IPhone 5 blu mute switch

My iPhone 5 mute button is blue, i thought it was normal. But i've also saw an other iPhone 5 with red one, confused !

I've never seen or heard of a blue mute switch... they are all red, all 100+ million of them.  Are you sure you have a real iPhone and not a fake?  Did you purchase from an authorized seller or an individual?

  • How to fix sticky mute switch on iphone

My friend spilled some soda into my iPhone 4's mute switch and now, the day after, it is all sticky and refuses to make a clicking sound when it switches from vibrate to ringer or vice-versa. What can I do that would be safe? It still functions, but I would have to put that disclaimer wherever I try to sell it.

    Hi AZBurns,
You could try and dab a small cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and try and remove the soda from the ringer switch. Please dont drench the cotton swab!
Does the vibration motor work at all?

  • HT201412 apple iphone 4 ringer does not respond, mute switch is off,no volume indication on screen. Tried hard restart and reconfigured via itunes, and nothing. Can hear ringtone via earphones. Have tried almost everything with no result. Any  suggestions

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • I have just replaced the headphone jack, volume button and mute switch ribbon in my sister's iphone

As you see I replaced the ribbon on my sister's iphone. The volume buttons and mute switch dont work while the headphone jack works perfectly. Also it cannot find any wifi networks. Anyone having the same problem? This iphone has not been restored since it was bought. Or should she update to iOS7 maybe that'll help?
    Thanks

Thanks but thats not gonna happen. Way too expensive, the company I bought the replacement off send me another one maybe its the ribbon. Im going to restore it first though.

  • AIR 3 ios app not muted by iPhone physical mute switch

    hey
my app keeps playing sounds even when the iPhone 3g's physical mute button is switched
    is that a bug?
    Saar

    Hi Sariko:
You can achieve this by using native extensions. You can use the simple code given at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5560555/avaudiosession-category-not-working-as-document ation-dictates this will return bool value stating the state of the mute switch and then your app may decide to play sounds or stop them. You can google for Sample iOS native extensions to get started.
    Little More Explaination:
The iOS gives the app an opprtunity to state the kind of Audio that is being played. (Music, Ambient Audio like game sounds and many more) and then based on this category iOS defines Audio Behaviours like if it can be mixed with other sounds, wheather mute switch is respected etc. This behaviour is very specific to iOS which may not be found on other Mobile Platforms(not sure though).

  • My iPhone 4s will not ring and the mute switch is off.  Help?

I just got a new 4s for Christmas and the mute switch on the side is off (no orange is showing).  I am not hearing any incoming calls, text, voicemail, or email alerts. It will play the ring tone when I select it and will play music.  In settings / sounds menu if I have the silent off it does nothing when there is an incoming call or any other alert. If I have the Vibrate switch on in the silent section it will at least vibrate.  I am doing some thing stupid?  Please help!

Turns out it is hardware issue with the mute switch.  It will be replaced but I have to drive 75 miles to the nearest apple store. Or they can ship it to me but put a hold on my credit card of $700.00 until they receive the old phone back.

  • My iphone does not automatically switch off the display light when locked. How do I fix this?

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.2 software.
My iPhone does not automatically switch off the display light when it is locked. Therefore, if I get an e-mail/text message/pop-up from other application, the light just stays on, which obviously drains my battery.
The problem just started yesterday, and it has been a couple of days since I updated the software, so I wouldn't think the software update is the problem.
I have tried restarting the phone (using home and lock button), but that did not work.
Something else that seems weird is that once in a while, a blue beam rolls over the screen from one side to the other. I don't know why it does this, and have no idea whether this is related to the display light issue.
I hope someone is able to help by telling me what to do in order to get my phone to act normal again.
    Thank you x

Restart your device by holding the home and power button until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose any data.

  • Mute switch won't function since ios 7 upgrade

I am using iPad 4 wi-fi only (not 4G) version. Since upgrading to ios 7 the mute switch no longer works. When activated a message says "ringer off". I assume that is a function for iPhone. Has anyone had the same problem and knows a fix?

Yes... First of all, iPad does have a ringer on/off, as it can receives FaceTime calls, iMessage and so on.. In iOS 7 , you don't need to use that switch.. You can easily use the mute button from the control centre..just swipe from the bottom... Personal experience, I use that switch to lock screen rotation. I hope this is useful for you..

  • Mute switch is a landscape/portrait lock switch

I got my Iphone 5 back in April of 2013, and only recently realized that the switch above the volume control buttons is not supposed to be a landscape/portrait lock switch, rather, its supposed to be the mute switch.  I took it to the Verizon store and told them about it, and they let me exchange it for a new one.  I got the new one home, updated it to IO7, and then restored it with my backup, and the switch is STILL a landscape/portrait switch...I'm guessing that its something in my backup info, but I'm not sure why.
The switch on the Ipad is was landscape/portrait lock, but I've never had an Ipad, I did have an Ipod 5 before the Iphone 5, but thats it.  Dont understand why my backup would tell the Iphone to treat the switch as a landscape/portrait lock, not a mute.  Makes me wonder what else it could be doing that its not supposed to.
Anyone else ever heard of this happening?
    Thanks.

The mute switch has nothing to do with being able to hear someone when on a call, it simply mutes sounds like the ringer and notification.

  • Broken mute switch

So many of the forum posts are questions and complaints, but I just thought I'd take a moment to compliment and thank Apple, their stores and Geniuses.
Yesterday I noticed my iPhone's mute switch had broken off (no idea how that happened - I am not that hard on my phone) so I popped into the Apple store unannounced today. I didn't have an appointment but I got lucky and was able to see a Genius right away. I showed him the broken switch and he confirmed they've seen this problem before with a few other iPhones. Mine still had 2 months left on the warranty so he replaced it for me on the spot. Switching the phone service to the new device was very quick and he showed me how to initiate the data wipe on the old phone. I was out of there in less than 10 minutes altogether. I went home and was able to restore everything from yesterday's backup. I now have a brand spanking new happy phone. Thanks, Apple!!!

this has literally just happened to mine also.
mine is 4 months out of warranty so i don't think they will be able to do anything, there are replacement buttons on eBay!

  • Sound buttons and mute switch not working

My iPhone 4 has no sounds through the phone speaker except when I play music. It works fine through a dock or bluetooth in my car.
Also, the side 'sound buttons' do not work. ie - when I switch the mute switch to either on or off (and it becomes orange) nothing shows on the screen, also when I push the volume buttons up or down, nothing comes up on the screen.
I have tried: turning it on and off, resetting it, cleaning the charging port with a dry brush, checking the settings to make sure it should be playing sounds, inserting head phones a few times.
I have recently updated to the new 6.1 iOS update, but it was doing this before I updated it.
I can't think of anything notable that happened when it started doing this a few days ago. Seems random...
Also, my iPhone has had sound problems before (speaker crackling and not working) but the side buttons still registered on the screen, and also I could fix it by charging it.
Anybody got any handy hints?? Cheers.

    It's ok, I fixed it.
I got an iPhone 5. Bravo to apple for making me buy another one of their products.

So basically if a iphone has a fault after the 1 year warranty period is over, there is nothing the consumer can do but purchase a new phone??
Pretty much. Except that Apple will replace it for a fixed fee that is far less than the cost of a new phone. In the US the replacement cost for an iPhone 4 is $149. It is comparable in the UK. Unless you can prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. A switch wearing out would probably be considered normal wear and tear, not a "fault".
