IPhone 4S with iOs 8 dropping wifi when unlocking the device
Hi,
my iPhone 4S with iOs 8 (8.1.3) is often dropping the wifi connection when unlocking the device. This started to happen only with iOs 8, iOs 7 was just fine.
When unlocking the device after at least 2 minutes of inactivity, it seems to be weekly connected on the wireless network but then it drops the connection and reconnects back again at full power. This happens:
- really, really often, but not always;
- with any access point I tried (different wireless chipsets), both on DHCP and static addressing
- with any wireless channel
- both on 802.11g and 802.11n
- rebooting the devices sometimes temporary fixes the problem (for 12-24 hours), sometimes it doesn't
- restoring the firmware in DFU mode didn't help, neither did resetting all settings and restoring as new device.
I really don't know how to fix this, I can't find anyone else having this problem on the Internet.

Started happening to me on my IP5 with ios 8, on public & private wifi, completely random and was really frustrating, I forked out for a IP6 128gb and was ok but its started to happen again so it must be an IOS8 issue. The unit keeps dropping wifi and asking for passwords it knows, ignores your input then comes back by itsself after a few minutes
To be honest Apple should be disgusted with themselves. The phone is pointless without wifi and if this is the solution it will not work as you cannot go to every router everywhere you go. $700 is a lot of cash for a useless bit of kit.

I've just upgraded my iPhone 5 with new iOS 7. I noticed that i cannot send a photo as a iMessage directly from Photo application as I could while was on iOS 6. Anybody knows something about this?
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

IPhone 4 with IOS 5 no longer appears as device
I have 3 iphones, 2 iphone 4 and 1 iphone 3g. I recently updated iTunes to get the new IOS 5. After I updated 1 of my iphone 4, everything worked fine for a couple of days. However, when I tried to update my second iphone 4, iTunes would not recognize it as a device, I tried my iphone 4 w/IOS 5, and the same thing happened, it was not recognized. I tried w/my iphone 3g and iTunes will sometimes recognize it, but not always. All phones are being charged when connected, so I dont think is the cable. I followed the troubleshooting instructions, but it did not work. Does anyone has any ideas on how to fix this? Its driving me crazy cause I cant sink my music. Thanks.
Just to double check here, are there photos in the Camera Roll? The only time the iPhone will show up in Windows Explorer is if there is content in the Camera Roll. If there is no content there it will not show up since there is no other file management that you can do from there. If there is content, try and reset the phone, will not do anything to data, by holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. See if that helps.

Note: All these ideas are a bit lame since you say that some iPhone 5s are connecting OK and they running the same iOS level 6.1 and, i think, have the same Broadcom WiFi chip BCM4334.
All devices are running iOS 6.1 right not 6.0.1, or 6.0.2?
You might want to try your iPad mini on some other WiFi networks to see how it fares there. -

What is causing you to believe that you have an old version of Safari? As Safari is a bundled application in iOS, it gets updated along with the rest of the operating system. iOS updates done over Wi-Fi are delta updates, meaning only the changes are applied, as opposed to the whole operating system being reloaded.

My Mom has tremors and when she uses her iPhone and taps to select, the way she hits the keyboard causes the copy selection to appear. It is not an issue with her phone because it does not do this for me. I would like to shut off the double tap feature. I have already tried Settings/General/Accessibility/Home speed typing = slowest.
The editing menu doesn't come up when you double tap. It comes up when you press and hold. It can't be turned off.

Is anyone else seeing this? How did this get through QA testing?
Here is my update on this issue. This isn't normal. I spoke to several tech support people, sr tech support people, etc and we found out that somehow my battery was damaged during the update. They found this out by sending me a diagnostic file via sms. I was sent into the apple store to replace my phone. I had it a little under a year, with 40 days left on my warranty. When I went to the store I was able to show the rep at the store the issue described in this thread. He just scratched his head. It was a quick swap. I spent a lot of time trying to fix this issue. I tried everything. Removing itunes_control files, several restores, starting from scratch. I could duplicate the issue every time. It's a bug and I'm sure it will be addressed. If you are still under warranty, I would recommend getting it checked by an apple tech to see if it messed up your battery and perhaps get it replaced. Battery issues on these devices cause lots of problems.

iTunes is now telling me I have to restore my phone back to factory settings :(
Yeah - I tried that, several times; each time I get "iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone" and after about 30 minutes the screen on the phone lights up again with the same screen I had before. After that ... nothing.

My Iphone 4 with iOS 5 changes without touching the glass the windows!
Since a few days my Iphone changes the windows forward and backward without touching the glass. It's very annoying because writing a new sms is very diffucult because the content is deleted an i have start again several times.
What can I do? I still reseted my Phone and put on it the Backup. But there are no changes.The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

Lcd/display iPhone 5 broken. How can I unlock the device?
I need to unlock it or even restore to factory setting in order to sell it. It keeps saying I should turn off "Find My iPhone" before it can be restored. But I can't, even from my icloud account control panel or from itunes on my pc, on which I have back ups. The buyer wants to be sure it is only the display which is broken, so I wanted to restore from my itunes, and set it up as new, so we can test if it can recieve calls. How do I get around this without the replacing the display?
Can you login to iCloud.com from your computer, locate the phone, then erase it? But, if the phone is running iOS 7.0., you will still need to do the following:

If you can't, the phone will not be able to be re-activated without knowing your Apple ID/Password.
I'm afraid you're gonna have to get the phone fixed first. Many Apple stores, in the US, will replace the screen/digitizer for US $149. -

IMessage not working with some contacts
