My volume buttons only show headphone volume and headphones are not plugged in. How do I get my external volume back?

    This could be due to some debris or dirt inside the  headphones jack that makes the iPhone think that the headphones are connected even when they are not.
    Try to see if you can clean the jack being very careful, with canned air as sold in electronics store.  Some people have been successful by introducing and withdrawing the headphones jack several times in a row to displace whatever is in there if it is lodged in.
    Avoid introducing anything else like a pointed object.  You could damage the jack.
    If all of this does not work, I would try first resetting the phone by holding the home button and the power button together for about 15 seconds or until the whilte apple appears, then waiting until the phone resets.  If the problem continues after this, take it to an Apple Store to see what they believe should be done.

    If you are asking for the relative volume of the speaker, it should be loud enough to make calls in a quiet to moderately loud room via speakerphone or otherwise.
    If you are asking if it is normal for sound to only come out of one side of the speaker at the bottom of the phone, then yes. One side is the speaker, and the other side is the microphone.

    Like ur self, I'm also looking for a bluetooth that can trigger the cam on iphone 4s, mainly for moment when I'm all alone for a picture.
    Have tried the following earphone without success, all purchase through Apple Store, guess will have to source somewhere else.

    I had this problem with my 4s a couple of times when I'd taken the headphones out and it hasn't registered it. My solution was easy, all I had to do was turn the phone off and then on again.
    Although I'm sure you've already tried this its a sometimes forgotten and very easy solution to a lot of problems. I hope you find out what's wrong.

  • What move to make for iphone speaker volume

    I have been reading all kinds of goods and bads about the iphones speaker volume over the last week. Yes ipod sounds good to me (Not to where I would ever wanna listen to it in speaker mode.) And NO, my speaker phone does not sound good. Way too low. Im starting to wonder if the people in the forums are saying theirs sounds fine because they have only tested it where there is silence. I'm not looking to be able to hear any speaker phone in the middle of a crowded bar, but I can not even hear it when it is all the way up and sitting beside me in the car, with the windows up. I find myself grabbing it and putting it right near my ear. So....... has anyone determined if this is a software issue or a hardware issue? Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update? I am surprised that with the release of the phone and all the questions being posted there is no portal for apple employees or techs to address some of these questions like a faqs page targeting some of the consistent questions over the last week. And don't get me wrong I love my iphone and i am not amongst the crew of people in these forums bashing it. Never owned a blackberry or treo or any of that stuff. I said years ago i will purchase something like that when apple puts one out. Never owned a pc in my life and I embrace this phone.

    I assume since the iPod is capable of putting a fair bit of volume through the earpiece that it's a software problem. Have you turned-off volume limits in Settings?
    Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update?
    Tough call, if you're trying to decide by the 14 day window. Call Apple under warranty service, tell them if they can't guarantee a volume fix you're going to have to return the phone?

    If you do not hear sound from the iPhone speaker, try these steps:
    Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
    Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
    If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
    Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
    If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
    If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
    If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
    If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.

    Sorry if this is too basic or confusing
    Apparently in iOS 8 there are different volume settings for different applications
    The setting on the home screen does not carry over to Pandora for example and it is different ( or at least appears to be) for the in-car experience.
    So I would try to stream the music when not in the car - see if you can turn the volume up and then try again in the car

    Well I Will Start Here,
    I Tried Everything I Even Restarted My Settings Just So I Can See if That Would Work Because Someone Sujested It But What They Neglected To Say That Their Probrolem Was With A Ipad ? Anywho To Keep It Short I Went Online Logged A Complaint With Apple Made A Appointment With A Apple Store In My Area To Take The Phone There After Trying Everything (Resetting, changing setting etc..........) Nothin Worked Upon Taking The Phone To The Store They Swapped Out My Phone For A New One Volume On New Phone Is Perfect And I Only Had To Wait 40 Minutes

    If it is under warranty and Apple finds it is defective then they will either repair it or replace it with a certified refurbished phone.

    Its very frustrating to be having email issues. I'm here to help. Did Any of these suggestion resolve the issue? Have you downloaded any applications that effect or sync email? Are you still experiencing sync issues? As long as your device is backed up with Gmail and you know that log in information. Please hard reset the device and attempt to add the corporate e-mail again.

  • IPhone Issues - Volume - Can't TXT to more than one contact??? - ....

    Don't get me wrong but there are a few major issues I have with the iPhone...
    First of all I was sitting in traffic today and got my first call on my new 8G iPhone. It wasn't very loud and I could barely hear my friend at all! I checked the volume and pushed the button on the site of the phone to crank it up but it was already all the way up. At first I figured it must have been an issue with my friends phone but I have gotten several more calls since then and even in a quiet room it's "soft" to say the least and anywhere else I am basically just guessing what people are talking about when I catch words here and there. Is anyone else having this problem?
    The second problem came when I wanted to send a txt to about 30 of my friends to let them know my phone number had changed. I opened SMS, created a new message, added my first contact, and then went to add the second and I couldn't find any option to do that. Am I just not seeing it or can you only send a txt to one person at a time? I mean this is ridiculous! Am I just missing something?
    The third issue was when I was txting a friend and I was telling her how good the camera was. She told me to send her a photo so I took one and then figured out that I obviously couldn't send it to her. I asked her to send me one and I ended up just getting a txt telling me to go to a web site and enter an obscure username/password. Since you can't cut and paste on the iPhone I ended up having to pull out a pen and paper to write these down and then reenter them in safari. Apple... I have a $600 camera phone and I can't send MMS! You need to fix this!!!!!!!!!
    The only thing physically I don't like about the phone is the headphone jack size. My favorite pair of headphones won't even fit without purchasing an ugly adapter.

    Loads of people are reporting low volume through the iPhone 5 handset (when holding up to the ear).
    An no, there is no film over the speaker !!
    When someone calls, the sound is muffled, sounds like a very low bit-rate call. All the volumes are up as high as they go, and i can take the call in a quiet room and it sounds the same (so not the noise-cancelling part).
    help, this is most annoying.

    Ok after some web searches and no resolution, I took advantage of my user rights (sale of goods act for the uk).
    Arranged for tech support to call me and we arranged a replacement.
    New phone arrived.
    Problem solved
