IPhone 4s: Won't Connect To iTunes 50% Of The Time

Ok, I'm having a problem similar to ones I've been reading about, but after browsing the forum for several hours, I haven't found one that is exactly the same.
When opening the app store from my new 4s, I can connect to the iTunes store exactly 50% of the times I try.  It's literally an every-other-time-it-won't-connect situation.  And it happens on both wifi AND 3G (verizon), in any location, and will happen whether or not I am actually logged into my itunes account.
I've tried all of the following:
- Turning on celluar data
- Resetting network settings
- Logging in and out of account
- Resetting clock (I found something online that said this might work)
What I've found is that if I open the app store, it connects.  Then, if I minimize and try to come back, it tells me it can't connect.  But if I minimize and then kill the app and then open it again, it connects just fine.
This is really more of an annoyance than anything - since so far I've been able to connect just fine by entering the app store twice, but I'd really like to fix this considering I've had the phone for less than a week.  It's my first Apple product, and all I've ever heard about was how good they are at avoiding this type of thing....
Any help would be appreciated. I've reached out to Apple for support but I fear their response is going to be generic and unhelpful.

    When you delete camera roll photos, it doen't reduce your iCloud storage because camera roll photos are only stored on your device.  It will reduce the size of your next backup though because the camera roll is included in the backup.  (Deleting photo stream photos won't make any difference because they are not stored in your iCloud account.)  That's why I was asking if you saw a reduction in the estimated size of your next backup after deleting camera roll photos.  You can see the estimated size of your next backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, then tap the name of your device under Backups and look under Backup Options.  This same screen gives you a list of the amount of data being used by the camera roll and your apps in the next backup, with the option to exclude these from the backup.
    Deleting email should reduce your iCloud storage as it is stored in your iCloud account.
    You're probably going to have problems backing up 4 devices to the same iCloud account without purchasing additional storage.  Most device backups are in excess of 1GB.  Four device would probably exhaust your free 5GBs of storage, leaving you no room for email, contacts, calendars, notes and other synced data.  If you don't need to share the same data with all four devices, another option would be to migrate some (or all) of them to separate accounts, giving them 5GB of free storage each.  Another option would be to backup some of the device to your computer using iTunes rather than iCloud.

  • IPhone 2G won't connect to iTunes

    I did a factory reset on my original iPhone, now it won't connect to iTunes.
    iTunes is up to date (v11.4), an iOS is also (v 3.1.3).
    What gives, Apple??? It worked fine before the restore.

    Yes, I tried recovery and DFU. Neither works. Even when the phone is clearly in recovery and dfu modes, it still doesn't show up on iTunes or even device manager. I've also tried downgrading iTunes to an old version, but still no luck. I've tried PC's and Macs; I've tried new cables. I think Apple is bricking old phones to get people to buy new ones.

    If you computer recognizes your iPhone but iTunes doesnt try uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes. If your computer doesnt recognize your iPhone try a different cable and different USB ports, if it still doesnt connect try connecting your 3GS to another computer. If it connects to another computer fine then their is something wrong with the usb ports on your computer.

    It does not use SD cards.
    Fake iphones are really Android phones using the skin of iOS6.
    Click on the App Store icon. If it takes you to Apple's App Store, then it's a real iPhone.
    But if you are directed to Google Play, then I'm afraid you've gotten a copy.

  • Iphone 3g won't connect to itunes/computer

    Recently I bought my friends Iphone which had 2.2 FW on it.
    When I took it home I couldn't get it to charge via my ipod cord or acknowledge that it was connected to the computer in anyway. The odd catch is that it will charge via the same cord plugged into the wall adapter AND, if the iphone is off I can still do things like hold the home button in and then connect the ipod cord which is hooked up to my computer and have the phone turn on. This isn't making much sense to me. I reset the phone to factory defaults from within the phone, and am now in my current situation. I am stuck at my activation screen, I can't connect to itunes because the iphone doesnt show up, no smaller programs like ziphone detect my phone, just a few minutes ago in the car my friend took his iPhone and connected it to the deck in the car via the usb 2.0 hook up and his phone showed that it was charging, tried the same thing with mine, nada. What can I do? Does anyone have any insight into the issue? hardware? software? anything will help. thanks.

    try another USB port on your computer. If it is a PC there also exist sometimes driver problems with some OS and motherboard combinations.

    My little cousin blocked my iphone and it now says to connect to itunes. i've never synced it before and i did try to use the "hold the home button and then connect to usb cable". It doesn't work.. :/

    You must follow the instructions in the link provided TO THE LETTER. Do not skip any steps. Do not try to outguess the instructions. And make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (12.x).
    BTW, if you have never synced or backed up before you will lose all content from your phone. Nothing will be recoverable.

    I understand that when you connect your iPhone 4s to your computer it does not show up in iTunes. If iTunes in your Windows computer is not recognizing the iPhone when it is connected, I suggest the steps in the following article.

    I just updated my iPhone 5S to 7.1.  Since doing so I cannot connect to iTunes via my MacBook Pro. My iPhone just vibrates once plugged in and I get an error message in iTunes (eventually) stating that my iPhone can't connect. I back up to iTunes.  HELP

    1. change date and time to MANUAL
    2. set date one year ahead
    3. restart phone
    4. ignore all message you get on restart. go to setting for date and time, set to automatic
    5. close setting. sign on to itunes, you will need to enter your apple ID and password

  • Since Update - Mail won't connect to server 50% of the time?

    There have been a few minor glitches since I downloaded the recent update (screen freezes for 2-3 seconds, buttons are non-responsive or overly sensitive), but the most frustrating problem that SEEMS to relate is:
    About half of the time, when I try to manually update my Mail, I get the message: "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server "imap.aol.com" failed" (yeh, I use AOL...) I haven't seen this message since the first few days after I purchased the iPhone. Now I see it all the time.     Mac Book Software Update not working (Software Update does not have any new software for your computer at this time), my current MacBook version is 10.5.8.
    As a result I can't update iTunes, version 10.5.2  (This software requiers Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later)
    Now when I connect my iPhone 4, version iOS 6 iTunes can't connect to iPhone (The iPhone "XXXXX's iPhone" cannot be used because it requiers iTunes version 10.6.3 or later.)
    so in a nutshell can't use iphone 4, because iTune is not updated and will not  update because Mac Book is not up to date and will not update either.
