IPhone 5 Battery exchanging program

Hello everyone!
I have got the iPhone 5 and checked by the serial number if it belongs to the battery exchanging program of Apple. It does.
And now my question is: If I let the battery get exchanged, will Apple update the software? Because I do not want to lose the one it is running now.
Has anyone of you made experience with it yet?
Best regards

  • Battery exchange program : thanks for the iMac motherboard!

    Hi!
I had problems with my battery.
Its serial number made me able to use the battery exchange program.
Thanks to UPS, after lots of difficulties, I received my parcel. How big it was!
I understood fast why it was so big: it was a iMac G5 motherboard. I don't need it. I need a battery.
What I wonder is: who do I need to contact, and how? (I'm French).
    Thx in advance!
    iBook G4 12" 1.2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Apple just sent me a replacement battery, and I can keep the motherboard (lol)! Thx a lot, even if I spent over half an hour calling an expensive number...
Still in love with my iBook, Vishnu.

  • Satellite A100-570: Battery exchange program utility doesn't load page

I've read in the latest issue of computeractive that some notebook batteries malfunctions and mine was one of those mentioned.
I downloaded the piece of software from Toshiba website to check the battery and indeed it told me my battery was affected. I wanted to put in an exchange application to which I clicked yes.
However, when the page loads up it is unknown. I have a A100-570 and am quite concerned about this matter but trying to get any info from Toshiba is quite difficult by email.
    Can anybody help?

    Hi
I found on the Toshiba European page a detailed description how to use this tool.
You can find this document here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download -> Product Updates -> Product Update: Toshiba Voluntary Battery Exchange program
In the section Battery Pack identification you will find a link to the Battery Pack Identification manual and to the Toshiba support bulletin document about Battery Pack Voluntary Replacement Program.
Furthermore I would recommend reinstalling this tool and please check the internet option like Privacy and security in the Internet explorer.

  • Very frustrated with the battery exchange program

I'm very frustrated with the battery exchange program. I signed up online, double checked all my information, and submitted. No where on the page did it say that a signature would be required upon delivery. I work during the day, so I'm not home to receive shipments (any package I do receive is just left in the lobby, and it's always been fine--I live in a secure building).
DHL is refusing to leave the package at the door. Apple refuses to tell DHL that it's ok to redirect the package to my place of employment. My only option, it seems, is to spend almost two hours of my time driving to the DHL location and back (the pickup location isn't even in the same county I live in).
If anyone has any better ideas, I would love to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Andrea

If your battery was stolen after it was delivered, I'd bet you'd really get upset. If DHL is anything like UPS, you can sign the receipt telling them to leave the package. Pretty simple.

  • Battery Exchange Program

I've had an issue that I've seen come up a lot in the forums. After the 3.2 update, my battery began to have issues. At full charge, if unplugged, it shuts off without warning as if the battery wasn't connected. I've done research and found out about the battery exchange program. I found two different postings on it, one listed several serial numbers that qualified for the extended warranty on the battery, the other listed the following symptoms:
    Identifying an affected battery
Affected batteries will have one or more of the following symptoms:
Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
    Battery pack is visibly deformed.
Mine qualifies according to the list of symptoms because is "exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery a cycle count less than three hundred."
    Battery Information:
    Model Information:
    Serial Number: Sony-ASMB012-363f-c391
    Manufacturer: Sony
    Device name: ASMB012
    Pack Lot Code: 0003
    PCB Lot Code: 0000
    Firmware Version: 102a
    Hardware Revision: 0400
    Cell Revision: 0303
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 3619
    Fully charged: Yes
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3715
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 220
    Condition: Check battery
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 12416
When I talked with Apple, they said it did not fall into the list of serial numbers that were included in the program. Does anyone have any advice?? This is clearly exhibiting the issues mentioned, but they're refusing to replace it. My computer is just over a year old. Am I going to have to just bite the bullet and buy a battery?

Asen, same here. I talked to 3 different people at Apple and they all told me my serial number didn't fit. It didn't seem to matter that my battery showed the symptoms described in the link above about the extended warranty. It didn't matter to them whether the symptoms started before or after my warranty expired.
It's frustrating that this is a known issue, but they won't help because my serial number doesn't match the "bad batch." Do you have an Apple store near you? I don't. Most people have suggested I go to the Apple store. Maybe you should try it!
See, my problem is a bit complicated. I live outside US. In Europe. In my country the customer care seems not so well developed. Plus there is no Apple office. It seems we have only resellers. But I see it has some room of improvement here too.
I could see there are some group of people having similar problem. How can we contact apple? Do they read these discussions?
If another "batch" of batteries is displaying similar problems, to those already reported, I believe they should consider it. That most probably means that there is another "bad batch" of batteries.
I would say it is fair to have that problem solved by Apple. This is surely not a user-caused issue. This is a hardware problem, I believe. If we pay crazy money in Europe for our MacBooks (compared to US prices), I believe we should be taken care better if some problem is not caused by us.

    Hello,
For the folks who have participated in Apple's battery exchange program for defective batteries

My question is, which courier does Apple use? They promptly sent me a battery in the mail, which was left on my doorstep, and now I'm left with the return packaging, prepaid, with no instructions or labels indicating which company they use to mail it back. Thanks!

  • MBP 15" Battery Exchange Program

I have noticed several users posting about battery issues on the 15" mbp's. please be aware that there is currently a battery exchange program available on specific batteries. Not all are affected, but you can enter in your computer and battery serial numbers online to see whether or not yours qualify.
    The website is here:

The problem is that Apple sent me a new battery for my MBP 15'' first generation (via the battery exchange program in July 2006), and here is what is happening now :

  • Question on Battery Exchange Program

    Hello,
I've got a MacBook Pro (bought it in 2006, USA). Battery stopped working right a month ago. Battery status says "Battery is not charging". The serial number of battery and MacBook Pro do fit the "15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Exchange Program" — https://support.apple.com/macbookpro15/batteryexchange/
However, I can't find my country in the list for new batteries to be shipped to. I'm living in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Please, add Russia to the list so I could exchange my battery. Or please tell me where should I go to exchange it. I couldn't find any information about official Apple centre in Russia on this website.
    Regards,

    Welcome to the Forums, Ilya!
Interesting: Russia is not in the pop-up list of countries, even when accessed from the Cyrillic language version of the battery exchange page!

  • Battery exchange program: is proof of purchase really needed?!

I own Apple PowerBook G4 and my battery falls under this exchange program.
I'm from Russia but purchased my notebook in the USA.
On Apple Support website you write that only my computer serial number and battery serial number needed to participate in this exchange program.
I contacted Apple Distributors here in Russia (www.apple.ru, www.deepapple.com) about participating in this exchange program. But alongside with these two serial numbers they ask me for "proof of purchase" otherwise they refuse to exchange my battery.
Why is it so? Why I don't need that "proof of purchase" in the USA and in other countries listed, but need it in Russia? Why 2 serial numbers, the notebook itself, the original PowerBook box with documents package are not enough to exchange my battery?
Not so long ago I've noticed that my battery changed its shape and color but didn't know why it happened. After reading about this problem and the exchange program on Apple Support website I'm afraid to continue using my Apple computer and I am refused to exchange the battery.
What have I to do? Please help!
Apple PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Apple iPod mini 4GB Green

    Hi,
I live in the US, also where I purchased my PowerBook G4 12". When I received my replacement battery it did not fit, and when I called Apple about they asked me for a purchase date and told me that because I bought my machine from MacMall it would have to be registered with Apple. Now I have to fax AND email them an invoice proving that I purchased it just to get a SECOND replacement battery.
I don't know why a SN of both machine and battery isn't sufficient, except that maybe they want to know that you actually purchased the machine, not bought it from someone else (maybe the warranty doesn't transfer?) or that it's not stolen?

  • Iphone 4s battery exchange

    Hello !
A family member has an iPhone 4S which could use a new battery.
I heard that it is possible to exchange it on my own. Though I would feel safer when this would be done by a professional.
Does Apple still exchange iPhone 4S batteries? And how is the procedure.
I'm from Germany in case this changes anything...
    Thanks very much !

The iPhone can't be serviced by the user, this will void the warranty and the service options given by Apple.

• My iPhone 5's serial number isn't eligible for iPhone 5 battery replacement program, but clearly has battery problem.  Help?

I was relieved and not at all surprised to find out that Apple was recalling certain iPhone 5s for battery replacement.  I was sure mine was one affected.  (My battery doesn't last more than 4-5 hours after a full charge at normal use.)
Having entered my serial number on this page: https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/  I was told that my phone wasn't eligible.
I sincerely think my phone has a defective battery and that the range of serial numbers should be broadened beyond what Apple calls a "very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices."
Anyone know how I can get Apple to help here?

I have the same problem with a iPhone 5c which was purchased last fall (2013) after the Replacement Program time frame. It drains with minimal use.
We have several iPhone4's, 2-3 years old, which have never had this issue.
From reading all of these responses/questions, Apple really needs to address this issue for all 5's. This is a big problem, when the phone is completely unreliable.

  • Battery exchange program - why wouldn't I get a new battery?

    Hi everyone,
My MBP from December 2006 has a bad battery.
    39% capacity
    173 loadcycles
turns off the computer without warning at high battery level
Now, happily I think I can get a new one because of the date of my computer and the symptoms. Well, wrong according to Apple support in Denmark.
They checked the serialnumber of my computer (not the battery) and said it was not included in the program.
Anyone else get the same story?
    What can I do?

It's not a dealer. It is apple support hotline. We talked specifically about the program I linked to. What is the other program?
The other program is still linked to at http://www.apple.com/au/support/macbookpro/batteryexchange/faq/
We have seen a few instances here where support staff (both at Apple and dealers) have not realised the programs are different , and tried to apply the "serial number" process to the program where this is not relevant. Sometimes simply speaking to a different person there will resolve the issue. Some people have needed to specifically talk the support people through the two different programs though.
I don't see anywhere that it is limited to two years. Maybe I read loyer language very well.
see the final paragrpah of the page you linked to:
+This program extends repair coverage on the battery for up to two years from the date of purchase of the computer for Intel Core Duo-based MacBook and MacBook Pro computers.+

  • How long does it take to get your iPhone 5 battery replaced?

For anyone who had their iPhone 5 battery replaced in the replacement program, I was wondering if you could tell me how long this took and what the procedure is. Can you do this at a Genius Bar? I'm probably going to have no more than a few hours to do this between trips and wondering if it takes five minutes or a couple of days.
    Thanks very much.

The current iPhone 5 battery replacement program has caused some Apple Stores (including all of them in Houston) to run out of spare batteries. They order more, but can take a few days to get fresh stock.
I went into a store on Tuesday. The Genius ran a diagnostic to be sure my battery was in bad enough shape o qualify. It did, but they were out of batteries, so they put me in line to get one. Today's shipment included a battery with my name on it, so I took the phone back in today. The replacement was complete about 45 minutes later.

  • PB G4 Battery Exchange - Still Applicable?

    Hi everyone.
My wife has a 12" Powerbook G4 that she purchased in America in 2005. After that she got busy travelling internationally and missed the last battery recall.
I've checked the serial numbers with the Battery Program page and the page says the computer and battery are still eligible. But when I call a Local Service Provider here in Malaysia, they inform me that the computer is already out of warranty and I'll have to pay for a new battery.
So I'm confused. If warranty is a prerequisite for eligibility, shouldn't the Battery Program page just tell me that my wife's computer is no longer eligible?
    Thanks and regards.

One of the Discussions hosts has confirmed for me that the exchange program for 12" PB batteries is still in effect and should be honored. But he goes on to say,
I honestly have no idea where I could direct the customer other than the AppleCare number for Malaysia, which is 1-800-803-638 per http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html
Whoever you talk to, you should reference the URL for the Battery Exchange Program for your Powerbook:
    https://depot.info.apple.com/batteryexchange/
and point out that it says nothing whatsoever about needing warranty coverage and is a safety-related recall.
If you speak with someone in person, such as another AASP, take along printouts of that page and of the "yes, you are eligible" message that you get when you enter your serial numbers into that page.
    Good luck.
