Iphone 4s won't sync to iTunes. Unknown Error (-54)

I have Windows 8.1 and this is not the first time I've received this error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have completely reset my phone, and I keep having this issue pop up. All I'm trying to do is sync music onto my phone, and it never works. Please help me figure out what I have to do to PERMANENTLY fix this issue.

Remove and reinstall iTunes.

  • IPhone 4 won't sync to iTunes on iMac

Recently my iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes on my iMac. When I connect my iPhone iTunes recognizes it and I'm able to click the sync button. It goes the the sync steps, but at the end it says it can't sync becasue my iPhone is not connected to iTunes even though it is.
My iPhone, iMac and iTunes have the latest software updates.  I'm running OS X 10.6.8.
I've tried rebooting both my iPhone and iMac, but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm only asking this because I just got my phone unlocked, and the service provider suggested that I restore my iPhone by syncing it with Itunes.......but maybe I don't have to restore my phone?  Anyone with advice/suggestions?

My iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes
I am running iTunes 11.1.5.5, and my phone is using iOS 7.1
Windows 8 recognizes that the phone is connected, and even asks if I would like to download pictures, however iTunes will not.
So far, I have stopped and restarted AMDS, iTunes, my laptop, and the iphone. None of these have had any success. I've tried using a different cable, but the results were the same. The phone can download songs via its own iTunes app, but cannot sync with iTunes on the laptop.
How can I get my phone to start syncing with iTunes again? This problem occurs sparatically, sometimes syncing and sometimes ignoring the phone altogether, like it is now.

Does your Mac meet the requirements for the latest version of iTunes?
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    Safari 4.0.3 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
In the future, you're more likely to get faster, more appropriate responses by posting to the correct forum.  The iPhone Hardware forum is not the correct place to be posting issues regarding iTunes on your Mac.

  • IPhone 3GS cannot be synced.  An unknown error occurred (-39).

My iPhone 3GS won't sync.  I get an error message in Step 5 of 5 when it's trying to delete photos.  The message says "The iPhone "iPhone 3GS" cannot be synced.  An unknown error occurred (-39)."
How do I fix this?  Is there anyone out there who can please help?

Try restarting your phone and computer, use a different USB cord, use a different usb port on your computer.  Try these to see if any of them help.  Good luck!

  • IPhone 4S cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54).

iTunes is up to date and running current version 12.1.1.4. Have never had an issue syncing my iPhone 4S until today. The message I get is that my iPhone...."cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54). Any ideas?
So far, I've tried it a couple of times all resulting in the same message. My next step was to reboot the computer. Did that and attempted to sync and got the message. Would it be best to uninstall iTunes and reinstall and then try it again? I appreciate your help.

Thank you for for the link to the unknown error (-54). I checked iTunes and all was in order with my being the administrator. I also followed the suggestion of "Run this as an administrator" when opening iTunes. I attempted to sync the iPhone and I did not get an error message so I assumed it synced. As a small test, I removed some photos and contact information from the iPhone and tried to sync again. I then verified the new photo count and it matched on iTunes, so I can only assume it is working. Thanks again for your prompt help.

  • IPhone 5s won't sync to iTunes

My iPhone 5s won't connect to my iTunes. I was able to get it to connect to my computer so I can pull up all of the pictures, but for some reason, it doesn't show up on my iTunes when I pull it up. I'm not sure what's going on. I haven't changed anything on my phone since I last synced it, so I'm sure that it has to be on Apple's end.
Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated!

  • ITunes won't sync w/ iPod: 'Unknown error (-69)'

I tried to manually back up my itunes by moving the files to my external hard drive, but then when I did a disk cleanup and defrag, they all vanished from my itunes! I found them and manually dragged all the folders back into itunes, but when I went to sync my ipod, it said it was a new library, so it needed to erase and re-sync. I did that, but it only put about 1400 of my 4800 songs on there, before saying, 'an unknown error has occured (-69).' It then disconnected the iPod from the computer.
I've tried restarting and reconnecting things multiple times, same error result. I've also tried playing some of the songs that won't copy in itunes, and they play fine. I know I probably did something wrong in the way I moved the files around, but how can I fix it? Thanks!!!

Ok, so the three corrupt songs were all ones I had legally downloaded from iTunes...all ones that were $.99 when purchased and are now $1.29...hmm, that's convenient for iTunes. But anyway, the problem I posted is solved, so thank you!!!

  • Iphone not syncing to itunes unknown error -50

My iPhone 4S isn't sycing to iTunes, I get the "Uknown Error (-50)" ...it won't let me update my iPhone either...help anyone?!

    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network

  • Iphone 5s won't sync with itunes on windows 8 - i can see all the tunes in there, artwork etc but they won't play

    Hi
Hope one of you can help, thanks in advance.......
    windows 8/iphone 5s/latest IOS
I've synced my iphone with my pc and backed up too and when i go into music on my iphone i can see all the tunes listed on there including album covers etc but when i go to play one of the tunes nothing happens or sometimes the phone goes kind of crazy and seems to scroll through every album (visually) on the phone and then stop?! still without playing any actual music?
In the apple store they told me to un-sync music and then re-sync which i did but this hasn't worked. although when i had un-synced and went into my phone to check whether music had been removed it was still there (but still didn't play as described above)
so really i want to know either 1) how to properly delete all the songs from the phone and then re-install them or 2) just get them to sync properly!
Other info - i transfered itunes to a new pc recently and up until just now, i couldn't play these tunes on itunes on my PC, they opened in some terrible microsoft thing - but i just changed the file associations inside windows and now they play great - just not on my phone as described above - maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Also, this only applies to music copied from cd-> itunes on pc 1 ->itunes on pc 2-> iphone.   songs purchased from itunes store work fine
    Thanks for reading

"I was thinking I would just connect my iPhone and all of my music and other stuff would transfer to the new computer. "
Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • TS3540 Iphone 4S won't sync with iTunes after update to 11.1.3

I have updated all softwares on my Macbook Air 10.7.5, included the iTunes 11.1.3.
Once i plugged my Iphone 4S IOS 7.0.3, iTunes wouldn't see it, recognize it or sync.
    Other iphones show up.
    What is up?
    HELP! It's driving me crazy!
    Thank you!
    Melanie

This seems to have fixed the issue: on your desktop, hold down the [OPT] key and click on "Go" in the menu bar; holding down the [OPT] click on Library, find Preferences, and then delete all the files that start with "com.apple.itunes.XXXX.plist" where the "XXX" is whatever other things may exist - as long as they end in "plist". From my experience, preference files are rebuilt by the system after the next restart, so you have very little worry of losing any important data; the worst that could happen )and NOT in this instance, but for other plist files) is that you may have to reset the application "preferences" again when you next start it up, to act or appear in a "preferred" customized way for you.
Once you delete the .plist files, empty the Trash, and either log out or restart the computer. Once you're back up and operational, start iTunes and your iDevices should reappear in the sidebar (if that's open) and/or at the top of the screen (if that view is enabled).
Hope that helps. It definitely fixed my problem!

  • Iphone 3g won't sync in Itunes after 3.0 update

    Hello everyone,
I updated to OS 3.0 on Wednesday, and had no issues with the installation. I just came to work, placed my iphone 3g on the dock, and iTunes gave me the spinning wheel. The iphone is recognized briefly in Itunes, but doesn't sync. I have to wait about 1.5 minutes for itunes to respond. The iphone then disappears from the itunes sidebar.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue?

    Let me rephrase that
If I have a current backup of my iphone saved on my Macbook Pro. Will all of my apps, including their settings, layout on screens, remain intact after I restore the iphone, and then restore from backup?

  • My ipod won't sync because of "unknown error 13019" Help!!

What does unknown error 13019 mean?

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Try disabling automatic syncing of the iPod from iTunes preferences. Also, take a look at what's syncing to the iPod when you see the error and try to uncheck that to see if the error stops. There might be a bad file in that group of content.
