IPhone 5 apps dont connect to net but browsing works
When I bought my iPhone 5 everything was working fine. Now there's a strange problem (when using 3G) where I can browse the net "google stuff" and open sites, however, App Store, Facebook app, twitter app and many other apps wont connect to the net. Other apps like instagram connect. Some apps like Whatsapp, I can send messages through however I cannot recieve nor send pictures (it just fails to send). HOWEVER, when I use WiFI all apps and net work normally with no problems. The only problem is when not using WiFi.
I removed my SimCard and inserted it into another iPhone 5 and surprisingly everything worked fine. I instered another SimCard into my iPhone but the same problem remained. Ive visited my Carrier several times, all the settings are correct and they claim no problem from their side.
Im using it in Dubai, it was always fine, however I recently came back from the US which is when the problem began. When I was in the US eveverything was fine too, was using (AT&T). Does anyone have an idea what should I do?? I even tried updating to the latest iOS but that didnt do anything either.
First charging,
The USB ports on many computers do not provide enough power for charging a device. The Not Charging message is pretty common. It is recommended to charge your device using the charger that came with it plugged into a known good wall outlet.
Second connecting to iTunes.
You don't mention which version of iTunes you have. The iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 or later. If you do not have these latest versions of iTunes download and install iTunes 11.0.1 which is the latest version.

So my gmail address list or contacts seems to have been hacked and all my contacts who are still talking to me have told me so.
So I changed my gmail password.
No more complaints, and probably no more friends as contacts.
But seriously, I have been able to get gmail (web) working with my new double authentication password(s). Also, my outlook for MAC is working using the special "generated App Password". (because Outlook cannot do the double authentication thingie)
Ditto for the gmail app from google on my iPhone. (it works too)
BUT
I cannot get the iPhone Mail App to connect to Gmail.
I have deleted (i thought) my existing gmail setup from my iPhone. When I try to re establish the gmail settings, using either the password generated by the MAC / iCloud keychain generator or the App password, I get the message "My Name" is already added.
It looks to me that there is something in the iPhone that matches my gmail address, even though I deleted the account.
Any suggestions before I call Apple for help?

Actually I think I need to get the App Password for Mail on my phone. It generates the app password and I enter it into the password in the gmail setup for mail.
The problem is that when I hit next on that page, I get the message:
"my name" is already added" and I cannot proceed.
Before doing this setup I deleted my gmail account by tapping the email address and hitting delete in the Mail, Contact and Calendars setup..
but, there is something hiding in my iPhone that remembers my old gmail password (I guess) and doesn't let me proceed.
If I enter my gmail iChain password I get the same thing.
If i do this in airplane mode (no connection to google) i also get the same.
I talked to an apple care person who had me reset all my settings... still the same thing.
I am trying to avoid a gull reset of the iPhone, but that may be in the cards.
Going to go to the apple store and ask there, but i am not hopeful.

My iPod is up to a 4.1 ios, and it won't update to a 5.1 which I need for some of my apps for school. It keeps saying that my internet connection is bad; but, it works just fine. What do I need to do?
If you get a network timeout error, then disabling the computer's security software duirng the download and update usually resovles that error.
If that is not the error what is the wording of the error message.
Note that only a 3G or 4G iPod can go to iOS 5. A 2G iPod can only go to iOS 4.2.1 -
After putting my iPad onto airplane mode it won't let me access apps without connecting to iTunes but it won't let me connect to iTunes how can I resolve this?

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

I have exactly the same with my iPad. All i have now is the connect to iTunes picture. I have run the diagnostics in itunes (under help menu) and it says that neither my phone or iPad are connectted yet they physically are. I have gone into device manager and it says there is a software connection problem. I am trying another pc to connect my pad. Update - connected ipad to my netbook with latest itunes version and it is carrying out the update. that means this laptop has a software comms problem with USB.

Airport Express - green light, no connection to net, but Windows cabled OK
Hi all,
For 2 days I've been having a strange problem:
Suddenly I don't get a valid internet connection through my airport express (AX), although the whole setup has worked for 3 years.
I am connected that way: a DSL modem from my network provider is connected via ethernet cord to the AX. This opens a WPA2-encrypted network via PPPoE, and uses a MAC-Address filter.
So far, I have settled it down that way:
When working under Mac OS X (latest updates for Leopard are installed, the last one was a pure application update for notes, pages and keynote 2 days ago), I don't get a valid connection: Via AirPort it cannot find the PPPoE host, although the green light is solid visible. Via Ethernet-Cable I also don't get access to the PPPoE host.
Here comes the strange thing: When working under boot-camped Windows XP, setting up a network connection via Ethernet cord, it works! Obviously, when trying to connect wireless to the AX, a connection could be established, but there is no traffic possible.
Any suggestions or hel would be very much appreciated !
Could it be, that the last application updates for iWork had these effects? Would be too strange to believe..

I just had a similar thing happen to me where airport has been running fine for about a year and suddenly my iMac can't find the network although other wireless networks are found and our Wii, PS3 and PC notebook all connect. I contacted Apple and found that resetting the Airport Express was the only solution as it was originally set up on the Mac. The fact that it was picking up other wireless networks proved that there was nothing wrong with the wireless internals in the Mac.
So I factory reset the Airport Express by pressing the tiny button with a pen until it started flashing really quickly. Set it all up again on the Mac, then let the AE restart, then unplugged power from the wall for both the modem and AE for 20 seconds and reconnected.
It did the job for me - I hope it works for you. -

Well anyways, sounds like it's in recovery mode. You'll need to perform a restore through iTunes on the computer. -
Ipod touch says its connected to wifi but wont work? Help!
My ipod Touch 4th gen says its connected to wifi, but then wont work to any app involving wifi. We've had someone check out our Internet and our router and its fine. Every wifi needing device in the house works but not mine. Ive had my ipod for about 5 or 6 months and its never ever done this. it just stated not working yesterday. Thank you for all your help.

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
