Iphone 5 and LTE ?

Why does my Iphone connect to LTE then it back to 3G...i do have the 4G LTE sim card in my iphone from Bell...would this be the carrier problem or the iphone problem? It happens when i turn my iphone on...it's on LTE...then a few moments later it switches back to 3G!

if the signal str of 3g was low enough it would shift to Edge (ohh the horror)

Our CEO has an iPhone and an iPad. Everytime he is at the Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI) he is unable to send or recieve email over 4G or wifi. Everything else seems to work just fine over wifi or 4G LTE. Has anyone ever seen anything similar? is this malware?
Both devices are on Verizons 4G LTE network. Both devices do have some of the same APPS installed. Can this be a case of him connecting to a rogue wifi network of a hacker that may have installed malicious code on his devices when he connected? That would explain why only his devices have the same exact issue only at BWI airport.

Something similar I've experienced. I was once having to use a AT&T hotspot and the iPad simply refused to access my mail via the mail app. But if I used safari I could get it.  So the internet was working, but my supposition is that something with the hotspot's firewall messes with mail exchange.
next time your boss is at BWI, do you guys have a web interface? (for example if I wanted to access my work mail I could get them to set it up via the mail app and exchange, or I could go to a certain web address and access my mail that way via safari)
He could try using safari and the web interface if you have it.
If it's something in the hotspot's firewall I doubt it's anything that can be changed.

  • IPhone 5 LTE full service but no internet in ONE spot

    Hello,
I live in San Francisco, have an iPhone 5 and LTE service and I get great coverage all over the city: at home, at work, which in in a basement of a huge concrete building, and lots of other place. However, there is this one area of the city that happens to be a residential garage on 23rd at San Jose, where I work on motorcycles that I can absolutely NOT get any data service. It will SAY I have service, "LTE" three or four bars, same "service" reading as I get in all the other spots where I get connectivity, but in this one 100 foot radius, no service at ALL. It doesn't make any sense. If it would just say "No Service" ok maybe there's an enviornmental factor here, but it SAYS I have service, yet there is just no connectivity.
Can anyone advise if there is anything I can do or at least give me an idea of what is going wrong?
    Thank you.

  • IOS7 wifi and LTE speed very slow.

iOS7 wifi and LTE speed very slow compared to iOS6.  This was proven with Safari and using speed test app.

I have exactly the same problem symptom ever since installing iOS7. Toggling the FaceTime or the LTE settings alleviated the problem until I installed the latest version on IOS (7.0.4- 11B554a). Now the bug is permanent, a Network Reset will not work anymore, a System Reset will work only for the first execution of Speedtest.
Looks like the network software is throttling LTE speed to the minimum (.50 Mbps) up/download speed no matter what. Now unlimited Data means nothing, maybe AT&T wants me to go to Verizon or Tmobile.
I reported this problem to AT&T Sept 26 when I first installed IOS7, they told me there was no problem really that I needed to wait for the LTE network congestion to go away...? Since I found a circumvention by toggling LTE I did not pursued the problem...
After reporting the problem again this morning, they sent me to the AT&T store to change the SIM card.... I will try this and report back if it fixes the problem... Although I doubt it will fix anything but burn and extra hour of my day. The AT&T rep said that if the new SIM card doesn't fix the problem I need to go to Apple for them to give me a new Iphone....???? I guess there are many iPhones gone bad after installing IOS7 (sarcasm).
If you have this same problem, please post here so that I am able to get back to AT&T with some leverage to get them to remove the choking of LTE. Basically, if everyone accepts the new low speeds, then, unlimited data is no longer a problem for this phone company.

  • IPhone 5 LTE problem

Hello, guys i got an iPone 5 just recently and my iPhone's LTE keeps cutting in and out like it will stay on if imam standing still but when I move and stuff like that it just goes to 3G. • IPhone 5: LTE dropping bars

Just received the iPhone 5.  When switched on, it shows 5 bars and LTE.  Over the following 30 seconds, it slowly drops down to one bar.  When I make or receive a call, it jumps to 5 bars again.  However, when I disconnect, it slowly drops back to one bar (dropping one bar at a time every few seconds).  Any ideas?

@dpny - Have you tried powering your phone off and removing the sim card for about 30 seconds to see if the phone maintains it signal better?
Everyone, let us know if your signal has stabilized or if this helps you as well.
Thank you everyone, and take care!

  • FIXED: iPhone 5 LTE Delay/Lag

Verizon does listen to us! Earlier this morning, people in the Southeast region have been reporting success with their iPhone's no longer experiencing 10-15 second delays. After turning on LTE on my iPhone and letting it sit for a while to load a webpage, I can confirm from San Antonio, TX that LTE is working fine and dandy now!
People on this thread over at MacRumors are also reporting success. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1449770&page=9
Thanks so much Verizon for getting this issue fixed promptly with your network. You guys are definitely #1.

iPhone 5 with verizon in Panama City Beach, Fl. Having the same issue. It seems like my phone is trying to catch a connection or something. Whether Siri is trying to do a task or using safari it seems to lag. But when it finally gets a connection it's lightening fast. I have full bars and LTE is on but it seems that sometimes it has to "warm up" I love my phone but hate the connection. Hoping this is fixed soon. I have reset a thousand times. No solution. • Iphone 5  LTE (4G) isNow working in Sri Lanka

    Apple
iphone 5  LTE (4G) is NOW working in Sri Lanka

There are no supported carriers at all in Sri Lanka, much less carriers that support LTE on the iPhone there.
You can't overcome this until your carrier has their LTE network tested and certified as compatilbe by Apple and a carrier update is issued to support it.

  • I updated my 4S iphone and now I am getting all the texts from another iPhone on my plan.  How do I stop this?

I updated my 4S iPhone and now I am getting all the texts from another iPhone on my plan.  What do I need to do?

I'm not completely clear on the GSM / LTE network frequencies in US vs Argentina, but I do know that cross-compatibility can be an issue when buying from one country and using in another. Apple products in particular have this problem. What this sounds like to me is that the phone is not compatible with Argentinian networks; or your friend had an AT&T phone and jail-broke it. This is against the end user licensing agreement, and when the phone is next updated is likely to jam the phone.
Sorry but you lost your money.

  • Verizon iPhone 5 LTE Delay/Lag - So Cal

I see that this issue was discussed in late 2012, though seems it was only affecting some in the Southeast US. Since I've owned the iPhone 5 (2 months now),  I've noticed a significant delay connecting to the LTE network after unlocking the phone. We have a pretty solid LTE network here in central California, so I have a feeling it may be a hardware issue. Here's what's happening: If I unlock the phone after 20 minutes of no use, access Safari, Facebook, Instagram etc. and there seems to be no network connection. It keeps trying for about 1 minute, until it suddenly connects and loads as would be expected. From that point on webpages load just as LTE should. If I lock the phone and unlock it within 5-10 minutes, no issues. 15-20 minutes locked and I get the delay again.
I've talked to Verizon support, who I must say was surprisingly helpful and seemed to be interested in my problem. The rep spent 20 minutes with me researching the issue online to see if they had a solution, to no avail. He called back 3 hours later, after I had a chance to troubleshoot some more. I had more specifics about timing, though they seemed stumped. They said that sometimes cities near the ocean have issue because LTE signals are disrupted by the swells (odd).
Anybody else noticing delays in the central or southern CA area?

    GuitarDTO,
I was so happy when I found your thread on MacRumors because I thought it was just me! I am also glad that I am not in this alone! Especially because when I tried googling the problem, none of the reviewers mentioned it in their reviews.  I do hope posting in multiple places (here, Verizon forums, and MacRumors) that this gets visibility quick.
I think this is a software bug that can be fixed but it is tied to a hardware issue. Since Apple elected to use a single radio, single chip design for LTE, it cannot run CDMA and LTE at the same time (reason why we can't talk and surf at the same time, still).  Android phones implement two chips, or two radios to overcome this.  Apple chose not to do this for design purposes.  However, my suspicion is that the software is choosing to "listen" to the CDMA network while idle (for calls, texts) and then only fire up LTE when a data request is initiated.  This wasn't a problem for 3G because it was still CDMA techology.  This may also be the reason that AT&T users may not be facing this.
I really hope this issue gets resolved and I hope Verizon employees have raised this issue with Apple.  We'll see how it goes!

  • IPhone 5 LTE Delay/Lag

    Hello All-
I am having an issue with my new Verizon iPhone 5.  I have very good LTE coverage in the Orlando area.  However, I am noticing that there is a lag, or delay when trying to access the data connection after coming out of standby (and other times of data inactivity as well).
Some examples (from another user on MacRumors forums):
    1. Using Siri from the Lock screen, it will take about 10-15 seconds to respond, then once it does respond, it will handle anything you throw at it until you lock the phone and let it sit for a few minutes again.
    2. After unlocking, and trying to open any websites from Safari. Same thing, about a 10 second pause while it attempts to turn on the LTE radio, then boom, it works blazingly fast and again handles anything you throw at it.
    3. Sending a text message. Same thing, right after you bring the phone out of standby from sitting for a few minutes, it will hesitate when sending the first message like it's trying to connect to the network, and then once it does, you can then send stuff with no delay.
It's really bad. I can't even properly stream music from iHeartRadio without it constantly cutting out, pushed mail is delayed, and iMessage is working crappy. It's like the LTE chip keeps turning off and then you have to wait for it to kick back in.  Once it works, the speed is fine, but it keeps turning off! I have reset network settings, rebooted, etc.
Any other Verizon users experiencing this? What about AT&T users? Should I take it to the Apple store and have it swapped out?

  • IPhone 5 & LTE

Hopefully the next iPhone has LTE. With the Droid army marching pretty much in lock step with LTE, the iPhone 5 needs to be on equal footing. I have an iPhone 4 and I am looking forward to the 5, but I wait to buy if the LTE is left out.

Rumors are starting to point to it having LTE, here's a link to some of it

  • I have 3G (missing 4G) and LTE

Actually hspa is still 3g att and tmobile just market it as 4g.
HSPA is a 3rd Generation (3G) technology based on UMTS standards offering faster data download speeds at the cost of upload speeds. The HSPA family of technologies is quite large, covering High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), and Evolved High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+)

Trying to get to the bottom of this as Straight Talk and At&t are on two different wavelengths about how provisioning should work. ST says everything is correct on their end, but I have my doubts.
I have an At&t unlocked iPhone 5S and I only get 3G and LTE service of the At&t side of ST. I've even spelled it out as such:3G(UTMS)4G(HSPA+)LTE (fastest most awesome network ever) I've been hammering on them for a year and haven't had much progress. The current way they've set it up is 4G or LTE and they can't quite grasp the concept of 4G and LTE. According to field test mode, it shows UTMS which is the standard for 3G.The speedtest confirms it at 6mbps. When I put my SIM in an H+ Android, things got interesting and I got 25mbps on the speed test. With LTE my iPhone will average 15mbps and much better battery life. Who do I need to talk to get this fixed?
