IPhone 5 audio issues on calls with a headset

My new iPhone 5 has audio issues when I am calls with my wired apple headset. The caller cuts out like it having low reception. The ends of words and phrases are dropped as well as soft spoken words. Music works great through the headphones. Calls sound great on the handset just not on headset. Tried different headset. Still not working.
Any solutions?
Tim

The (same) problem exists when using the original Apple headset, which belongs to iPhone 4S, as well as using the Sennheiser MM30i. The new EarPods are the only ones that seem to work properly.
In addition to that, both headsets work perfectly well, when connected to iPhone 4S.
Eventually, both iPhone 5 itself and SIM card have been exchanged by the provider. Unfortunately the problem still exists.

  • IPhone 5 audio issues when paired with surround sound via Bluetooth.

iPhone 5 has developed audio issues since ios7 updates when its connected to surround sound system via Bluetooth. Audio jumps and skips in erratic and unpredictable manner on music app and worse on third party apps such as YouTube  . Have restored phone from factory settings etc. Have also checked surround sound for fault with Bluetooth; iPhone 4 ios7 works fine, android works fine but newest iPod touch with ios7 appears to have developed same issue as iPhone 5 since ios7 updates. Advise people to check for this issue on their Bluetooth devices and any advice would be appreciated on this issue  :)

    Hey there Vxas,
It sounds like you are gettings some very unexpected behaviour from the iPhone to your bluetooth surround sound system. I would try the troubleshooting recommended in this article:
iOS: How to troubleshoot Bluetooth connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4562
Check that you are in range of the Bluetooth device with which you are trying to pair your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Most Bluetooth devices have a range of approximately 30 feet.
On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your device in the list. If your device says Not Connected, tap the name of your device to attempt to connect it.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and then on again.
Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is turned on and fully charged or connected to power.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Bluetooth and locate the Bluetooth accessory you are currently connected to or attempting to connect to. Then tap and Forget this Device. Try to pair your Bluetooth accessory again.
Note: You may need to re-enter your Bluetooth accessory PIN if your accessory requires one. Some common PINs are 0000, 1111, and 1234.
Restart your Bluetooth accessory by turning it off and then on again1.
Update your device to the latest version of software. See how to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If your Bluetooth accessory has upgradeable firmware, check to see that you have the latest version1, 2.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Issue when calling with Facetime video from iphone 6 to iphone 4

    Hello,
I am trying to call with facetime video from my iphone 6 (ios 8.0.2) to an iphone 4 (ios 7.1.2) but it doesn't work. It works when I use facetime audio but not the video. I have tried to use my ipad 2 (ios 8.0.2) instead of the iphone 6 and I am experiencing the same problem. Can you please help me out here?
    Thnaks!

The iPhone 4 would have to be on wifi for the video to come through, I think. Is the person with the iPhone 4 on wifi?
Can that person receive calls from anyone else using Facetime?

  • Can't End Call with Bluetooth Headset

Having just purchased a Blackberry 8330, I am disappointed with the inability to end a call with a Bluetooth hands free device (Jabra VBT185Z).  The hang-up problem occurs when the Blackberry is locked and a call is placed with the Bluetooth device. While this may sound trivial, I find not being able to end a call while driving without first punching in password and unlocking my Blackberry extremely inconvenient, a hazard to driving, a waste of air time, and an engineering oversight.
I'd appreciate any advice on fixing the problem or determining a bluetooth alternative.  (May be it's time for an iPhone.)

    Hi nlowpow,
Please could you back up your phone and do a reset through Settings > About > Reset phone. Note this will wipe all data and settings from the phone.
Also, check your SIM card or swap it with a new SIM (usually without charge from your operator). If you still experience this, please take your phone to a Nokia Care point to ensure there is no hardware problems.
    Hope this helps.

  • Iphone audio issues ironed out yet?

    Hi
Have the newer models had the audio issue sorted were by recording video with all the volume and playback levels up high records a high pitch sound into the audio track of the video? or the speaker produces a high pitch noise after sounds like lock unlock and sending sms sounds?
Only I have a recent model week 33 and this is doing the same is this a fix for 3.1 we are waiting for or is it luck of the draw that some don't come with it?

I don't have such issues with my week 23 3GS. I think only Apple could answer your question and unless it's a universal problem (apparently it is not), I doubt you'll get an answer -- and certainly not one in this user-to-user forum.

  • UI Audio Issues following sleep with External Speakers

    Hi
    I have a May 2011 27inch iMac that I upgraded to Lion.
I use a set of Aego Acoustic Energy Speakers plugged in via the headphone port.
All works fine until I put my mac to sleep, upon restoring from sleep some UI sounds stop working. iTunes, and QuickTime play fine but I get no sound when emptying trash, dragging folders, new email, send email etc.
The strange thing is if I unplug the speakers then all the sounds play in one continuios blast so I can new mail sound x8 send mail sound x6 etc then if I plug the speakers back in all is fine again until I send the mac to sleep and then problem starts again.
A restart also sorts this out but its a pain having to unplug / replug in my speakers everytime my mac sleeps. It was fine under Snow Leopard.
I was hoping the 10.7.1 update was going to fix it but it hasn't.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Richard

  • Iphone Audio issues

The speaker of my iphone randomly stopped working today. I was listening to music when it sputtered a bit and went silent. The only sounds that work is the actual phone. I can talk fine, but my ringtone wont play and i cant listen to anything without headphones. Ive restarted it a bunch of times, and tried plugging and unplugging a headphone jack.
    Any suggestions?

If no change after inserting and removing the earbuds several times in a row, powering your iPhone off and on, and/or an iPhone reset, sounds like the switch mechanism is stuck that is supposed to switch from the earbuds to the external speaker after removing the earbuds.
If you live near an Apple store, you can make an appointment to have this checked and maybe fixed.

  • Loss of Mic Audio during Skype Call

I currently have a Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 and at about one minute into a Skype call the other party looses audio from me - I have tried all the normal repairs - remove then reboot and reinstall Skype - remove any conflicting applications, etc. However after noticing similar complaints from Tablets I presume this is a bug in the current version of Skype for Android.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

Sadly, I've been experiencing this problem for 2 years now. Here's the link to my original post:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Android-archive/Mic-and-Speakerphone-stop-working-mid-conversation/m-p...
I have the same issue when calling with Skype using my Android Nexus 4, which has the latest versions of the Android OS (5.0.1) and Skype (5.1.0.58677).
The only workaround that I've found, and it's not really a solution, is to use the Skype app for Windows (desktop) when possible, and avoid calling from my Android phone.
Hopefully, the people at Skype can address this issue, since it's been a long-standing issue.

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic.  And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4, so it appears my headset mic is fine.  I can also use voice activated dialing, although it fails miserably interpreting numbers.  However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.   I just get barely audible static.  Any suggestions?   Thanks.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.
    Thanks!

  • Outgoing call audio issue

I bought an iPhone 4s in India two days back. I am facing a strange problem when I make audio calls. Very often (not all the time) I do not hear any audio after making an outgoing call though the call go thru' and timer starts clicking. When I checked with the people whom I called, they said that they got the call but did not hear anything at their end. The workaround that I figured out is to press SPEAKER button twice (activate and deactivate) when I encouter this problem. It seems to be working as of now. Not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem or if I am missing anything with settings. Can someone help me?
    Thanks !!!

    Hi raj1434,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not hearing callers, or being heard on calls, use these steps to guide your troubleshooting:
    iPhone: Microphone issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5183
Make sure nothing is plugged in to the jack connector.
Make sure nothing is blocking any of the microphones (see the pictures below to locate the microphones on your device)
Make sure none of the microphones is obstructed by dirt or debris.
Turn the iPhone off and then on.
Make sure that the latest version of iOS is installed.
iPhone: Receiver and call audio quality issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5196
Increase the volume during the call.
Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver. If you're using a protective case or display film, remove it and try again.
Make sure nothing is plugged into the headphone jack or the dock connector.
Check the receiver opening to see if it is clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
Try another location with better signal. If the audio issue happens only when on a call, it could be due to the location.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or a car kit, try turning off Bluetooth on your device. Learn more about troubleshooting Bluetooth connections.
If none of the steps above correct the behavior, back up your iPhone and restore the iOS software to factory settings:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Best,
    Jeremy
