IPhone 5/5C LTE YouTube streaming via Safari

What the heck is the issue? My fiancé has the iPhone 5 and I have the 5C. We are both on Sprint LTE. ALL videos that we play on YouTube via Safari will play part ways through, but then the video and audio with cease but the "steaming ticker" will continue. In trying to restart from the beginning, the video will literally play back in FFW motion until the dead spot where once again the video and audio will stop but the ticker is still going. Anyone else with us on this one? It's so strange; and REALLY annoying.

I was having this same problem, i closed out of youtube app and reopened and it stopped malfunctioning

  • Can't watch videos or YouTube videos via safari

For some reason it won't show videos form YouTube and other site with QuickTime videos. When I touch on the video it takes to this page with alot of letters and numbers and I hate it. Can someone help me?

YouTube via Safari is Flash, and the iPhone doesn't support Flash (thus the YouTube app, which accesses content recoded as h.264). But QT videos should play - be sure Settings > Safari > Plug Ins is ON.

  • Is it possible to use airtunes to play music streamed via safari

I have recently set up my Mac so I can play music from iTunes through my stereo in my lounge using Airtunes.
I would like to be able to play music via Airtunes when streaming it over the internet (eg BBC iPlayer or an internet radio station).
Is there a way this can be done?

    Hi,
I'm pretty sure you can't do it with the basic OS X software.
You can do it with some third-party software though:

  • Videoplayback.flv file downloaded from YouTube video via Safari will not play

    Hello All,
Here is my question to you:
Has Safari been altered in such a manner as to NOT allow you to download videos direct from YouTube to your Mac without some intermediary interface?
Here are the steps I would use to download the source .flv video file from a video on YouTube to save it on my MacBook Pro:
    1. Open Safari.
    2. Go to http://www.youtube.com.
    3. Enter name of video to view/download in the search bar and hit 'enter'.
    4. Start video.
    5. While video is playing:
         A) Click on 'Window' in Safari's menu bar at the top of the screen.
         B) Select 'Activity'.
    6. A window will open showing data status of the video.
    7. Locate the largest loading file size and wait until it is finished loading.
    8. Double-click on that file size.
    9. A small 'Downloads' window will appear showing file download status.
    10. Navigate to your 'Downloads' folder and drag the file named 'videoplayback.flv to the desktop.
    11.  Double-click the aforementioned file to start the video in a suitable .flv player (I was using SWF & FLV Player originally).
This process no longer works.  All I get is a black screen when I double-click the downloaded .flv file.
    Notes:
The file size in Step 7 above would vary accordingly to the length of the video, but now every video I try to save as a .flv is approximately 1.7MB no matter how long the video is.  Something isn't right here.
I had originally downloaded and used SWF & FLV Player to view my video when the above process used to work, but now it has upgraded itself to Elmedia Player and wants me to upgrade to the PRO edition to be able to download videos from YouTube.
Any insight to this will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for reading and responding to my question!
    Sincerely,
    - Austin C.

Thank you for your timely response and suggestion, Mr. Davis!
I did exactly as you said, made sure there was NO trace of the Elmedia player anywhere on my machine after the uninstallation procedure, but unfortunately this did not work.
When I dropped the videoplayback.flv file into the VLC player, I get this error message:
There is something deeper going on within Safari, I believe.  The fact that different length videos on YouTube all yield the same 1.7MB file size when I try to download them is puzzling.
    Thoughts?

  • Streaming via Ipod Touch  + Safari

I just went to NPR via my IPT and attempted to listen to Morning Edition
via their stream. Of course neither real player or windoes medi player are
    on the IPT.
Any ideals on how to do this? or is this just a case of Apple loading in a
    Real Player widget someday?

From Safari the only two plug-ins on the Touch are: a built in PDF viewer and QuickTime which can handle: MP4, MP3, etc... but it can not handle RealAudio format or Microsoft WMA format.
So most sites streaming video are using Flash these days and Flash is not supported in Safari. You'll find even if you go to www.youtube.com in Safari it will not work, this is why Apple had to create a separate application to allow YouTube on the device.
Apple is rumored to be working on Flash support via a firmware upgrade in the near future.

  • Can no longer access Facebook via Safari on iPhone

Ever since I loaded IOS 6 onto my iPhone 4, I cannot get to Facebook via Safari...it automatically reverts to the fb app. Even if I put www.facebook.com into the browser. I still access fb via Safari on my ipad (new ipad). This is important as I have low vision and the font is too small on the app.

I have the problem after upgrading my iPad to iOS 6.
It started with the app store, then facebook app and finally can't access to any apple.com page.
Already restore the iPad and now I can access to app store. Still working to get back my access to facebook.
If anyone has an idea about this?

    Might be a Safari extension...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If there are any extensions installed, turn that OFF, then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Download streaming audio via Safari 7

I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere but I can't find an answer. Anyway, once upon a time it was possible to download streaming audio via Safari's "activity" tab in the drop down "Window" menu. I know it's possible to do the same thing via the "Develop" menu but can't figure it out. I am trying to download audio files from a public domain language learning site and could do it easily before the "activity" tab disappeared.

Here is a link to the audio I am trying to download. As you say, this was once simple and I would be happy just having access to the website. But it inexplicably goes down for long periods and in any case, having the sound files makes it more portable.

I understand there is software that can do this but if I can download without it, I'd prefer not to spend the money.

I should say that I am doing this on the iPhone4 and not a laptop.

I believe that there is an app called MxTube that lets you download high quality youtube videos to your iPhone

  • Can't sign in to YouTube account  via YouTube app on iPhone4

I saw a few posts from a year ago - not sure if there are any updates or changes.
I would really like to be able to access my personal YouTube account using the YouTube app on my iPhone4, but everytime I try to sign in, I repeatedly get the same message: "Authentication Failed The username or password you entered is incorrect."
I understand that I linked my YouTube account to my Google account (I was forced to), I've even tried new password, old password, YouTube account name, google account name...nothing works - I get the same thing each time...
I also can't seem to log in to my account via Safari on my iPhone - I followed the instructions on the YouTube help page and went through Safari to try that, but when I try to log in, it tells me, "This account is already linked to a different Google username."...But I've double checked on line, can't figure out what the issue is...help??? Anyone???

Have you contacted Google/YouTube customer or technical support?
    The problem lies there.

  • My iPad/iPhone/AppleTV cannot play Youtube & Netflix

    iOs 7.04

    hi
I also have a Zyxel VMG1312-B10A set up to use VDSL on my ISP's FTTC service. (i'm in the UK)
i swapped this out from a BT Openreach VDSL modem and a Technicolor 582n
weirdly (and i've yet to still work out where the problem is exactly...) my iPad mini running iOS 7.1 (the latest version my ipad can download i think) and i cannot stream anything. Youtube, BBC iPlayer, ITV player all cannot stream. weirdly in the apps i can do all searching for clips fine, but when it comes to playing it i seem to get the spinning icon in the middle then the message "playback error".
i even try streaming youtube via safari and chrome but i get similar problems, the stream doesn't even begin to play.
i cant say for how netflix or other premium streaming services because i don't use them.
my HTC smartphone and blackberry smartphone stream from youtube and iplayer in the web and on my desktop.
i swap back to my openreach/technicolor setup and the ipad is suddenly able to stream fine.
obviously by going back to my previous setup it proves that there is no apparent issue with the ipad, but at the same time with the zyxel installed, it stops the ipad from streaming but other devices don't seem to be affected. it must be some kind of bug specific to this router and my ipad.

  • Problem accessing mail via Safari browser

How do I access iCloud Mail via my Safari browser on my iPhone? If I go to iCloud.com it just offers me the option to install it on my phone.
The problem is, I already have it installed on my phone and it works fine EXCEPT at my new job - the wifi is not very good and I can access internet/Facebook etc but every time I try and load email it always says it 'cannot find the server .' I therefore tried to access email via safari browser - my other email provider works fine that waybut iCloud doesn't even give me the option to login, just keeps suggesting I install it.
Any ideas how I can check iCloud email at work? Can't do it on work computers, site is blocked....and there is no 3G/4G signal.
    Thanks for any advice!

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2618 you should be able to access it via a browser by going to https://www.icloud.com/#mail

  • IPad2 update to iOS6 will no longer play UTube: All my favourites that were previously viewed and saved with my iPad2 will no longer play. They can't be played via Safari either SOLUTION PLEASE (buy iPad3 which solves the issue isn't an option)

IPad2 has been updated to iOS6 and will no longer play UTube favourites. These are favourites that have been previously viewed on iPad2 therefore I know the device is capable of playing them. This upgrade is no longer allowing me to use the device for the reason I bought it.
Apple, I'm feeling as though I've been conned.
My mates iPad3 on iOS6 plays all the stuff my 2 will no longer play.
UTube via safari won't play them, all Apps I've tried have the same problem, a red band stating this video can't be played on your device OR flash player required. Has anyone got a solution???? Please don't write stating you have the same problem, I just want solutions. Thanks

  • Photo Stream (via iCloud) is no longer working on PC -- w/o system changes

Photo Stream (via iCloud) worked great on my Windows PC a week ago.  Suddenly it's stopped entirely.  When I attempt to open it, I get an error message that says that "Photo Stream is not enabled" and that I should go to the iCloud Control Panel.  When I go to the Control Panel to initiate the change, I can put a check mark in the box to activate it, but it will not retain the change when I hit apply/save.  It also disables Windows Explorer when I do this.
I don't believe this is an IOS6 issue since it was working fine for a period of time after I put IOS6 on both my iPhone and iPad devices.  I've also not made any changes to the Windows laptop involved.
Is anyone else having this problem.  Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

After upgrading to iOS 8.1, upgrading to the latest iTunes and re-installing iCloud for Windows, Photo Stream is working again!

  • Is it possible to play youtube video in safari browser on WiFi in iOS devices ?

    Hello Support,
I have a query regarding playing you tube videos in iOS devices (like iphone, ipad). I can able to play youtube videos in safari browser in iphone on 3G data connection but can not play the same video on WiFi. I am facing the same issue in the youtube iOS application also. Is it possible to play youtube video on WiFi in iOS devices ? Please help me to fix this issue.
    Thanks

My understanding is that you should definitely be able to play youtube videos using a Wi-Fi network. To me, it sounds as though the issue may be more network related as the videos will work over cellular data. I have a couple questions I believe could help narrow down the exact issue:
    • Is the device able to browse to other websites while connected to Wi-Fi, or will no sites work?
    • Are there other devices (iPads, iPhones, computers, etc) that work on the same Wi-Fi network?
These are some troubleshooting articles that come to mind as well:
