Iphone 4s wouldn't start after ios update

I just updated my ios to 5.1. download completed, phone restarted, etc. All looked ok and i have got to the screen when it said that YOU CAN START USING YOUR IPHONE. when i click on the button it restarts and goes back to the same CONFIGURE menu. anyone faced the same problem?

Hello - I have the similiar problem with my wifes iPhone 4s. It sucessfully installed the ios 5.1 however on restart it came up with the grey iphone setup screen. Once you enable location services, select your wifi network it prompts you saying that your iphone is ready to use (CLICK TO USE YOUR IPHONE).
Almost immediately after that, the screen flashes the home screen then it restarts itself back to the setup menu. I cannot get past this menu.
I have tried-
1. Restoring the phone to new
2. Restoring from a backup
3. Hard and soft resets
None of the above have fixed the issue. I have a genius bar appt with apple today to see what the problem is and if the phone is now a dud because of this new ios 5.1 update. REALLY FRUSTRATING!
Please let me know if there are other forums or folks having the same or similiar issue and what is being done to fix the problem.

when I try to turn it on, i get the standard apple icon, then a usb symbol will appear with an arrow above it, and the i tunes symbol above that.
Its obviously telling me to connect to itunes, but when i do, the device registers, but only prompts me to reset the phone. After doing that, same prob...HELP

If connecting in recovery mode, as explained in this article did not help to restore the phone again, you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple Store next to your place or by contacting Apple Support.

I updated my 27" Imac memory up to 16 GB, so I was encouraged to do the same with my Mac Book Pro after watching the video and instructions. However My Mac Book Pro wouldn't start afterwards. It is driving me crazy. Please if someone can help me on this. Thanks

I was trying to install Corsair 8GB (2x 4GB) 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory Kit CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9; and now I realized that I made a mistake because this Mid 2010 Mac Book Pro uses 1066mhz PC3 8500 instead, so should that be the problem of compatibility? I should guess so, although in my HP Elite I have 800Mhz ddr2 where the bus works at 640 mhz ddr2.
The rest is the same being 204 pin memory cards, etc.
I made this mistake because ordered at the same time this memory along with memory cards for my new 27" iMac, which works at 1333Mhz.

IPhone 4 downloading old mail after iOS update

I have the mail app set up to download my comcast email. I have it set not to delete messages from the server because I still want them to download into outlook on my home computer. I have had it set up this way since the original iPhone and never had a problem. Now after installing the new iOS, it is downloading all my old emails over again. How do I make it stop doing this? I have not changed any settings. I only installed the new iOS that came out when 4s was released.

The phone will still download the most recent emails from the server. The number of recent emails it will download is in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Show [50 or 100 or 200] Recent Messages.

Did you try resetting the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

IPhone 3GS Audio Volume Decrease After iOS 5 Update

The Audio/Volume on my iPhone 3GS has Decrease SIGNIFICANTLY After iOS 5 Update. Oddly, the volume of the ring is fine, and as lout as it used to be, and as loud as all other audio should be, but when using any 3rd party applications, the volume output is significantly less (about 40% less) than it used to be.
I am NOT the only person to experience this problem. Apparently, the issue has been around since this past summer, when iOS was still being developed / tested. There is a post about someone experiencing the same issue, here:

And before you ask .. I did a language change and reset, and I am still experiencing the SAME issue.

If your iPhone is unresponsive after updating your iOS version, then I'd like you to please follow the troubleshooting below.
If you see a black screen
You might need to charge your device before it can turn on. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad), then try turning it on.
You should see a battery icon while your device is charging. If you continue to see a black screen, reset your device. If your device doesn't respond when you press buttons
Your device might not return to the Home screen when you press the Home button, wake from sleep when you press the Sleep/Wake button, slide to unlock or power off, or it might appear frozen. Try these steps:
Restart your device.
If it still doesn't respond, or if it doesn't turn back on, reset your device.
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

Cannot join network after ios update

After ios update i cannot join on my ipad network

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not synced. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not touched with the iTunes sync process. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer which is not handled by iTunes. Most importing software includes an option to delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. If is my understanding that some Windows import software supports importing photos from the Camera Roll, but not videos. Regardless, the import software should not delete the photos/videos from the Camera Roll unless you set the app to do so.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup. If you synced your iPhone with iTunes before the videos on the Camera Roll went missing and you haven't synced your iPhone with iTunes since they went missing, you can try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup. Don't sync the iPhone with iTunes again and decline the prompt to update the iPhone's backup after selecting Restore.
