Iphone 4s white getting extremely hot

I have had my iphone 4s for 16 months, and just recently it has been getting extremely hot, to the point where it has actually burnt my finger this evening, the heat was coming from the signal bar down the right hand side, then the heat radiated from the back as well, it get hot ususally when charging but i had only been paying on my phone for about 15mins when this had happened.

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete all apps from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Hello landry morgan. Just shared. Turn your brightness to auto. If you just buy this phone. Let the battery totally drain couple of time and fully charge again. It will became great after that.my phone take 2 days to totally drain.awsome. If your location to far away from network transmitter it will became little bit hot at the battery.if you very near to wifi you will feel  your iphone5 it surf like a ferrari + no heat at all. P/n; dont look at pecentage of your battery. Just take note how many hour until its totally drain.

  • Its been like a week that i bought new iphone 5s but whenever i play games or talk in skype for an hour my iphone get extremly hot... idk why?

its been like a week that i bought new iphone 5s but whenever i play games or talk in skype for an hour my iphone get extremly hot... idk why?

Why? Because it is working the processors hard. Same as when you work or exercise, your body gets hot, so does the iPhone when it is working. Skype and many games will tax the processors more so than browsing the internet, sending texts or email. So, it gets hot. If it doesn't cool off fairly quickly after you quit Skype or playing your game, or it gets hot when doing less taxing activities, then you might want to have it checked out.

  • Iphone 4G gets extremely hot while in use

Hi,I have been using iphone 3G for quite sometime now and recently bought myself an iphone 4G. We very Happy/excited about its appearance and added features, APPLE HAS DONE A WONDERFUL JOB AGAIN!!.
    As i am using my new iphone,I am put off a with few problems i.e,I started to experience that my iphone gets extremely hot while using different applications and never experienced that with my 3G and with my friends 4G iphone using at present. My iphone 4G gets extremely hot while;
    1. taking a call
    2. using any an applications for example; using camera, accessing SAFRI, Skype and even text messaging. Any application that i use the phone starts heating up from the right side of my phone facing towards me and it keeps getting warmer and warmer and eventually the complete back of the phone.
    3. charging it gets very hot.
Last but not the least, while taking a call next to my ear its sensors sometime manual functions and it mutes or opens an other application during the call... which is very annoying
I believe that my iphone 4G will not operate for long with this over heating issue and it will seriously damage the circuits inside the phone eventually.
I am trying to take an appointment with Apple in London and would like to have a replacement and at the same time would like to request Apple to investigate this phone, avoid these issues for future iphone production. Thank you

Book an appointment at your local Apple Genius Bar to get the iPhone 4 inspected. Otherwise bring it back to where you bought it to get it troubleshooted.
Also as per the packaging it's the Apple iPhone 4, not 4G. The "4" identifies it as the fourth model in the iPhone series. The cellular chip used in the iPhone 4 supports HSPA/UMTS (3G) not 4G.

  • Getting extremely HOT!

In the last week my iPhone and charger have been getting extremely HOT! The last couple nights I can't even touch the back of phone.... What is causing this?.... How do I fix it or is it not fixable? Please help

Have you tried rebooting the phone? Hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, ignoring the "slide to power off".
Next step would be a Restore in iTunes. And if that doesn't fix it do it again and restore as a new phone.
What is happening most likely is that a background program is running continuously attempting to send or receive data. So you need to kill the program (the reboot) and if it happens again the program probably has corrupt data.

  • Mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.

The mdnsresponder will not quit.  Consumes above 100% CPU and kills my battery.  Also causes my fan to run constantly and my computer to get extremely hot.  Force quitting doesn't work.  It just comes back.   I posted about this earlier and never got an answer.  Somebody, please help.
    Thanks.

mDNSResponder is a background process that runs all the time. If you kill it, it's relaunched automatically.
Please launch the Console application and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "mDNSResponder" (without the quotes) in the search field. Post a sample of the log messages in the Console window -- only one example of each repeated message, please.

  • Does anyone Bravia XBR-55x850c gets extremely hot on the bottom surface of the TV?

Bottom surface of the X850c gets extremely hot to the touch. Does anyone have similar issue? Or maybe it's normal? Please let me know. Thanks

You need to take it in to Apple and let them take a look at it.  You have a short in your iPod Touch that needs to be repaired.

so when i play a game gta 3 or use logic 9 and do work. the compter seems to get extremely hot and im not sure if this is normal. i understand it needs to work hard so i dont expect it to be normal and at a cool temp but its heat is to the point where u can't hold your finger on the body nemore beacuse it will burn you after awhile
was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts, ideas, tips, explanations for this
    thanks in advance

If your machine isn't shutting down abruptly, it isn't getting hot enough to damage itself. It will always get very hot during heavy gaming, which is the most demanding activity you can use it for. Be sure you are always using it on a hard, flat surface that permits air circulation underneath the machine, and you may want to consider using a cooling pad under it during heavy usage.
For objective information about how hot your CPU and GPU actually get, download and install iStat Pro:

You can find out what processes are loading your system by running Application Monitor (in Launchpad > Utilities if you're running Lion or Launchpad > Other under Mountain Lion). Select "All Processes". Sort the display by CPU% (click on the label of that column). What processes show over 10% CPU?
Also, when you click on the CPU button on the lower bar, what shows as your % idle? (Mine is showing about 98% just reading and posting here.)
If no process is causing the heat, you could have a hardware problem.

  • BlackBerry Torch Getting Extremely Hot

The past few days for some unknown reason, my BB Torch has started getting extremely hot when in use, particularly when making or receiving calls. The phone then also starts to “Call Fail” when it gets so hot. The phone gets so hot it almost burns your skin if you put the phone in your pocket. If I don’t use the phone at all, it then cools down again, but as soon as I start to use it again it heats up. Also when I charge the phone it starts to charge then stops, then when you pull the charger out and plug it in again it charges again normally.
It does not get extremely hot all the time. It might work half the day normally, then all of a sudden it will just start heating up and start “dropping” the calls.
I took it in to my Service Provider today and they sending it off to Blackberry for them to look at the phone to see what is wrong. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their phone at all?

On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine
Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage
using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme
remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.

  • Macbook pro retina gets extremely hot!

    Hey guys,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina with all the settings on max (see below). I like to play games like Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft howvere when I open these up my macbook starts going crazy! The fans all turn on and the CPU get extremely hot! I mean like 92°C hot! I opened up activity monitor and found out that when running World of Warcraft it used 140-160% of the CPU (which of course in impossible!!).
Thanks in advance for any advise!

    A few things:
    1. All macbook pros get hot (retina and non-retina).  Folks here will tell you that the system will slow down (or in extreme cases shutdown) to protect the hardware.  I find this concerning but it is what it is...
    2. Games can use multiple cores which is why you are seeing > 100%
    3. 92 celcius is hot but within the operating parameters from what I have seen
    4. Some folks use stands (anything from purchased stands to pencils) to lift the computer off of the underlying surface to allow for improved circulation.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why does my Macbook Pro get extremely hot doing simple things like surfing the web?

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro. 4GB of ram 500GB HD. The last few months my mac has been getting extremely hot when I do simple things like listening to music or going on facebook etc. I have used accessories to cool it down, but it doesnt seem to work. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Might be that the vents are clogged and need a clean up. Depends on the environment it was used in (dust, smoke, etc).
Might also be that some piece of software is the culprit and not iTunes or Safari/Chrome/Firefox.
Run Activity Monitor and see which application(s) use abnormally high amount of processing power.
