IPhone 5 battery is terrible - been through two now --- anyone else? Help

I have gone through 2 iPhone 5's now.  Genius Bar swapped my first one out.  Second one is worse than first.  I lose 1 percent every minute or two, just doing email and phone.  Have tried all fixes I can find over the past week now with no success and have lost patience.  There is serious problem with iPhone 5.  I am super bummed - have loved every Apple product ever, have 4 Apple computers, 3 iPads and 5 iPhones between me and my wife and kids.  Converted my entire business to Apple (server and all) - weve spent over 100k easy in Apple products in last 2 years for our office.   For the first time, I am about to dump my Apple loyalty and try a different phone.  I can't handle the battery issue (and don't get me started in the wifi speed or lack of that I have experienced with iPhone 5).
I am convinced this is a hardware, iPhone 5 issue, not iOS 6 issue.  I have put iOS 6 in my daughters iPhone 4 and my sons iPhone 4S, and both those phones have no battery issue at all.  I was with my son last Sunday at a ball game and he was using his 4s for photo, video, internet, facebook, instagram and text the whole game.  I used my new iphone 5 minimally for photo, video and a few texts and two short calls.  After two hours I was left at 31%, while he had 78% left with heavier use with iOS 6 on his 4s.... I am really hoping its a software thing and there is af fix in next few days, otherwise hasty la vista iPhone.
I am sick and tired of reading posts and failed fix it's for hours every night.
PLEASE, IF ANYONE HAS A TRUE FIX THAT HAS WORKED, LET ME KNOW..... Last chance for the iphone 5 here.

The battery in my new iPhone 4s runs down very quickly.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Location services is NOT running all the time, only when the arrow appears in the message bar. It is not a major consumer of power unless you are actively using it (such as using the Maps app), and even then it is a minor factor in battery life; loading maps is the big user of power in the Maps app. And turning off Location Services defeats Find my iPhone.
There are only 2 heavy battery consumers, cellular data and interactive games. Everything else (bluetooth, location services, WiFi, etc) are tiny in comparison to these and will not make a significant difference in battery life.

I am an activist when it comes to rip-offs and I intend to set up a group to pressure the Ausralian government to legislate to make all computer software producers to make all new software compatible with all old software AT NO COST to the user.
I thought about that myself, but when it comes to Windows XP. It is peculiar that software companies get away with "selling" software that suddenly stops working properly. The problem with XP is of course an environmental one as well. There is a huge number of fully functional PCs that suddenly are no longer supported by Microsoft, and that are not powerful enough to take newer supported MS operating systems. What MS basically recommends people is to throw them away with a horrible cost for our environment.

  • My iPhone 5 battery has recently been draining very quickly. Also shuts down at random times.

Has this been happening to anyone else? I use my phone just as much as anyone else, and l'll admit sometimes it's a little more but this only recently started happening. Around the same time my battery started draining all the time my phone would also shut down out of now where. It usually happens around 30 percent. I use my phone to text, go on Instagram, and tumblr. Occasionally I'll play a game or watch a video or do some web browsing but never an excessive amount. This started happening out of no where. I've had my phone for about a year now and this has only recently become a problem. Before it would be good from 5am to about 6pm before hitting the less than 30 percent mark. But now I can't make it to 3 hours without losing almost half of it. I've already drained it to zero then charged it but that was a temporary fix. I'm looking for a permanent solution. I've also done a lot of the power saving tips like closing background apps, turned off location services, turned off auto updates, parallax, I don't use the moving backgrounds, background app refresh is off. Yet the battery still goes fast. I charged it to 100 without using while it was charging, then I was using it just to check if it was fixed but it wasn't. It went from 93 to 83 percent in less than a minute and I wasn't even using it. Like I also said before it also shuts down out of nowhere. Any help or advice is appreciated.
Ps; sorry for the wall of text, I just wanted to give as much info as possible.

  • TS3992 I keep getting an error message "the last backup could not be completed" every time I try to backup my iPhone manually.  It's been almost two months since the last successful backup!

My iPhone 4s will not backup. I've tried repeatedly but keep getting the message "the last backup could not be completed".  It's been nearly two months since the
last backup.  However, my iPad2 is backing up perfectly.  Any thoughts???????

    Try the following steps:
Plug your iPod Touch to your Mac/PC using USB cable.
Open iTunes software and choose “backup to this computer” .
Then you need to do a sysncing.
Go to iCloud (iPod Touch: Settings > iCloud) and delete all previous backups.
Then in iTunes, Turn on “backup to iCloud” again.
On your iOS device, now you are able to backup to iCloud.

  • For the last 2 days, my battery has been draining rapidy.  Anyone else having issues?  How can I fix it.

I've had my iPhone 4S for over a year now and have had no issues.  All of a sudden, two or three days ago, my battery has been draining rapidly.  I am on IOS 6.01 and have been for about a month.  I have now turned everything off, including iCloud backup.  Appreciate knowing if anyone else is having sudden battery draining.

A rogue app can sometimes drain resources when it has a background process running. Usually this can be cleared with a simple soft reset. Have you tried that? If so, have you installed any new apps recently? You might want to try uninstalling the last new app or two you added to see if that makes any difference.

  • IPhone 5 Battery is a Bust and the Fixes Won't Help

You can setup your new iPhone 5 as a new phone, and it's not going to solve the problem of battery drain. I tried both ways. First, I restored by 3Gs backup to the new iPhone 5, and then I wiped the new iPhone 5 and set it up as a new phone. There are alot of claims that this will make a substantial difference. It may have made a small difference, but in the larger context it makes none and here's why:
The iPhone 5 battery does not perform even close to the specs claimed by Apple. There is no way you will get 225 hours of standby time. There is no way you will get 10 hours of Wi-Fi time.
    Specs: http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
I could put my new iPhone 5 into Airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi on and have everything else turned off: Siri, Location, Nofitications, Push. At best, I might get 6 hours of surfing time. No video, just apps and web pages.
I doubt very much iPhone 5 can even last a single work day of telephone calls, email, and web surfing. And this would be even if LTE, and everything else is turned off: Siri, Location, Nofitications, Push.
Latest Usage Data, with no LTE, Siri, Location, Nofitications, Push. In fact, the stats below are with 1 short phone call, and in Airplane mode overnight. Usage must stand for any time the phone is simply not asleep, certainly not when an app is being used.
    Battery: 9%
    Usage: 6 hours, 27 minutes
    Standby: 1 Day, 5 hours.
My conclusion: Apple's battery specs are not even close to performance. I really don't see how one could use the iPhone 5 as a business phone, as it could not even get you through a 12 hour day. And by 12 hour day, I mean ALOT of time when the phone is is in standby mode.

  • My hdmi adapter is no longer working with movies i purchased through iTunes.  Anyone else having an issue?, my hdmi adapter is no longer working with movies i purchased through iTunes.  Anyone else having an issue?

Does anyone else have this problem.  It just started recently.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

Hopefully it's been resolved by now - I have no idea how large each one of those files are. The progress bar tells you; FWIW, I only download one at a time - makes it easier and faster and you can choose to do the next one when you have time.
