IPhone 5 1080p video
My iTunes preferences are all set to 1080p for HD movie downloads, although Apple says my iPhone 5 will play 1080p video, its only downloading the 720p version to my device. Does anyone know why this is the case?

haha...its 'marketing' all right..not science... 1080p video means 1080 number of vertical lines. iphone 5 is 1136x640. so it really doesnt even have the number of lines required for half-HD which is 720p. In any case, you won't see any difference viewing 720p vs 1080p on the iphone because the # of lines are just not there. Now if you are downloading and connecting to a hdtv and streaming thats a different thing because the hdtv will support 1080p. but the phone does not.

No. Only the iPhone 4S, iPad3, and TV3 currently support 1080p30 content. Even then the 1080p30 playback support for your monitor may depend on how the device is connected. The iPhone 4 is limited to 720p30 playback.

Not on your current device. As previously stated, the latest generation of iPhone, iPad, and TV devices support a maximum 1080p30 playback capability but may be limited to lower resdolutions depending on your method of connection to your monitor. This information can be found on the Apple web site TechSpecs page for each respective device. -
Can the ipad2 export 1080p video?
I know that iMovie allows this and so does vericorder 1st video, but I haven't seen this capability in any other app. The guy who makes Videograde had this to say:

I'm, not sure what to think - the latest avid app only allows 720p export on the iPad 2. Surely they would have provided 1080p if it was allowed. Then why does apply only allow it in iMovie????? So confusing!!!!!!

The iPad 3 (aka 'new iPad') specs are crystal clear when it comes to video out: AirPlay video streaming to Apple TV (3rd generation) at up to 1080p and Apple TV (2nd generation) at up to 720p
The iPad 2 specs are vague: Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p with Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (cables sold separately).
No mention of Apple TV.
Does anybody know for certain whether the iPad2 will support 1080p video streaming to Apple TV (3rd generation) ? -
Ipad 4 can't play 1080p videos
Hi,
I am using an iPad4 running iOS8.3. I recently discovered that iPad4 cannot play (and not even display) my 1080p video taken using iPhone 6 in the photos app. However, when i used a software to downconvert the above video to 720p, iPad can play it. Next I did another experiment, I then tried to convert the 1080p video from .mov format to .mp4 (DivX) format - same resolution. Similarly it could not be played.
This lead to the strange conclusion my iPad4 cannot play 1080videos in the photos app?

Can 1080p videos be watched on mobile devices?
When I export a video it asks me what resolution I want it to be. For the 1080p option iPhone and iPad arent checked. Does this mean when I upload it to youtube my video cant be viewed on mobile devices? Thanks in advance.
Now most devices supports to play 1080p videos, but what matters is the video format, say, iPhone, iPad can play MP4, MOV, and M4V videos, namely, it cannot play other videos in 1080p format. But there is a solution to solve this problem, with a Video Converter for Mac, you can easily convert 1080P AVI, WMV, FLV etc to iPhone, iPad supported format.

Where is the App icon for HD 1080p Video? From the online photos it should be separate from the camera App.
It's supposed to have a blue background with 1080p in white, while inside there is a white camera with the letters HD in blue.
I cannot find this App icon. Where is it located? It was supposed to be preinstalled.

Can't export to 1080p video in iMovie
I've imported a video taken with my iPhone 4s into iMovie 11. I confirmed the video is actually 1080p. In iMovie I then select Share -> Export Movie, the only size available is "Large 720 x 540" or smaller. Since this was 1080p video to begin with, shouldn't I be able to export it as 1080p?
So, I searched and found a youtube video describing how to export 1080p video using QuickTime. I followed the video step by step, but when I got the the part to select H.264 format, that format was unavailable.
What do I have to do to export 1080p video?

Im curious about this point. I recently imported some video from a 5S, the option on my mac said, import as large or original, when i checked orginal I got a warning saying it may lose quality on playback so I checked large. I want to keep the quality from the 5S so I can export to itunes and watch on my HD tv with apple TV, by checking large does that decrease quality or is it the correct default?
My macbook is non-retina so I am assuming the playback quality it refers to is on my mac. I have changed the default to original even with the playback warning - is this correct? -

I have the same issue as well, I found the ONLY thing that made it somewhat better, not a fix but better, was to change the DNS settings of your wifi connection on the iPad itself to Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4). The feed still stops and buffers but at least it plays. I have a 60Mbps U 5Mbps D with a 39ms Ping connection so same as the rest of you, the internet is not the issue...
On iOS 8 go to Settings, Wifi, click the by your current wifi connection and update your DNS server to one of the Google DNS addresses above. None the less I wish Google would fix this ASAP! Glad to know I'm not alone... -
IPhone Jabber Client Video Calls Unavailable
I'm having trouble getting my iPhone to make video calls. I can make video calls via J4W with the same CUCM/IM-P cluster, and my iPhone Jabber client is having no problem getting IMs, presence information, or making standard voice calls, but when I go to "Settings - Audio and Video", it simply has a message that says "Video is currently unavailable"
The "Dual-Mode for iPhone" device in CUCM has video calling enabled. What other settings could I be missing?You would want to get this tested in iPhone 4s and above. check this portion of the document;

Problem with VDPAU and 1080p videos
I made a fresh install of Arch on my trusty Thinkpad. It's a T510 with a 3100M gpu from Nvidia.
Hardware decoding worked fine in the past, but after my freshly made install mpv doesn't seem to

It doesn't really matter if it's an 10 or 8 bit video, it always falls back to software decoding, spouts out these error messages and as a result
the video is completely fucked up or just stutters/drops frames like crazy. This only happens with 1080p videos, 720p or below is just fine.

QuickTime Player is not itself able to do this. You need a proper DVD authoring solution such as Apple's iDVD. -

Firstly, apologies if this has been asked on here before – if so, I couldn't find it, and might have been using the wrong search terms.
I'm getting married soon, and rather than hire a videographer to produce something we probably won't like anyway, we thought we'd go down the riskier route of asking friends and family to use their iPhones to record video on the day, and then editing all the results together ourselves.
The major stumbling block we're facing now is that most people's iPhones don't have enough free storage available to be used as video cameras for a day-long event. So I was wondering if there was any safe way to back up each iPhone (we're talking about half a dozen or so), temporarily reset it to clean out the storage, and then restore it later on after extracting the video. The questions I need answered are:
1) Can one Mac, running one instance of iTunes, be used to back up multiple iPhones, some of which are not even synced with that specific Mac?
2) Can I get large amounts of video off those iPhones without syncing and potentially over-writing previous back-ups? Is there a method of extracting video that doesn't involve iTunes (just as you can use Preview in OS X to get photos off the camera roll without opening iTunes, for example)?
3) Once the video has been taken off the phones, is it safe to assume that iTunes will happily restore each phone from its respective back-up?
Thanks very much for your help.Sorry, there is no easy/foolproof way to do what you want. The biggest hurdle is the simple fact that by design, an iPhone will sync or manually manage iTunes content with one computer at a time. So, even if you successfully backed up each iPhone's content on a single computer, & restored such to each phone when finished recording(all possible), the content would then be erased again when these phones were connected to the computers they normally sync with. Are you sure each of these individuals can deal with this? Getting the videos off each phone won't be a problem...the problem is dealing with the other data & the deletion/restore process.

You could have each of these individuals sync their phones on the computers they normally sync with...this will create a current iPhone backup. Then on each phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Record the video, you import to your computer, when they get home they restore from the backups they made. That would work. -

It's odd that Apple's products don't recognize each other.
I can hook up several brands of old crappy camcorders without issue, but I can't use the HD video from my Apple branded device.

When i play 1080p video on my new lg tv from my macbook retina late 2013, it stutters.
When i play videos from my ssd from my macbook pro retina it stutters. Mostly it happens with 1080p videos.
Ive read different discussions about this topic and ive already tried to set my tv in cinema mote. This didnt help.
Also i tried to turn off tru motion, this didnt help as well.
Ive also tried different videoplayers but it didnt make a difference.
When i play it on my internal macbook screen it doenst stutter at all. It only happens on my external lg tv screen with hdmi.
Ive tried different hdmi cables as well but this too didnt make a difference.
Ive also heard about different refresh rates but i doent know how i can adjust this on my lg tv (lg46LM760).
Please help the stuttering is very annoying and there is no quick awnser available anywhere on the web. And since this is a common problem with many people the awnser probably helps a lot of people.Additionally, you can run the Apple Diagnostics test from home, though it would not be as reliable as Apple's in house diagnostics in detecting an issue:

Hey guys I have a Apple ProRes (Proxy) 1080p video sent to me via Firevilla from a friend in the states - which simply says - "will not play - quicktime does not understand the format and may need additional software." All my software updates have been made. Does anyone know if I actually need a specific ad on??!! Or what is going on here!!??
Many ThanksBecause you're using QT 6.5.2 you can't view all QuickTime content. Quite a lot of pages are now using H.264 video and it can't be viewed using 6.5.2.
