IPhone 4S: Wifi died after update to iOS 7.0.x

I updated to iOS 7.0.x some time ago which broke my Wifi. Apparently, the apple store in Australia told me that I had to call Applecare since I picked my phone up in France; but there's no way of getting in touch with them through phone nor chat without paying. How would I go about doing this?
I feel a bit annoyed by the fact that hardware is working fine and software killed it. What does that have to do with my expired hardware warranty?
Anyone else in a similar situation? Would be interested to know how you resolved it.

Hi there,
I actually went into my local apple store and had an appointment in the genius bar.
They did a reset by turning my phone upside down and pressing down the button on the table.
The button seems to be permanently stuck but everything else is functioning now.
They added a new "off button" to the screen through general setting.
So now I lock the screen or turn off the phone with this digital button and not the actual hard button on the top.
In a couple weeks I'll probably order a new phone, until then hopefully this will last.

    I have just updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7.1 and unfortunately it stopped working. I can not turn it on. Anyone got the same problem? My phone is already out of warranty so I have no idea how much it would cost to fix my died phone

    My sons iPhone 5 did the same thing after updating to iOS 7.1.
    You may have to connect the device to a computer running iTunes and do a restore on the device. Restore as new. If you don't have a backup everything will be lost but you may get the device working again.

  • IPhone 4s not recognized after update to ios 7.1

    My iPhone will no longer sync nor show up in windows explorer (running Windows 7) after installing update 7.1. It may be relevant to note that I had replaced the dock connector prior to updating to 7.1, but the device was still syncing and showing up in the explorer. After updating, it won't show up plugged in and not on WiFi sync either.

    I have had no success. I have tried multiple cables which I don't believe are the issues since they charge just fine.
    Has anyone discovered a solution besides the aforementioned for this?
    UPDATE 1: It should also be important to note that the iphone does not show up in device manager AT ALL. Not under Universal Serial Bus controllers nor Imaging devices. There are no "Other Devices" or "Portable Devices" categories listed on my Device Manager.

    Can anyone please help? This community is not like it used to be...
    The worst part is, I cannot even do a restore since the device does not show in windows at all. I have even tried another computer and it is not showing up. At the very least, can someone tell me if they believe this is iPhone hardware related or iPhone software related?
    As I said, the iPhone was syncing just fine after the dock connector replacement. It was only after updating from ios 7.0 to 7.1 that the problem arose.
    Please any little bit of feedback is helpful.

    I got mine sorted. Turns out because i got it unlocked the first time getting updates via itunes causes it to restart again. Had to get it unlocked at managed to get eveything back after restoring it from itunes. Very happy cause the guy in the apple shop told me i had to call apple and pay 35euro just to talk to them! I manged to get it unlocked for only 20 and its just like it was.

    My Iphone 5 is miserably slow after updating to IOS 6.1.3.   I've tried restoring it and nothing works.  What happened? It's even restarting over and over on its own

    I guess it of no use...It is with subscription....batteries issues will not be entertain....Lots of reasons. Company will not entertain batteries issues unless is really serious.
    Anyway, I will continue to use it with bare Apps...I will not buy any apps, no movies, musics...cause it would last me a day.  I will definitely not buy any Apps.
    the last verison 6.02 was definitely better at battery management...this version is really bad.  Do not know why some users said 6.10 improved the battery....but mind did not.
    Forget about buying Apple products again...this is mind first time using a smartphone (as a gift too)...and how disappointed I am.  Truely, if company wants users to use their products, they should give decent batteries...the IP5 has the same battery as the 4S and 4S last at least 2 days. 
    With all the hype and marketing that Apple is making...a decent battery should be provided.... I am not asking for anything more....what is the point of having the most advance IOS or hardware..when batteries cannot give users a decent life (2 - 3 days are good enough) not 1 or less day....By the Way, IP5 isn't cheap.  It is were, I would not waste my time posting here....
    This is really hopeless and pointless
    Disappointed, really disappointed and displease.  anyway to get back version 6.02..cos 6.10 really hopeless for me.

    Restore the phone as new, and you will have to redownload your apps back to the phone and put your other content back in. As of right now you have nothing so, you have nothing to lose.

    Two people, one of them my sister, has reported that after updating to iOS 5 some of her apps have disappeared from the phone. I had not such thing other than iOS 5 loading all of the ones in my iTunes. Just wondering if this is happening to others too.

    I too spoke to Apple in their store. They also told me it was a unique problem. They said that if it was encrypted and I didn't have the password I would have to start again "/ I have been able to get my contacts, music and apps back but the messages and pictures/videos appear to have gone forever. The advisor told me that the pictures shouldn't even be encrypted and should appear in 'iPod Photo Cache' but that folder hasn't been updated since March! I'm just relieved to have gotten my phone out of configuration mode lol!

    hello! I updated to ios 8 two days ago and it was ok. I started using my iphone later that day and it just rebooted . Now it wont activate .

    look... I start my iphone and and it goes to main LOCK screen where a message is shown, the message is "activation needed" . After I slide to unlock  and write my security code it goes directly to the activation page , not to the very begging ,where you should select the lenguage but from the part where you have to chose a wifi connection . I connect to wifi and the activation process starts . On the screen is a message that tells me to wait a couple of minutes . After a couple of minutes there is another message shown on the screen where it tells me that the activation server is unreachable for the moment , please try again later . and this procedure can be repeated    a hundred times and the same message will appear . It wont eaven reset . Any ideas wat is rong with it

    I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS 7 today. Everything was going well; I'd been using the phone normally for a few hours. I was trying to add a picture of a friend from an iMessage to their contact card, and was at the point where I'd hit okay, and was just waiting for it to complete. It took longer than expected, but I just let it sit, and then my screen went blank and turned to this:
    The lines are not static (they appear to be moving horizontally, but not vertically), the screen is flickering, and the phone is completely unresponsive. I have tried force restarting by holding down the home and top button for up to a minute, plugging the phone into the wall socket, connecting the phone to my computer, and nothing has caused even the slightest change. I can't even get the screen to turn off.
    My question is basically, is there any hope of recovering my phone? Is there anything I can do now? If I just wait for it to die, is there a chance I can restore it?

    Sorry i know this isnt relevant to your current discussion but would you able to find out on your iphone 4 do you have dynamic backgrounds soo frustrating that my Iphone 4 8GB doesnt show dynamic wallpapers which is a right shame to the ios 7 of iphone 4

    I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0. I didn't upgrade it to 7.0 because my friends have some problems with performance after updateing to 7.0.
    Today my friend said that iOS 7.1 have fixed issues with performance on iPhone 4&4S, so I updates my OS.

    Thx, but it didn't helped - after reset iPhone still crash on apple logo, and I cannot restore with iTunes, because iTunes didn't recognized my phone.
    I can go tommorow to the iDream, but can they help me if I don't have my proof of purchase?
