IPhone 5 7.1.2 no option for deleted folder on server

I have my iPhone 5 and iPad Air identically set up for Mail options but for some reason there is no option on the iPhone for checking "Deleted Messages" under "Deleted Mailbox" option to be the folder on the server.  This option is check and exists on the iPad.
Any ideas why it is not even available on an iPhone?  Why would it be different?  Right now on the iPhone it only allows the Deleted Message Folder "On the iPhone."
Thanks in advance.

SMTP server settings are for outgoing mail, and have no effect on received mail.  You should set up iCloud accounts using the built in iOS template.

Pros/cons of each?  I’m looking there SIMPLEST solution so long as also SECURE.

    Hi,
With Azure web sites, you don't have to manage Virtual Machines, network load balancers, or deployment infrastructure yourself. All of these capabilities are built in and provided by the Azure Websites service.
It depends on you. Personally, the easiest way would be creating an Azure Web site and using a SQL Azure database associated with the site.
If you want to use a SQL VM as a database server, I recommend you to create it in a virtual network as it is supported for integration between your Azure virtual network and the Azure Websites:

  • IPhone 5 Pre-order but no option for AppleCare?

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, sorry if I'm wrong!
I've pre-ordered my iPhone 5 from my carrier (Orange UK) but there was no option for AppleCare. Am I able to purchase this from the Apple Store once it has arrived?
    Thanks, Ben

Yes, once you get the phone take it to an Apple Retail Store or call AppleCare in your country for your options.

    hi,
is there an option in mail that would enable me to delete messages from my server when i delete them from my mail client but keeps the messages i did not delete on my server?
i know there is an option to delete messages after they've been downloaded, but that's not what i want.

    Hi,
I would like for this very thing to happen ...moving mail from my inbox deletes it from the server. However, I've checked that option in the prefs, but it doesn't work.
I can delete mail [from server] when retrieving it "right away", and I can "remove now", but the "when moved from inbox" options does nothing.
Any suggestions on how to get this to work?
PS: I've heard about the cool features of Mail 2.0, but keep in mind that I'm using Panther (w/Mail 1.3.11)

  • On A Budget - Options for Using a File Server.

Hi - I have this relatively old 2008R2 file server (8GB memory and 25TB disk) I'd like to use as file storage for a SQL Server VM.  The network is a 1GB switched configuration.  The VM resides on relatively new hardware (Server 2012, SAS) but doesn't
have a lot of disk.  I'd like to make a bunch of the file server space available for SQL Server Data (2008R2) - its a small network (10 users) that we want to load a bunch of glob data indexed by a few keywords as reference.  Kind of like a
GIS database.  My first thought is to create fixed vhdx file on the file server via Hyper-V manager, but this takes days to initialize for the size I'm thinking of (10TB).  I created an expanding disk and it was pretty quick to create.  I copied
a 4GB file over the net to the mounted (from the Hyper-V Host) vhdx file and it went pretty fast.  I thought about using the iSCSI trick to attach it to the SQL VM (turning the file server into a SAN sort of?), but I'm wondering if this is overkill.
I'm just looking for a few suggestions.  There is a lot of stuff out there, some of it conflicting, about storage configuration.
    Thanks

    Yes, upgrading....
I need to emphasize the budget thing.  I will look into the iSCSI option.  The VM is Server 2012.
We might be able to convert the 2008 server to Windows 8.  It doesn't really do anything besides file shares and security is not a concern as we are not connected.  Is that an option?  Win8 supports SMB 3 I understand.
Yes you can do that. But... Older desktop versions of Windows were limited on amount of TCP connections they could handle obviously affecting usability and performance as a server. Not sure what's accurate for Windows 8 as MSFT has been changing this policy
back and forth all the time )) Check within MSFT licensing specialists before you do that.
P.S. I'd spawn FreeBSD or openSUSE with a Samba instead of a desktop version of Windows OS being used as a file server. IMHO.

  • "Ignore Faces" option for album/folder?

It would be nice, REALLY NICE, to be able to select a preference/option for an album or folder to ignore faces for all pictures imported there or contained in it. This way when I add photography of statues, I don't need to constantly and repeatedly tell Aperture that the sculpture is not a face. Any idea if this is possible, and I just overlooked it? Thanks.

If you have tons I suggest naming the Face "Xavier", on the grounds that you have no other Faces that start with "x".  Then you can simply type "x" and let Aperture autofill the name.  "x", "{tab}", and so on.  It goes quickly.

  • ICal for iPhone-Why is there no custom option for repeating events?

I really hate the application iCal on the iPhone, because it won't allow me to enter in an event that happens on the fourth thursday of the month.
Palm has allowed users to make monthly reapeats by day and by date for ten years now. Why can't iCal do the same? I shouldn't have to use my Desktop iCal to enter in repeating custom events!

  • Option for deleting non-necessary files

When I began developing my first RoboHelp project, I added
some HTML and PDF files which I don't need anymore. I would like to
know if there is an option within RoboHelp 7 which could
automatically find these files and allow me to delete them.
    Thank you for your help.
    Bob.

Arrgh! It's the words "automatically" and
"delete" in the same sentence that scares me.
I doubt this is what you mean though. If you run the
Unused File report it will list all the files that are in the
directory but which are no longer needed by the project. You have
to do the deleting though within the Windows directory.

  • Delete all option for deleted programmes

Hi,  Does anybody know if there's a way to "delete all" from the deleted programme's menu?It would be far easier than having to delete every programme individually from the last 18 months (2tb box)Thanks

Hi, Just came across your post here, I've only just encountered the very same thing. Seemed a good idea at first to have a backup of deleted programs, but yes, you are so right, trying to free up space or, as in my case, following the recommendation from Sky to permanently remove all deleted content in an effort to rectify a glitchy planner, yeah right! This will take an age!The only current way around this, and it is only to be used as a last measure, is to perform a complete system re-set! But remember, doing so will delete EVERYTHING and basically you end up with the box as it was from new! Then you simply start again with setting your reminders and favourites etc.  If anyone goes down this route, just try and get in the habit of EVERYTIME you delete something, go straight into the deleted tab on your box and permanently delete it from there, now you will never end up with such a list to have to delete individually again!I know that this is an extreme measure to take to accomplish what should be much quicker, but until Sky release an update to the Sky options that would enable a multi delete option, this is about as good as it gets, otherwise be prepared for a very long spell of sitting there button pushing. All the best.

  • Seperate view options for each folder? ie Apps, Downloads, Movies etc

Hey Mac community. I'm an experienced mac user, have been all my life, but I have a question I am hoping one of you can answer. I like to use column view in the Finder and I want to sort the Applications folder by Name and the Downloads folder by Date Created. Even with the appropriate folder selected, using View Options to change the sorting criteria affects every folder. Is there a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hey Michael,
I'm also a long time Mac user, way back before OSX. I responded to another thread a day or so ago on a similar subject. It's kind of a long post, but you might find it interesting/helpful. Basically, how an old Mac user approaches the 10.5 Finder (which I've grown to really like, btw).
    Here's the thread link...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1766829&tstart=60
Here's the post I put up there...
    "Re: Global Finder Window Problems..."
This is actually the default viewing system in 10.5. I little weird at first, but read on for my take on why I think 10.5 is much nicer than 10.4 and preceding OXSs.
I started using Macs in the pre-OSX days, so was used to the completely dependable and always predictable "spatial" Finder of OS9 and down. Spatial meaning, folders all opening in new windows with every window position, view setting, icon position, even scroll bar (if there is one) remembered without exception. Also, no browser mode at all.
So I tried to recreate the old OS9 default folder view in 10.4... First, create a desktop folder, set to icon view, turn off Toolbar/Sidbar, which causes nested folders to open in their own new window. Great! Now all folders within created within that folder adopt that view, right? They do, but not if you drag one to the desktop, at that point the Toolbar/Sidebar magically reappears. It also reappears if you navigate to the same folder via Dock's cascading menu system (assuming you've placed a hard drive or folder there). Another 10.4 oddity...if you have Finder set to open at the top level "Computer" when activated from it's Dock icon, it would never remember icon size and position. Sometimes even forgetting window size/position (at least my install of 10.4 did this). On and on....life with the forgetful, stubborn OSX Finder.
However, 10.5 is fantastic at remembering folder view settings. Only thing is, that's not turned on by default. Instead, the default behavior is for folders to adopt the previous folder view setting. This is actually not a bad thing if you prefer to use the browser style navigation the Finder offers. You alter a view setting, list view for example, browse a while, then change it to icon, continue browsing, etc, etc... Thats 10.5's default behavior. To make a specific folder remember a view state, all you have to do is set the view you want, open the Show View Options and check the Always Open In... check box. Now, it will very dependably remember it's view state.
Personally, I've always had my own ideas about how the Finder should behave, and have suggested them to Apple. I've always thought there should be a separate Finder/Browser app that boots up from the Dock Finder icon. It always opens with the Toolbar/Sidebar on (ie: all folders are navigated to via a single browser window). You set it to some browser friendly view (ie: list, column), and it retains that view state as you browse no matter what view settings you may have set for an individual folder. That's the Finder/Browser. To see unique pre-folder view settings, you open the hard drive icon from the Desktop. It opens with the Toolbar/Sidebar off (ie: all folders open in new windows). You could consider this to not even being the "Finder application". Just think of it as "manually looking at the contents of the hard drive". As you drill down, opening new windows, you can create view states which are always remembered when opened via double click the hard drive from the Desktop.
I attempted to created this behavior in 10.4, but the Finder was just forgetful enough, and stubborn enough, not to cooperate fully (see explanations above). However, in 10.5 it works beautifully. I first set the Finder Preferences to open "Computer", opened the Finder via the Dock icon and set it to Column view. From re-boot to re-boot, this set up is remembered exactly, even the window size and position. This is great for browser navigation.
For "manually exploring" (or as some referred to as "spatial"), you must first tell every window on your hard drive to "Always Open In...." whatever you want you default state to be (other wise it will just open in the state in whatever the most resent folder was opened in). I created a script for this with the settings as...Toolbar/Sidebar off & icon view. I then ran the script on the entire drive, and all sub-folders. Over time, I've changed the settings of folders I want to open differently (mainly list as apposed to icon), making sure I open the View Options and rechecking "Always open in..." to whatever adjustment I made. My drive is in great order now and remembers every view detail. Any windows I don't mess with default to a completely predictable "Icon View".
So 10.5 gives me the best of both worlds. Very reliable spatial (ie: old fashion manually opening window after window....handy for dragging files around the hard drive), and super streamlined browsing...good for navigating to and opening files quickly.
My 3 cents...sorry for the long post.

  • Where did the option for Delete or Archive go?

    I have iPhone4, iOS 4.0.2
For my Gmail Exchange Push account, the on/off switch for "Archive Messages" is gone. This is what the switch looks like:
    http://www.gilsmethod.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/deletegmailmessagesinios44. png
I have already deleted and re-added my Gmail Exchange account, and power cycled my phone. Nothing worked.

With Gmail Exchange Push and the latest OS?
The Archive option appears with SMTP for me, but I want Exchange Push.

  • Best security options for 2106 controller on Server 2000 RADIUS?

First, a thank you to all that stop to offer advice.  I am getting my feet soaked learning how to deploy an enterprise level wireless solution.  I have seen one work in the past, so I was trying to mimic the configuration I was familiar with.  The only drawback is I am working off a Server 2000 DC and the PEAP authentication is not available to me (at least from what I have read).  I believe this points me to EAP-TLS, but having never deployed something like this, I am at the mercy of searching for advice.  I am working with our firewall person and we have already created VLANs for the 2 SSIDs I want to use.  I have the guest user SSID all figured out.  I have them on a web authorization with a nice custom splash page and all that.  The ACLs are all locked down so no access is allowed back in to our network.  The second SSID is for our AD users and this is the one I am having an issue with.  I'll set the stage:
We are in a mixed domain environment.  That is to say that we are not only using 3 domains, but each domain is at a different level (our location is Server 2000, mail Server 2003, and corporate is 2008).  Our present configuration for local users is WPA-Personal using home type routers and a shared password.  We obviously want to improve on this, so with the new WLC I wanted to go WPA2-Enterprise, AES, and PEAP.  Since PEAP is out due to the domain resrtrictions, I figured EAP-TLS was the next best solution.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but is there a method that could be used where users from the corporate domain could also authenticate?  I see I can put in up to 3 RADIUS server entries, so if I were to configure a RADIUS on the corporate DC, can I also authenticate to it?  I have to assume that the protocol needs to remain the same or does the WLC not care so long as it authenticates to the RADIUS server (can I use PEAP on the 2008 and EAP-TLS on the 2000)?   I am also going to have to make our DC a CA so I can create the certificates.  I know that once it's rooted there can be a lot of cert issues in the future if something happens to it.  Any advice on that?
On the other end, I understand that for EAP-TLS to work I will need to get the cert on both the client system and the server.  I plan on using GP to place the cert on the approved devices (basically the Notebook group in our AD).  I am also going to create a Wireless Auth group for users and then authenticate the RADIUS against that (second layer of user security).  This was the practice I was used to at my previous employer.
Sorry if there were too many questions in there, but I have been mulling over this quite some time. Thank you to all.

With EAP-TLS you need a per-device/user certificate.  So you would want to have your own CA to request the certificate from.  All the users would need to have the root CA in their trust, pushable via GPO.
with the three domains, is there a federation or bi-directional trust between them?
If so, you should be able to still use PEAP, so long as the AD you hit for the username/password can reach across the boundary and validate them.

  • Itunes says i must enter passcode on iphone but iphone only gives option for emergency calls

My sim card is inserted and when I turn the iphone on it only gives the option for emergncy calls, when i connect to itunes it says the phone is locked and i need to enter the passcode on the phone but i cannot enter pass cose on phone as it doesnt give me the option.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

You're gonna have to force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn your phone off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

  • Change view options for only one window

Usually I prefer to view my windows as icons, but I like certain specific windows to show up in list mode. On 10.4, in the View Options, there was an option for "This window only" but that seems to be missing in 10.5. Am I just blind???

I agree. i enjoyed that feature in 10.4. It drives me nuts that if I want to change the view options for one folder because of the way I want to view its specific contents, the rest of folders on my system changes at the same time. I would appreciate it if each folder had a "memory" of its own view option settings.
However, I acknowledge that sometimes you would want to change a setting that affect all windows. But it shouldn't overwrite the remainder of the settings. If, for example, you wanted to change the text size of every icon in every window, but leave everything else as set in each individual folder, there should be an option for this!
