Iphone 4sand tomtom hands free holder?

Okay then. Iphone 4s and tomtom handsfree car holder. I have tried to connect both via bluetooth and nought. not a peep. I now have an expensive holder and a phone that doesnt connect. Can Apple explain why this is? Can Apple explain why they have not updated bluetooth for other devices on the IOS?,or is this a rip off?

this should meet your requirements - http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip-handsfree
the other option would be to go with one of the "high-end" portable gps from Garmin for example, but I suppose you already have one...also they usualy don't have a holder...I don't think that anything will have voice commands though, unfortunately. I had to install a Pioneer stereo with navi/ipod/bt all in one.

  • IPhone G3 for Hands Free Communications in Car

    Is the new iphone G3 designed to work with a car kit that will broadcast cell phone conversations over the car speakers...like the Parrot system? Of course, one would desire to have ONLY verbal communications (no key strokes) required using the combination of the iPhone and the car kit (e.g. Parrot system) which would recognize iPhone settings to call a person's phone number. This feature would not require a head set unless desired. Such would be 100% hands free as required by CA starting on July 1st.
    Based on my previous research on the subject with the original iphone model there were six protocol profiles that were required and not available on iphone at that time. They are:
    GAP = Generic Access Profile
    SDP = Service Digital Profile
    OPP = Object Push Profile
    HSP = Head Seat Profile
    HFP = Hands Free Profile
    Whether this protocol info is accurate or not I do not know, but at that time Parrot confirmed that the original iphone will not work with their system. However,if I remember correctly, they may not have agreed with the list of protocols required which were obtained from Pioneer. Pioneer makes a car radio model with blue tooth, which also transmits the conversation onto the car speakers.
    Thanks for any thoughts on this subject.

    Hey Shane!
    You could always try going to Toyota and see if there is a firmware upgrade available for your car.  Even though your car is new, there are always firmware releases available.
    New Phones don't always work with older firmwares in new Car Stereos.  With Technology changing everyday you want to make sure your always update on all devices involded.

    Good question... I haven't found a "reliable" way of sending constructive(!) Feedback to those at Apple who really care. I remember the beginning days of Mac OS X, when the reply-link was even on top of the dock.
    Maybe I'm just not aware of working feedback channels, I only can hope that some of Apple's people with "influence" read statements like this...

  • Iphone 4   Pairing   2010 Honda Civic with hands free link.

    I purchased this vehicle several months ago and paired my iphone with the hands free link with no problem.  All the sudden last week I started my car and noticed that the hands free did not connect.  I haver since tried numerous things, such as deleting the phone from history from the car system and try to pair again with no success.
    The iphone picks up the hands free link system. The hands free link gives the pair code (0000).  I enter the code, but then a message on the iphone states the code is correct but the pair was unsuccessful.  How can I correct this?  Thanks.

    Remove the phone from the device list in the vehicle. Remove the vehicle from the device list on the phone. Do a reset on the phone, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, turn Bluetooth on for the phone. Then go into the vehicle and follow the manufacturer's instructions for putting the vehicle into pairing mode. See if you can pair the two devices.
    On occasion, devices will not always connect automatically. If after the devices pair this happens, just go into the Bluetooth setting on the phone, locate the listing for the car and tap on it. It should connect then. This will prevent the need to try and pair the two devices again.

  • IOS 8.1.1 - Issues with hands free (Parrot MKi9100)

    Dear Community...
    I have updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1.1.  Exactly since that day I am experiencing an issue with my in-car hands free kit (Parrot MKi9100):
    Normally, while the iPhone and the hands free kit are connected, whenever the iPhone makes a sound (be it phone-calls, music, notifications or the text-to-speech function), the hands free kit jumps in, muting my car radio and playing the iPhone-Sound over the car speakers.
    On iOS 8.0, that would only function with phone-calls, any other sound was not transferred to the hands free kit.
    On iOS 8.1, the issue was fixed, and everything worked fine.
    On iOS 8.1.1 the following happens: Whenever I wake my iPhone (i.e. pressing home-button or sleep-wake button, even without unlocking the phone) the hands free kit jumps in and mutes the radio... although the iPhone is not about to make a sound... This also happens, when the iPhone is switched to silent mode. Whenever the iPhone-Display is switched on, this will mute my car radio, as if the hands free kit was awaiting a sound from the iPhone.
    This makes it impossible to enjoy the car radio and using the phone (of course only the passenger will use the phone, while I'm driving... I am a responsible driver...)
    But nonetheless: Is there any known fix?
    @apple: If not, will this be fixed with 8.1.2?
    Thanks and best regards

  • Hand Free Link when in Maps

    When I get in my Honda accord and my iphone 6 links up via bluetooth, then use maps, it always defaults to giving map directions via the hands free link (honda speaker system).  Each time I start a map I can click on microphone and tell it to use iphone rather than hands free link.  Is there a way that I can set things up so that it always defaults to iphone?  Also when I use google maps, I would also like it to use iphone for audio.  Can't find out how to change this in google maps.
    Also, is google maps more reliable than the iphone maps?

    Just as a side question:
    Have you ever loaded a tracklog containing different tracks belonging to more than 1 month?
    This is what a tracklog with tracks from 10/14/2011 to 11/07/2011 looks like here:
    Dropdown for the first November 2011 row:

  • Hand-free link in Accura MDX cannot connect to phone after update IOS 7.1.2

    After I updated the IOS 7.1.2 on both my iPhone 5s, the hand-free link in my MDX 2005  cannot connect/recognize to both my phones anymore.  What should I do? Please HELP!

    Apparently there are no supported carriers in Pakistan. So the carrier update was for a non-Pakistani carrier. If it worked in the past your phone was probably hacked to add local carrier support.

  • Ref Hands Free Voice Dialing

    Why does the IPhone not offer hands free voice dialing? If and when will this feature be available? Most important for save driving! Reason I returned mine the day after I purchased. Assumed such a sophisticated phone would have handsfree voice dial. Cost me 50 bucks which I see as a ripoff!

    Thank you so much for your response! I was so disappointed about the phone! Due to several disabilities this phone is answered prayer for me. It was the hardest thing for me to return it. I was worried that Apple would make a better phone which I could not afford if I kept this one. So, do you think it would be safe for me to go back and rebuy the IPhone and then just wait for the updates? I assume the updates can be downloaded to the existing phones that people have already purchased. So not to look not so bright, your response is, updates are around the corner for the owners of the present IPhone. Please let me know. Thanks again for your positive response. I sure hope Tim feels much better now! And a big thanks to Tim for making me aware of the importance of the preview button!

  • Hands-free driving and headphones

    Our State of Washington will soon require hands-free use of cell phones while driving. I also understand that drivers are not allowed to wear headphones when driving a car. Because using headphones with the iPhone allows for hands-free answering of phone calls, does anyone know whether this form of headphone use will be legal for such purposes?

    Id imagine that you could get away with any one ear'd BT headset. It doesn't play audio and you still have one uncovered ear.

  • I can not pair my I phone to my car hands free

    I can not pair my iPhone with my hands free to work

    Just make sure you're not paired to anything at the time and open the bluetooth settings, you should see a message that your phone is in discovery mode, at least in iOS6

  • How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?

    How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s?  I have a bluetooth car device and when I try to talk through it (as I did with my old phone) to call someone it does not work.  so far only hte last person called is redialed.

    That is a carrier-based service. So first you have to make sure your service contract includes that feature.
    It usually also includes Call Hold. So you call the first party, put them on hold, call the second, then reactivate the first. But only if your carrier allows you to.

  • Hands Free Bluetooth on my Iphone Stinks - Lots of Questions

    I'm not new to iPhones... I've had 3 now.  I just got the 6.
    I upgraded because I thought the fingerprint recognition would provide a better hands free experience in my car.  I have a Ford Fusion with Sync.
    First thing which is probably more of a comment that hopefully someone will have a suggestion for...  I can't believe that the only option the iPhone gives you with the fingerprint recognition is to require it IMMEDIATELY...  Why is that option even in there if it only has one option to pick from?  So now, when someone texts me, I hold down the main button and use my fingerprint to get in, then tell Siri to text them back.  I don't want my screen on all the time, so I hit the button to turn it off.  They text me again a minute later and I have to do the fingerprint again.  I really wish I could say to not require a fingerprint for 15 minutes or half an hour.  Why don't they?  They let you set that time if you are using a passcode.  It's ridiculous.  It shouldn't even be in the menu system if you click immediately and it's the only option in there.
    So...  I just feel like this fingerprint feature is actually making texting in my car harder than it already was.  At least before I had it set to not bug me for a password for 15 minutes...  So if I was in a convo, I could just hold down the siri button and communicate back and forth while driving.  It already stinks that Sync and iPhones don't work for texting together.  From what I hear an Android would be WAY safer when driving.  Especially the ones with the quad processor that are constantly listening for your commands.  Then there's no buttons to push at all, and if it knows it's in a safe environment like your car's bluetooth, it doesn't even bother with passwords...
    What's the suggested way to do this?  Turn off passwords every single time I get in my car?  I really don't want to have to touch my thumb to the thing with every single message I send.  I really don't want to keep the screen on while driving.  It's just not a very safe phone considering where technology is.  What do you guys do?  And am I missing something?  I am not going to get Apple Car Play when my car came with built in bluetooth and a cool system already, with steering wheel controls etc...  And to any the people that might think replying "You shouldn't be texting in your car anyway" or "Just wait until you get to your destination..."  That's not helping.    It's not unsafe if you can do it while keeping your eyes on the road...  Which is what I'm aiming for.
    Suggestions??  Thanks!!!!

    I had this problem and what I did was: read the user manual. I was actually using the wrong buttons to put the Tri-BC200 on pairing mode. I also boot my I phone. Everything worked OK. Regards.

    Hello there stidhambr15,
    I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.

    Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.
