IPhone 5 brightness

Sometimes when I wake my iphone 5, the screen is VERY dim, almost not visible. It is very random, and I can not make it happen on demand.
However, when I went into the apple store, they told me they needed to see it happen in order to be able to do anything about it, and as you can not make this happen on demand, I asked, well it is random, how am I supposed to show you? She then told me to take a screen shot of it when it happens.
Well, it happened again just now, and I took a screen shot, and then when I went and looked in the photo's app, the screenshot looked like normal brightness, so I am not sure where to go from here.
Anyone have any ideas?

Turn off auto-brightness if you do not want it to do this.

Thanks very much for your quick response to my posting. I would advise that I have already set the to the brightest display. But it seems that the cover that I am using is not a clear screen put is slightly dark. So I was just wondering if there is any app that I could use to make the iphone brighter.

Iphone 5 Ios 6.1.4 brightness problem

I have a problem with my iphone 5 running ios 6.1.4
Randomly, sometimes when pushing the home button, or pressing the power button, the brightness of the screen goes all the way down to zero (dimly lit).
I have to go in to settings and tap the brightness to get it to back to full.
(the slider bar shows maximum even if the screen is dark - auto brightness is set to off)
I've read many posts about calibrating , using auto-brightness etc., but I have auto-brightness set to OFF, and the brightness set to maximum. That is the way I like it.
So any ideas whats going on? How to fix the issue. I repeat - I do not want to use auto-brightness, I simply want the iphone brightness to be set to maximum, at all times.

Your phone is inappropriately going into pre-autolock dimming. Try:
1. Reset phone (no data loss): press both power and home buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
2. Restore in iTunes using a backup
3. Restore in iTunes as new, without a backup.
If #3 doesn't help, there is a hardware problem that needs warranty service.

My iphone screen is blank

i always had problem with my iphone brightness of the phone . i thought it was normal but when i compare with other iphones my brights was very dim and last week my phone kept on going blank and yestoday my iphone went completly when blank and got blue lines cross the iphone

it needs replaced the liquid damaged the display, it will be a out of warranty charge unless you have AC+ which it is 49$

3RD - AS OF THIS AFTERNOON...my phone wouldnt hang up a call and during a call today..my HOME PAGE wasnt responding...
it registered I clicked a program...woudlnt open..the only 2 on the front page that opened was WEATHER AND CLOCK - both bottom left corner..clock ontop of weather
then I tried scrolling to the next page or search page...it wouldnt do that..it would slowmo do a quarter then flick back to the HOME

I've had the worse, I think. The home button wasn't a big of an issue, but it annoyed the heck out of me, so I got it replaced.
1. Yellow tint and gap
2. Battery
3. Home button issue, where 1 click acts as if I pressed it twice, vice versa.
4. Yellow Band
5. Network issue
6. Home button issue again as described in #3.
7. Won't restore from dfu at the apple store,
8. On my 8th replacement.
I'm sure there are quite who have had more replacements then I did.

Cannot dim iPhone 4 display when docked on Beatbox

While listening to my iPhone 4 on the Monster Beatbox accessory, the iPhone brightly displays the battery charging screen. Although not a real issue for me, my wife hates the brightness when listening to music while falling asleep. Any idea as to how to dim this display while docking/playing music via the Beatbox?

My iPhone just turned on after some damage but the brightness will not change and I can't see anything how do I change it.

My iPhone had water damage and I have had it in rice for at least a month. This morning it started to play music and I got so excited. I plugged it up and left it and when I turned it on the brightness was all the way down. So I thought I just left it this way by when I tried to change it my phone said it was all the way up. I would want to use this phone again how do you change the brightness?

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Also, plug it in to mains power and let it fully charge.

My iPhone 5 Battery Drains Too Quickly! Apps closed, bluetooth off, brightness, low, no notifications...What else can I do?

My iPhone 5 battery life is terrible! The software is updated--ios 7.0.6. I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day on some days. I have to close all apps, turn off location services, turn off bluetooth, turn off 90% of my notifications, lower the screeen brightness to less than 10-15%, and turn off all push notifications--all to get my battery to last until 6:00pm.
I may talk on the phone 10-20 minutes a day, but check emails on my phone a few times in 10 hours. I am indoors most of the day so cold temperatures aren't at play (although if I do use my phone in the cold (less than 25 degrees), the battery drains within minutes!) If I leave my Camera, Facebook, Maps, or the Weather Channel open in the background, my battery will go from 100% to 20% in less than 2 hours.
I have been to the Genius Bar more than once. They replaced the battery about a year ago becasue it was bad. I returned a few weeks ago to have them checked my battery again and it tested fine. The Genius I spoke with wiped my phone and removed all data on it and reset it. Unfortunately, the problem has not been solved.
Has anyone had similar problems? How did you resolve them?

I set the phone up this morning as a new phone no back up.

No wifi
No bluetooth
No back ground programs running
Fetch every 15 minutes for emails for half the day and then went to manually for second half
3G for half day and 2g for second half
tethering off
thats all I can think of. My friend and I looked at all his setting and mine and they were both similar except he keeps his on wifi all day.
we put them to exact same spec when i got to his house at 3. I had close to 50% from a full overnight charge and when I left at 7:30 I left dead and His was at 17% left still from the previous day and when I left his was at 8%

IPhone 4 is overheating after seconds of use, brightness won't work, and front camera is frozen. Suggestions as what is wrong?

So one day my front facing camera decided to just not work. I tried the restore and everything possible, it's just frozen.
Luckily the other camera works. Last week, I woke in the morning and used my phone like normal and I noticed it was so hot. I let it sit and it cooled down and then went on my Facebook app, where not even a minute within use started to get extremely hot. My battery life has decreased significantly and my phone also gets extremely hot when charging. The weird this is that whenever I'm making a phone call, It doesn't get hot and my guess is because the screen goes dim. So i tried turning down the brightness on my phone which it became apparent that my brightness switch doesn't work either. I have tried a restore but to no avail..
The fact that my phone is getting so hot so quick really scares me.Has anyone experienced anything similar? Even though the camera not working and the battery issue happened at different times, I thought I should bring it up in case they are in fact related. Thank you all so much.

I happen to be experiencing then same problem again!
I have followed all the steps and my phone will just not come right. I love my iPhone but I have no clue what is going on sometimes it will just freeze in the camera app and I have to restart my whole phone.
I have downloaded another camera app to see if it would make any difference and it hasn't.
Should I take it back to the service provider that I have my contract with and get them to send it in to apple? Because the phone is only 3 months old.
Please Help me or advise me on what to do because I don't want to leave it and it causes more problems.

If your system is unstable, you should consider restoring your device through itunes to get a fresh version of the operating system.
If your auto-brightness isn't working, it's possible that there is an issue with your phone's ambient light sensor which is hardware and not affected by an iOS update
Are you using a case? if so, it's possible that you're using one that was made for an iPhone 4 instead of a 4S which has an ambient light sensor that is a few millimeters to the left, so some iPhone 4 cases could cover it slightly, causing the ambient light sensor to not work as affectively

IPhone 5 battery discharges VERY quickly; adjusts own brightness; won't connect to wi-fi.

For the past 7 months my phone has been dying faster and faster. I cannot take it anymore. My phone was 100% when I got out of my car, 34% when I got out of my 75-minute class and 11% by time I got to my car (3-minute walk). WHILE IN MY BACKPACK; NOT BEING TOUCHED. I plugged the car charger into my phone and the phone jumps to 54%. After 15 minutes of charging, the phone is 77% charged. By time my 1 hour and 15 minute class is over my phone is at 22%. I unlocked my phone to get to the home screen and I instantly receive the "10% battery remaining" pop-up, I hit OK, and then the 10% drops to 1% right before my eyes. This has been the norm for the past 7 months, so I have to keep an external battery charger on me. This is my second iPhone, my first iPhone was doing the SAME things that this one is doing. It also adjusts its own brightness. I slide it close to being all the way down to save battery. I can lock the phone and unlock it and the brightness is turned all the way up or intermittently moving upwards (to the right) on its own. My phone is constantly on 3G rather than LTE in the same places where I have always had LTE. Wi-fi will be on, but it won't connect to my home network or won't be able to find it although my iPod connects just fine. Sometimes it won't show ANY networks at ALL. I reduced my bill from 10GB to 6GB because I am tired of paying a $200 phone bill and I rarely ever go over 4GB because I always use wi-fi - at home and at school (& I work from home). I have since had to go back to 10 GB to avoid overages because my phone won't connect to wi-fi. My phone does not have any damage to it, just like my last iPhone didn't.
Hard resets and soft resets do not do anything. I prefer not to have to keep getting iPhone 5s.
Any help on solving all of these issues would be great. Thank you.

This is possibly caused by the updates, but some phones had bad batteries.
have you been dealing with Apple directly? You should. Only apple covers your phone..
Last thing you can try.
back up your phone, a full backup to computer is preferred
restore to factory. It is preferred you connect to a computer and use iTunes to restore to factory.
set up as new with iTunes.
Restore your phone from the backup on your computer.
If the problem is not resolved, please make an appointment with Apple.

If you think there's a problem, bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

IPhone 4: display has dark spot, brightness is not uniform

I'm Hector from Italy.
My new iPhone 4 just arrived from the Apple Online Store. It works fine but the top left of the screen has a darker spot; such non-uniform brightness becomes very evident when opening, for instance, Safari (that has a white background).
Should I send it back to Apple?
Or is this a known software issue?
If I go to Milan's Apple Store will they swap it? I would rather not stay without iPhone since all the phones I have at home have a standard SIM and not the microsim.
(without considering that after spending 800€ I really hoped to get a quality product)

This being a user to user forum we can't say what the policy would be at a particular store but if it were me, I'd take the iPhone and ask for an exchange. Make sure and take proof of purchase with you.

I really need someone with high expertise to help me. Obviously i appreciate any help given but please dont say point less comment like reboot the phone or turn autobrightness off.
Here is the issue:
I have had several iPhones, right from the first to the 5. Lucky me. But i have always had the same issue. The screen brightness is significantly lower than any other iPhone that I compare it to.
Now i have the iPhone 5, if i compare it to anyone elses the brighness is much lower. Autobrightness is off. When i first got the iPhone the brightness was like everyone elses.
i only use the official charger. I think there may be a problem with the voltage or the electricity in my home as all my iPhones have had this problem. Im not sure when the change happens but the something is damaging the backlight of my iPhones. No idea what.
Please can some one with the same issue or knowledge of physics please help me. I dont want to keep having this issue. I also have a Macbook pro and am fairly sure its happned with this also but have no means of comparison as I dont know any one else with one that comes to my apartment.

The iPhone 5 has full Warranty. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple Store. Show the Genius the problem and they will replace your iPhone 5 with a perfect iPhone 5 without problems. If some of iPhone 5 have this problem, it does not matter, Apple makes millions of iPhone 5, some are going to have a problem. When the Genius gives you the new replacement iPhone 5 test it out in the Apple Store before you leave, so you are happy and do not waste anymore of your time.

IPhone 5 Brightness setting changes randomly...

Hi im not sure if this was by design in the new iPhone 5 but my brightness setting randomly changes once in a while and even on one time the setting bar automatically moves by itself...
Is this a hardware or software issue?

Turn off auto-brightness if you do not want it to do this.

IPhone display auto brightness

brightness does not function properly on the new iPhone4 sometimes it's dim and I can't see the screen during the day and I need to powered off and re start the system in order for to work properly I've had to do this twice in the four days that I've had my new iPhone4
I have always used the AUTO LIGHT CONTROL feature for the screen displayed on my old iPhone 3GS and it does save the battery I never used
manual setting and I kept in the normal position and it never worked like this it always works properly maybe a bit slow but this one the screen is stuck in the light position sometimes that is dark and I haven't even been in the dark it's either a software issue or maybe somethings wrong with the sensor on the new iPhone if this is a common

Do you use a case, screen protector?
Maybe it is blocking the Ambient Light Sensor.
Set whether iPhone adjusts screen Go to Settings > Brightness and turn Auto-Brightness on or off. If Auto- brightness automatically Brightness is on, iPhone adjusts the screen brightness for current light
conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor.
