nothing to do with background noise.
I tried the new "What time is it?" command which works but takes about 10-15 seconds to activate.

  • After backing up my phone to the new iphone 4S, voice control comes on every time I try to use siri?

After backing up my phone to the new iphone 4S, voice control comes on every time I try to use siri? I have to newest itunes so what should I do? I completley can not use Siri

Some advice from various locations on the web (use google).  Each works for some users, not all.  Give these a try.
Try to deauthorize the computer then authorize it.
select song or app. that's not authorized, itunes will ask for your password, enter password, click ok, and ok again. Done.
I had the same problem when I switched from my laptop to a macbook. What I figured out was that I had purchased applications under two different email addresses. You can click on one of the applications that is not syncing and go to "File" then "Get Info" to find out what email address you used to purchase those applications. Hopefully this helps.
Sometimes a reboot of either the computer or the iPhone or both fixes this, if you’ve authorized already.

  • How do I prevent Iphone 6 voice control from activating

I had the problem on my 4 but I thought it was just old.  Now, my Iphone 6 is 2 days old and it is doing the same thing!!!!!!
The voice control activates on it's own for no reason and then impacts music play.  The songs are sped up and then skip around as voice control keeps cutting in.  I do not have shake to shuffle on and I do not have Siri active.  This seems to be a recurring problem since the 3.  Can Apple please address it, I am about to return my Iphone 6!!

holy cow, I thought I was cursed until I read your question.  My iphone 4 was driving me crazy for its last month activating Voice Contol on its own.  I too thought it had just gotten old.  I've had my 6 plus for two days and the same thing is now happening!!   That inane blue screen and doorbell noise popping up.   I feel like throwing the phone at the wall.
Seeing you have the same problem is a bit insightful because it suggests that it's not the phone but something else.  How else could both of us have identical problems at the same time with four phones?
i am wondering if somehow we have a bugged backup that is causing the problem to propagate itself?   Sometimes my ipad 2 also has music playing issues but no voice control problems.  I.e., I can be listening to Pandora and suddenly the music pauses itself.
Another problem I had on my iphone 4 at the end was that it would suddenly pause music as well.  Other times it would speed playback up as if I were holding the scrubbing key down.  Did you have anything similar?
I wonder if backing the phone up with a version say two months or so ago is worth a shot?

  • IPhone 5 Voice Control issues

My Voice Control comes on uncontrollably, rings people without me asking it to and then the phone has what can only be described as a moment! Is my phone faulty or can I sort this manually?

I was just able to set up my phone "as a new iPhone," but the home button was *still* unusable? What?

  • Iphone 4 Voice Control not working Properly after iCloud Contacts sync

    Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem. Recently I enabled iCloud settings to sync contacts from my iPhone to iCloud.
It asked me that do I want to merge the contacts from iCloud onto this iPhone. Obviously I clicked yes.
What it did was actually not sync all but around 1/3 of my contact list and erasing the remaining. The other 2/3 of my contact list wasn't on both iCloud or iPhone.
So I decided to restore my iPhone from the backup i took just before enabling iCloud. But I forgot to switch off the iCloud settings for not syncing Contacts.
Although I recovered all my contacts from the backup, my voice control has stopped recognizing my remaining 2/3 of the contact list that did not actually sync.
It can recognize all the contacts that were synced with iCloud, but not the ones that got erased.
After backup restore, iCloud settings was switched to off state and I did not dare enabling it back on.
Has anyone observed this behaviour? I just cannot seem to get the voice control recognize the remaining 2/3 contacts at all. I tried renaming the contact that it recognized to some other name and it still does not recognize the new ones.
Please help me find out the reason for this  and how can i fix it?

  • IPhone 3Gs Voice Control does not work

Purchased IPhone 3Gs 32g beside having no service were I live (AT&T is building a cell tower about a mile from my house) my Voice control only works about 1% of the time. For the Ipod I usually get some kind of error message “like listing not found” when it does find an album or artist it always the same one. I am sick of hearing Santana. For call when I do get a signal I also usually get an error message or if it works it pick on of my doctors and that’s it.
Went to the Genesis bar and they said it was a software problem, they gave me a new IPhone with my old sims card, but the did not test the new IPhone Voice control in the store because there were on contacts or albums in the memory.
Got home synced the new one and guess what same exact problem. I have read and tried everything on the internet and nothing has worked any ideas or suggestions ? Please help I tired of listing to Santana and calling Dr. Aronald.

There's a few things you can try that might help out.
No. 1 Make sure your genius results are updated. If you're saying "Play music like Snoop Dogg" it's going to try to make a genius playlist, and that might be why you have no results found.
No. 2 Speak slower. This might sound kinda dumb, I'm not trying to be a smartass. I found that my voice command worked 200% better when I spoke just a little bit slower. Not sure why exactly, but the difference was night and day.
No. 3 When calling someone (on purpose of course) it helps to sometimes add "mobile" at the end if the number is listed as mobile in your contact book. Usually you only need to do this if the contact has more then one number, but it helps even if they don't just to eliminate any ambiguity from the voice command.
    Hope that helps!

  • Ios 6 iphone 4 voice control no longer works

  • Help!!  iPhone 4 Voice Control and screen lock

Hi.  I have an iPhone 4 and this morning out of the blue, the Voice Control started coming on.  It doesn't matter what I am doing.  Also, the screen keeps locking up.  Any screen I am on.  I do not use ear buds and it hasn’t been wet.  Please help

I tried the reset and it did not work.  What happens is I will go to an app.  (Like now I am in the text messaging app).  I am stuck here.  I can reply, create a message, and maneuver through the texting screens, but I am stuck in text messaging until I turn it off... Then, when I restart and go to any other app, I get the same thing.
Then there is the voice command.  The thing that allows you to speak a command, such as call office, or facetime...  It pops up randomly.
All of this started this morning.  I haven't dropped it, gotten it wet, or anything.  I don't understand.

  • HT3597 How to active my iPhone 3G voice control

I love my iPhone that's my baby

You should not need to activate your phone after updating it.  Just disconnect it from iTunes and it should work. Nothing that you need to do.

  • Voice Control coming on in my pocket all the time

Greetings-- I have a new iPhone, and voice control has been activating and then calling people while the phone is in my pocket a couple of times a day. I just discovered this is because Voice Control activates when you hold down the Home button, which seems to happen if I'm sitting in certain positions (my phone case makes the button more convex than concave), and then VC is trying to parse random conversation around me as names and sometimes succeeding.
Another thread seemed to imply if I turned on the passcode feature, that would solve the problem, but VC seems to come up if I hold down the Home button no matter whether I have a passcode turned on or not.
Any ideas as to what I can do to eliminate this? I don't anticipate ever using Voice Control-- is there a way to turn it off or map its activation to a different button I'm less likely to trigger accidentally?

Prevent voice dialing when iPhone is locked:
In Settings, choose General -> Passcode Lock and turn Voice Dial off. Then, you'll have to unlock iPhone to use voice dialing. You will still be able to use voice control to play music while the iPhone is locked.
