Iphone 4s. Wifi switch suddenly grayed out

Iphone 4s working fine until suddenly one day wifi connection stopped. Wifi switch found greyed out. Cannot slide switch. Control center says wifi not available. Settings>general>about says wifi n/a.
Home router is fine. All other devices connecting. Forum suggested resetting. Did so, but didnt fix. Another suggestion was to heat back of phone with hair dryer. This actually worked, but only for 30 minutes.
Is there a permanent fix?

My Iphone 4s wifi icon is grayed out/ disabled I have tried the resolutions suggested to me on the Iphone website but still not working. Any ideas what the issue is?

Start with the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559 and if that doesn't help, some have found it works if you:
Settings > Airplane Mode ON and Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > Airplane Mode OFF and Do Not Disturb OFF
Now try WiFi again.
If none of this helps, visit the Apple store genius bar and have the techs test it.

Is it a work iPad or do you have an Exchange (e.g. a work) email address set up in the Mail app on it ? If you do then it's possible that your workplace, or the email account administrator, is blocking the iTunes Store app.

If Wi-Fi is greyed out, it is not possible to backup to iCloud.
If the device is backed up to iTunes and contacts, calendars, notes, etc are synced to a supported application or cloud service, and media and pictures are on the computer, then a restore will not cause any data to be lost.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Aperture 2: Adjustments suddenly grayed out

Some help for an Aperture noob please. Subject line says it all about the symptoms so I guess I need to describe how I got myself into this fine mess:
1. Imported some photos (taken with an Olympus E-510), selecting to leave the photos where they are rather than physically importing them.
2. Played about with Apertures raw adjustment settings on some of these photos.
3. Exported the photos I'd played with to directory on my Mac.
4. Created a small .me gallery and published.
I think it was after step 4 that my problems started. All the adjustments (i.e. exposure, white balance, shadows/highlights and so on) are now grayed out, for all projects. Oddly, I can undo and redo all adjustments on a previously edited photo but I cannot select any individual adjustment.
Note: This is a trial copy of Aperture. Where did I go wrong?

I experience this, from time to time, and normally I only need to again click on the thumbnail in the Browser line to have the controls turn black again. I will have to better observe the sequence of actions, but I don't think my situation has anything to do with switching into Preview mode.
