IPhone 5 backlight, blue scan line issue fix

Found a fix for a double issue I was having, so thought I'd go ahead and post.  Reason being that it took fixing one before the other resolved.  I'd had an issue with the backlight on my iPhone 5 suddenly staying on after being used or even if a game notification came in or what not.  Then I had that blue scan line that flows back and forth across the phone suddenly come on as well.  Turning off/on the phone didn't help, nor did doing the off switch/home button reset thing.
What worked is going into Settings>General>Accessibility>Physical and Motor (down at the bottom) and then turning off the Switch Control.
I've had the blue scan line suddenly appearing issue before, and it seems the Switch Control comes on by itself because I've never gone in and turned it on.  But it was the first time I'd had the backlight issue paired with the scan line issue.
Hope this helps some others out.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

• Vsync Screen Tearing / Scan Line Issue?

This is something I noticed on my iMac after updating to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I noticed a horizontal break in the screen when I was doing any kind of graphic intensive operation. Anything from scrolling up and down on a web page in Safari, to switching screens in Spaces, to bring up my Dashboard or switching users with FUS. By opening a new movie recording in Quicktime X and simply moving the video around, you can clearly see this break is not a random screen tear, but actually some sort of scan line moving from top to bottom in my monitor. I've never seen this prior to Snow Leopard, but I suppose it is possible this is a hardware issue, rather than a software or driver issue. Can anyone else duplicate this on Snow Leopard? I am on a 2007 2.8 Core 2 Extreme iMac with RadeonHD2600 graphics.
I made a video of the issue and posted to youtube if you want to see what I am talking about.

I also get this issue in Snow Leopard when connecting my iMac up to a TV via the apply video adaptor. I didn't get this with Leopard and I don't get this on my iMac display.
I've been through all the video settings I can find (frame rates, display sizes, etc) and each one still has the issue. SL has changed the system preferences for external video so I guess something else may have also changed.

• Vertical blue scanning line won t quit

Vertical blue line continues to float across screen, does not stop!  If scanning, I assume for security, one would think that once, twice and then go off?!
But no..it keeps going...no matter what.
It seems to hinder some sites!
Netflix it goes on continually across the movie!  Keeps clicking on no matter what I do?!

You could have a hardware problem and you will not be able to fix a hardware problem. You may need to take it to an Apple Store and let an Apple Genius take a look at it. In the meantime, try resetting the iPad and see if that makes the line disappear.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

• Blue wavy lines during start up

Asking on behalf of a non-internet connected friend running a c 2001 Power Mac G4 (pre-MDD) which displays wavy blue horizontal lines scrolling down the screen during start up and for maybe 30 seconds afterwards. From then on it's fine. Is this an early sign of trouble and if so, graphics card or monitor?

What type of monitor are you using? CRT or LCD? If CRT(old tube, heavy type) can be affected by AC power line 60HZ frequency at startup of monitor if monitor is old.Other possibility is that it is not grounded well. Try changing the plug to a different AC outlet. If you can try another monitor and it does the same thing, it is most likely the Graphics Card .I doubt that if you have an LCD(Flat display) that it is the LCD. LCD's don't use AC voltages to cause those blue scanning lines. I could be wrong. Also see if all connectors are tight.

• IPhone 4s scan lines and other issues?

So I recently bought an iphone off of craigslist in June  (Biggest mistake I've ever made). I met up with the person and the iphone looked pretty fine to me, who's never had an iphone btw, but as soon as I got home I noticed slight lines going across the screen. They were red and blue. They bothered me, but not too much. It effected the back camera more than the front but I said hey I can live with it considering I got the phone really cheap. Well now it's been 3 months since and it's gotten much worse. The scan lines are worse, the screen freezes, then fades to black. Also when I try to use the camera everything goes green and distorted then turna inverted. And when I try to look at pictures they have vertical lines thru them so I cant even make out what it is. If I really want to see a picture I have to screen shot it to get a quick glimpse. Also I noticed the screen freaks out more when there is color. So say I'm on my screen lock and my screen lock is just white, then the horizontal lines arent too bad. But if I go to my home page were all the apps have color, it freaks out. Or when I go on instagram, it completely wigs out and the screen freezes and fades out. I haven't dropped it accept once off the table and cracked the back, but I had this problem before so I know that's not why. I don't know if it has any water damage from the previous owner. The only thing she mentioned was that the screen was cracked. Please if you know what's wrong or have any advice please let me know. Thank you.

The screen needs to be replaced.
You can see if the phone have been in contact with water by looking at the indicators. You'll find dem here: http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT3302/HT3302-iphone _4-activated-001-mul.png
If they turn out to be read that indicates that the phone is water damaged.
You should talk to folks at apple to here what they can do to help you out.
Good lock!

I can't trasfer music from my library in itunes to my iphone 3GS. A black ring with a line through it comes up when i try to move music onto my iphone from itunes. How can I fix this so that I can load my phone with music?

How are you trying to transfer it and what are your setting on iTunes.  I'm not on a computer that has iTunes at the moment so I'm going from memory and similar issue.  If iTunes is set to sync music then I don't think you can select and drag, if set to manual manage music then you can.  Also make sure you are dragging to music on the iPhone.
Hope this helps

I updated my iphone to OS 5.0.1 and i can not add events to my iphone calendar- does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I updated today to the 5.0.1 and now when I try to sync to ITunes, it doesn't recognize my phone and an error message comes up saying that "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started.'  What does this mean?  Never mind - I found an article in the Support about this very thing!  Thanks!

Delete background Apps from memory and then Reset.
To Delete background Apps, double click Home button, in the bar at bottom, hold down on an App Icon until the minus sign appears, tap all the minus signs, until all background Apps are cleared from memory. Then Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself, ignor the 'slide to power off' let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.

• I unregistered my iphone but still am having issues getting texts from iphone users. Anyone know how to fix this?

I unregistered my iphone but still am having issues getting texts from iphone users. Anyone know how to fix this?

Turn off iMessage on the old iPhone.
Restore the iPhone as new.
Have the other iPhone users delete the current message thread, and start a new messae to you.
Have the other iPhone users delete your contact, then re-add it.
Go to ww.icloud.com and remove the device from your Find My iPhone.
Go to appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and/or password.
Contact Apple Support at getsupport.apple.com for further assistance if these steps don't work.
Wait about 30 days for the iMessage server to self-correct the issue.

• How to fix blue horizontal lines on imac

Help me,,,
how to fix blue horizontal lines on my imac screen

Take it to an Apple store genius bar and have it tested...a year ago there were several posts about vertical lines, sometimes blue, sometimes yellow, sometimes pink and mixtures...in every case it turned out to be due to failure of a graphics module chip.  The Apple techs were able to replace the chip (the user cannot even think of doing that) for a price significantly less than a new logic board.
So, take it in and have it tested.

• How do you get rid of scan lines found on the iphone screen?

I have a black iphone 4s.  It was working perfectly fine until a week ago where i noticed small "scan lines" towards the middle and bottom of the screen.  I am also seeing small red specks in pictures.  Is there any way to get rid of these lines and specks?  I am on IOS 6.1.3 (not sure if that has anything to do with it lol).

Sounds like your display is dying.  Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

• Scan lines on IPhone 4S ??

Just noticed that there are what appears to be scan lines on my 4s screen in addition to the yellow tint. The scan lines are visible on light backgrounds and on the keyboard especially in landscape. They appear as if there are tiny dots on the screen. They are not dead pixels. My serial starts with c39. This screen is garbage!!

Same here.Running iOS 5.1.1.First 2 months I didn't notice this lines,but after 2 months I start see this lines.My serial stars c39 too.

• Blue thin line

I have a 2007 20" iMac.  Recently just reinstalled Lion and had a thin, blue, vertical line on the left side of the display appear.  Wasn't there before upgrading from Snow Leopard.  If you look closely, you can see it flickers.  It's not too noticeable when the display is showing light colored images but when darker images are on the screen, the line is noticeable.  What would make this happen and how would I go about fixing this without Apple's help?

Matse,Willkommen zu den
Diskussionen,
What happens if you change the
display resolution? (Apple Menu > System
Preferences... > Displays > Display tab >
Resolutions) If the line stays in exactly the same
place despite the resolution change this points to an
LCD rather than graphics card issue.
mrtotes
thank you Adam for that hint. The line stays exactly in the same place. That means it is an LCD issue? That´s your opinion? Do you have any idea if it is possible to repair it, or is the only possibility to change the panel?
Thank you, Matse
