IPhone 5 battery replaced by Apple, now constantly rebooting

Hello,
Yesterday, my wife and I both had our batteries replaced by Apple as part of the battery replacement program.  Mine is working fine, but my wife's is not.  When we got home, the battery was at 22% (understandable since it had just been replaced with a new one).  I plugged it to charge.  After about 4 hours, I checked it, and it was still at 22%!  I did a hard reset and the phone came back up at 100%, so I figured it was a glitch.  Well, this morning it was still at 100% after not being plugged in since yesterday, so I did another hard reset.  Now, the iPhone will reboot itself every 3-4 minutes.
I have tried restoring the phone as a new device.  (I can't restore a backup since it will reboot before completing).
Strange thing,...it doesn't seem to reboot unless I am using the iPhone, or it is plugged in trying to sync.  If I let it just sit on the table with the screen off, it won't reboot.
I have an appointment at an Apple store tomorrow, but I am afraid since it is out of warranty, they won't help me....even though it was working fine before they replaced the battery (other than the fact the battery died after about 8 hours).
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks,
Jim

Check out my solution. This worked for me after having the battery replaced for my iPhone 5 at the Genius Bar. Not sure if it'll fix the 100% issue though. Tried resetting network settings like above. I'll have to see and wait. Just had my battery replaced yesterday.

  • How long does it take to get your iPhone 5 battery replaced?

For anyone who had their iPhone 5 battery replaced in the replacement program, I was wondering if you could tell me how long this took and what the procedure is. Can you do this at a Genius Bar? I'm probably going to have no more than a few hours to do this between trips and wondering if it takes five minutes or a couple of days.
    Thanks very much.

The current iPhone 5 battery replacement program has caused some Apple Stores (including all of them in Houston) to run out of spare batteries. They order more, but can take a few days to get fresh stock.
I went into a store on Tuesday. The Genius ran a diagnostic to be sure my battery was in bad enough shape o qualify. It did, but they were out of batteries, so they put me in line to get one. Today's shipment included a battery with my name on it, so I took the phone back in today. The replacement was complete about 45 minutes later.

Call applecare.  They can look up the IMEI number in their system to see if the device is eligible.

I have a mid 2009 13'' MBP. I got the battery replaced in Apple store, It then stopped displaying the battery status LED.
After some months of use my MBP died outside USA. I got it checked in Apple verfied Service centre and was told that logic board was faulty.
After I came back to US I took my MBP to Apple store and was told that there is liquid damage in the system. My question is that if there was liquid damage why did my MBP stop displaying the battery status right after  the battery was changed secondly why didnt the apple verified Service centre tell me that there was liquid damage afterall I paid them the money for diagnosing the problem.
Is there a process i can followup on this problem

These are question you would need to ask that service center.

  • Iphone 5 battery replacement problem.

The battery for my iPhone 5 needs to be replaced. It's been showing the red needs charging sign for over a week now, and even after I left it charging for over a day it didn't start. I was looking through similar complaints and I was more than sure it was the battery. I went to the Apple store this week to see if I was correct, and they said it definitely needed a battery replacement. Only problem is they wanted to charge me for $260 to replace it. Seemed like too much considering my iPhone battery hasn't been working right since I first go it. So recently I've been looking at some similar complaints on here and others seem to have the same problem. I read that here's a battery replacement program and my phone was entitled( here's the number F17JR7RGF8GH). Now my question is, if I go back to the apple store and show them my serial number will they replace it for free? Any help would be great, thank you.

The phone does meet the criteria, I attached a picture to verify this below. The phone is out of warranty though.  Also, there are no physical damages  whatsoever.

  • Making a case to a Genius for iPhone 4S battery replacement

Due to poor battery performance, I recently asked a Genius to declare my 4S a lemon and replace either the battery or the whole unit. I'd jumped through all of the remediation hoops, hard reset/rebuild, etc, and it looked like a legit lemon to me. The Genius assessment was that my battery performance was within the acceptable range and thus my request was politely denied. I'd like to understand what constitutes a replacement-worthy battery condition and whether there is a standard that is applied consistently across all Geniuses in all stores.
In the past, I've had my 3GS replaced by the Genius Bar for poor battery performance and the assessment seemed very subjective. This time with the 4S, the Genius used an iPad to download logs from my phone, notably the battery usage statistics for the two weeks prior. These are the Usage and Standby values that you can see in the Settings > General > Usage screen. They average two weeks worth of these values for their assessment.
In my case, the average Standby value was 18 hours. The Genius said that this was within the normal range and that 10-11 or worse would warrant concern. I don't recall if the average usage value came into the discussion.
I have two issues with the assessment:
    1) It didn't take into account "booster charges". Standby measures duration from 100% charge to the time you read the setting. In the case of the Genius assessment, it seemed to measure the duration between 100% charge and the lowest charge level before a full recharge started. Lets call this a "battery day".  The problem is that if you plug in during the middle of a battery day, you extend that day and skew the meaning of Standby duration. The iPhone notes this by showing the message "The iPhone has been plugged in since the last full charge". The problem is that the Genius doesn't take this into account. But simply, my average Standby of 18 hours was only that high because I was extending the battery day with brief booster charges.
    2) Even without regard to the above, 18 hours is vastly less than the advertised 200 hours and significantly less than my informal poll of Standby values of 4S owners.
So my question is: Is there an objective Apple standard on what average Standby and Usage need to show to warrant replacement?
    Thanks.

You may already be aware, but just in case, note the following quote from https://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html indicates that the battery must be at 50% or more from original specs before they will replace it under AppleCare+.
Service coverage is available only for the iPhone and its original included accessories that are defective in materials or workmanship or for battery depletion of 50 percent or more from original specification.
Another option you may consider would be to pay $89 Cdn to have the battery replaced: Apple - Support - Service Answer Center

  • My iPhone 5's serial number isn't eligible for iPhone 5 battery replacement program, but clearly has battery problem.  Help?

I was relieved and not at all surprised to find out that Apple was recalling certain iPhone 5s for battery replacement.  I was sure mine was one affected.  (My battery doesn't last more than 4-5 hours after a full charge at normal use.)
Having entered my serial number on this page: https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/  I was told that my phone wasn't eligible.
I sincerely think my phone has a defective battery and that the range of serial numbers should be broadened beyond what Apple calls a "very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices."
Anyone know how I can get Apple to help here?

I have the same problem with a iPhone 5c which was purchased last fall (2013) after the Replacement Program time frame. It drains with minimal use.
We have several iPhone4's, 2-3 years old, which have never had this issue.
From reading all of these responses/questions, Apple really needs to address this issue for all 5's. This is a big problem, when the phone is completely unreliable.

  • Where do I send my iphone for battery replacement??

I've submitted a service request for a replacement battery under the battery recall on some 5 models, but apple hasn't provided an address for me to send the phone to! I've now spent over an hour trying to find it, and I'l be damned if I'm paying to phone.
Any help from anyone else who's had this done would be appreciated!
And I live too far away from an apple store to have it repaired in store.
    Thanks in advance :-)

Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years from the date of your iPod purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod. During the plan’s coverage period, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $49 (iPod shuffle), $59 (iPod nano and classic), $79 (iPod touch) plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner.

  • Battery replacement from Apple?

    Hi all
The battery on my 15" MBP (2,2) is showing random health figures between 42% - 52%. I have 272 charge cycles, so I am not expecting it to perform as when it was new 2 years ago. Would I be eligible for battery replacement since it is outside Apple's specs?
    Many thanks.

Just to forewarn you that Apple's customer service has been terrible with replacing my battery. I found out back in June 2008 when my battery went completely dead (yes, wouldn't last two seconds) that my battery is eligible for replacement. I called Apple. They confirmed that it was eligible, directed me to their exchange web site, and after completing it even got an e-mail confirmation that the battery would be sent in 3 to 5 days.
After waiting nearly four months, I called Apple in early November and they agreed they had screwed up and promised to send me the battery. I am posting this at the end of November and there's still no sign of the battery! I called Apple today and this time another guy has again promised to send the battery out to me.
I have bought over $10,000 worth of Apple products over the last two years. After seeing how Apple treats its customers, I doubt I am going to buy any for a long time to come.

  • How much do battery replacements from Apple cost?

For anyone who's sent there ipod in to Apple for a battery replacement (I have a 5th gen.), how much did it cost? (not under warranty)
My batterie's not too bad, but it's definitely not new, and I'll need to replace it in the future.
    Thanks in advance!
    - Sam

With the 5th Generation your chances of finding a responsible 3rd party to fix it are almost nil. Apple does not actually open the device and put a battery in it they just replace the whole unit.
You can buy a battery from someplace like http://www.ipodjuice.com and they will sell you tools and pictures of how to do it but that is the one model they will not do a battery replacement due to the time and difficulty involved.

  • Iphone 6 screen replaced by Apple, but color difference?

About a week ago I visited my local Apple Store to have my iPhone 6 screen replaced because I had dropped my phone and the screen cracked.  The replacement took one day and it worked fine, but I have recently noticed when comparing my iPhone to other iPhone 6's that my screen lacks the blueish tint that all other phones have.  I have also compared it to my friend's iPhone 6 and his had a much more bluish tint, mine is not exactly yellow, but more of an in between.  This bothers me because my Phone hadn't always been this way and that's how I actually noticed that mine lacked a bit of the blue that I was use to.  Do you guys have any idea what this could be?  Different glass? Screen calibrated wrong?

The repair done by Apple is covered by a warranty as well. Bring it back to the Store and let them check the phone. But if the Genius at the Bar decides, that this is a rather "cosmetic" issue, they will not change the screen again.
