IPhone 5- antenna scratches?

Ok right out of the box my antenna has scratches on it. not throwing a fit or anything but i am just puzzled as to why apple engineers would use a metal material that scratches so easily that they cant even ship it to me without more than one scratch on it.
also the metal seems to be buffed which almost wipes right off. my phone has what looked like a smudge on the metal... i am wiping it off and it almost feels as if the buffing will wipe off with the smudge.
i really dont get it apple. the entire back of the phone is made out of this metal which scratches super easy. i dont even want to use my phone until the rubber case comes so that way at least i can sell this for a fair price when i want to get the new one.

I was looking at it again under a light in my closet and was able to rub the scratches off!!!!!!
it looks great now there isnt a scratch on it. i will keep an eye but hopefully this metal is more resiliant than the one on the iPhone 4.

Does iPhone 4 have scratch Proof screen?

I want to know if the iPhone has a scratch proof screen, As I dont want a screen Protector on mine. Will the screen get scratched? I've been using my iPod touch 4g for a year, and it never gets scratched!

If our iTouch didn't get scratched then you are lucky and have good habits for it's care, it's likely your iPhone will never get scratched.
The iPhone has aluminosilicate glass while the iTouch doesn't seem to AFAIK. My iPad which is presumably the same glass as the iPhone is visibly scratch free.
We bought my Daughter an iTouch 4th gen for Xmas and within a week it had a quarter inch scratch on the screen and she had a hard shell back cover on it but no screen protector...

IPhone 4- antenna issues past 9/30?

I would like to purchase the new iPhone 4 but am concerned about antenna issues since Apple has stopped giving out the free cases. Has Apple fixed the issues with the antenna, or will I have to purchase a case on my own, and hope there aren't any more problems? I currently have a 3G and haven't had too much of a problem with the antenna or reception.

My iPhone has a scratch...

My precious $600 iPhone has a scratch on the aluminum on the back. It isn't too noticiable, but it is dead center. It was caused by me wrapping the earbuds around it and putting it my pocket. Is there any way to remove a scratch from aluminum? I can't feel it when I run my finger nail across it.

I'm pretty sure it's plastic - sounds like plastic when tapped.

Iphone 4s screen scratching easily

i had my iphone 4s for only a few days and the screen is already scratched in multiple spots.. is anyone else having this issue? My family members have had theirs in pockets purses for over a year without any scratches.. I didn't keep my keys in the same pocket and somehow managed to scratch it... is the iphone 4s screen more susceptible to scratches? is this something i can bring up under warranty? or just considered wear and tear.

We took the iphone in and we were told that if it’s cosmetic damage it isn’ttheir problem regardless of the circumstances and if we wanted the glass replaced it would be their standard replacement charge (I think this was around£140). When we argued that the screen coating could be at fault and asked if they had seen this before the genius said that it wasn’t possible for the glass to be faulty. We then asked if this means that the failure rate on the glass, and the phone, was 0% and he just repeated that it wasn’t possible for it to be faulty.
We also reported that the length of time the battery lasted was much lower than the old phone and he said it was because there were apps running in the background and that was the only cause that it could possibly have. He then wenton to give us a lecture, which lasted at least 5 minutes, as to how a battery, like anything electronic, is like a car engine and takes a long time to get up to full power. This was only a few days before the admission that there was a battery life issue because of the software bug.
There were also an issue with the sim where the phone would come up with "Sim Failure" every hour or so and the phone would require a reset. Whilst this was displayed the phone couldn’t receive any calls or texts until it was reset. The genius said that the only cause for this would be a faulty sim and that there was no way the phone was at fault and to contact the network because it wasn’t apples problem.
After trying a new sim, the problem got worse and apple did replace the phone but only after they were told that the network wanted it to be replaced.So my other half has a completely new iphone (with no scratches so far!) but only after getting the backing of the network with a major fault. Safe to say we were not impressed with either the customer service or the patronising nature of the genius.

Scratch on iphone 4 antenna gate

hi everyone,
this is my second time posting a topic here. what i want to ask u all is, if there is a scratch on the antenna gate, will it effect the performance of the phone? like the signal or the wifi? i have one small scratch near the sim card slot though.. Please help me here. will really appreciate it. thanks.

i really like the way u answer. really. lol. the reason that i think it will affect the reception is because, the metal band work as antenna for the phone, wifi, bluetooth. and, its outside the phone. left unprotected. i just imagine if the band is damaged, the phone reception will be messed up. i remember in high school, my chemistry teacher ever told me that if there's a scracth in a metal, and there is a liquid drop into it. the metal will rust. just scared, somebody with wet hands touch my phone and the thing will get rusty. LOL. thats what i think. now, u tell me why the reason it wont affect the reception. anyway,thanks for replying allan.. really appreciate it

hi i know people are going to say how can plastic scratch metal but before i put bumper on i clean it wit iphone cleaning cloth and clean iphone antenna but it still scratches i rang apple and they said they would give me a new bumper however these scratches have significantly de-vauled my iphone 4. what are my option and could i get a new phone also would cleaning iphone antenna with alcoholic swab damage the antenna

The rubber bumper cannot scratch the iPhone. However, the bumper does not make a hermetic seal with the iPhone, and dirt/dust/crud can get between the iPhone surface and the bumper...and that can scratch the iPhone. The proper iPhone technique is included in the User's Guide, and that's available online. I would not expect that alcohol would damage the antenna, however, it is likely that alcohol would deteriorate the oleophobic coating on the iPhone screen.

Having a hard time to finding solution to this question. I'm finding that there are antenna adapters for the iphone. However, I'm having a hard time finding articles, pictures, or video on how to use them.
So can any one help me out?
My goal is to increase my iphone 3g cell phone signal. I have some plans on how to do it. I'm not willing to purchase and booster or cell repeater; they usually cost $200 dollars, or more. And I'm not willing to buy a cheaper repeater on ebay or some biding site....

Iphone 4 case scratch...

Hey guys I have been hearing stories from people that iphone 4 cases leave scratches on the exterior of the phone. I am thinking of buying a case because this would protect my phone in case I drop it. However, I am faced with this dilemma of whether I should because I dont wana scratch the phone either. What do you guys think about this? Do you guys have any suggestions on which case to get (like the rubber ones or the hard plastic ones) in order to prevent scratching?
