just switched to iPhone 5, using Verizon instead of AT&T. having issues texting (send/receive) from other Verizon users, if they're not on iChat. any suggestions? thx

Welcome to our family dm123. As a new customer I know there is no fun in having text issues. Ann154 is correct, the porting process may be taking a while to complete. I would also remove all third party messaging applications from your phone, then test out your messaging. Are the problems with specific contacts? Try restoring your phone with iTunes. Keep us posted on your issue.

I switch from an iPhone to a android but I still have an iPad. I can't receive text from iPhone users but I can send them text messages. How do I go about fixing this problem. Some suggested turning off my iMessage on my iPad. How do I manage that?

Settings>Messages>Off. It's that simple.
You should be able to receive texts from iPhone users. I text my brother from my iPhone to his Samsung Android phone all the time with no issues at all. Are they sending the text to your phone number and not to your email address?

Can't text to other services?

I was texting a friend who is on another service from Verizon at around 1am eastern time August 6 2011. Suddenly, it said the message failed to send. I tried many other people and very few of them will have my texts be sent. I figured out through trial and error that the only people I can send or recieve texts from are other Verizon wireless users. Anyone with att&t, sprint, or anything else, I can't text at all. I thought maybe I had reached my limit for the month, because I checked online and it said I was 3 texts over the limit. However, I checked again an hour or so ago and now it says that I am 86 texts under it. I've turned my phone on and off multiple times to try and fix it. I've gone into strong service areas. I've removed the battery and put it back in. I've looked online everywhere I can think of and searched this website high and low for information on this and I haven't found a single helpful thing. This is getting unbelievably frustrating.
Can anyone give me any sort of hint as to what is going on??

Hello rudikdf! Thanks for sharing about your experience with messaging on your device. You mentioned that you had checked your usage and found that you were over your allowance. Question: Do you know if you have a Usage Control feature attached to your mobile number? If you're not sure what that means, VZW offers Usage Controls can be set to prevent you from sending messages beyond a certain number or from messaging during certain times of the day.

You can only use the Messages app with other iOS users. It does not send SMS text messages. You need to use a third party texting app if you want to text with non iOS users.
Look at TextFree or Viber.

i dont know what the problem is, however i can help u figure out which iphone u have.
if ur iphones back is chrome, u have the original iphone, if ur iphone is black or white on the back u have the 3G and if u can take video by going to ur camera and sliding the slider from photo to video u have a 3GS (this one will also be black or white)

How can I create template documents for non-InDesign users to edit the text of later?

I'm looking to produce a small system for people within my company to edit and print labels as needed that comply with our internal design standards. I would like to use InDesign to produce a few templates for labels that people could then edit one or two fields later on, things like item name and ID number. I'm not averse to producing a small application in XCode that users can start up, enter their data and it saves the printer-ready label sheet to their desktop. I started out using Acrobat Pro, but I'm running into trouble embedding fonts for use in form fields, centering text, and outputting a filled-in pdf for print use, and not a form that submits info to an email or server. If InDesign is the wrong tool for the job of setting up a template like this, please feel free to suggest another route.

I would direct you to the Acrobat forums, personally. You can enable rich-text formatting of Acrobat form fields from within Acrobat Pro, and also IIRC embed fonts for use in form fields. If you can spec out what you mean by "fine detail that we'd need" then we, or someone over at the Acrobat forums, can tell you whether or not rich text in Acrobat forms will work for you. I suggest this to you because centering text for Acrobat form fields is dead easy, so I suspect you've not investigated the tools available in Acrobat after you've exported the PDF from InDesign.
Post-export PDF data merge sounds like, I dunno, variable-data printing? which doesn't sound like it would fit your case.

so can i drop the user and preserve the schema and login to schema with other user.If you drop a user, you drop the schema. There is no real difference between these two terms in Oracle Database.
But you could revoke any login-related privileges and lock the account to prevent that schema to be used for logging in.
You can still use objects (tables, views, procedures, ...) that exist in that schema using a different user that has grants on these objects. Which of the available access methods would fit best to your case depends on your usage scenario.

So, I can't send MMS messages to non-IOS users.

Actually, I can't send MMS successfully without using iMessage. Since anyone that doesn's have an iPhone doesn't use iMessage, directly what am I supposed to do?? This has only been an issue today but it's a ridiculous issue that Verizon seems to refuse to get a handle on. I am connected to WiFi, and even when I'm not, that changes NOTHING!!! So what do I do to fix this? Better yet, what does VERIZON do to fix this? I don't see how people fork over hundreds of dollars a month for services that don't work and customer service reps that offer no help....

Clearly there's a wireless concern that warrants our immediate attention here NoToleranceForShenanigans! Let's look into this together. May I ask what zip code are you in? Are you able to send texts to the same number without any issues? How much available device memory do you have on your iPhone? As you share the details then we can troubleshoot.

Can't see db portlets as non authorized user

Hi,
I created portal db providers - reports and forms and put them on a page. I have checked "Display Page To Public Users". When I log in, I can see the portlets, but without logging in I can't see them.

The iPhone can text other iPhones using iMessage. If you have set MMS and SMS to On, try contacting your carrier and having them make sure everything is setup correctly.

Can I text for free with another iphone if we're both roaming in the USA?

Two of us are going across the border into the US and each of us has the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. Can we text each other for free or do we have to sign up for a roaming package?

Texting requires celluar. iMessage, which you could use since you both have iOS devices, COULD be free, if you were both on wifi, however if not, then you would need a data plan.

Why doen't iphone receive texts from other iphones.

I have recently bought iphone 5C for the first time, I have had an ipad for a long time which I use for imessages through wifi.   I thought that when I am out and about away from wifi I would receive sms/text from other iphones like I had with my previous basic mobile, but this doesn't happen, although I can send texts to other iphones. Also when I return to a wifi area imessage that have been picked up by my ipad then don't appear on my iphone. When both the iphone and ipad are using wifi when an imesssage is received the message appears on both devices. Is this usual as I would like to receive texts from other iphones as it could be important.

Is iMessage turned on your phone?    It doesn't sound like it.
I would disable iMessage on BOTH your iPad and iPhone.   Enable it on iPhone first, then iPad 2nd.
Try again and let us know if it's working properly.
