IPhone 5 cannot send SMTP email over wifi

I am having trouble sending smtp email using port 587 over wifi, when the device has wifi off it sends just fine. The same issue occurs with my iPad as well. Issue occurs on multiple wifi connections. when i use a iPhone4 it connects and sends just find over wifi. Is this a known issue with 6.1 or iPhone 5 in general? the issue started about 2 months ago for both devices and there were no changes made to wifi network.

If your connecting from outside your mail server network you might need to authenticate
Check your smtp settings
Have a look at your mail setting and compare to the device that's working

  • I cannot send an email from my iphone

I have entered all of the information for my in-coming and outgoing server into my iphone 4s.  However, I cannot send an email  and the message reads as follows "The sender address XX.net was rejected by the server.

Did you check your user name and password in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your email account, tap SMTP, then tap the primary server name.  Make sure the settings there are correct.

  • Cannot send an email from my alias Mobile Me account from the iPhone.

I have a Mobile Me email account which works perfectly on my Mac and iPhone. I created a an Alias Mobile Me Account on the web.
I am able to create a new email from the alias account on the Mac.
The iPhone will not recognize the alias account, I cannot add it or sync the account.
I cannot send an email from my alias Mobile Me account from the iPhone.

To all frustrated MobileMe alias owners who want to send email from iPhone - please go to the feedback area of the apple.com and leave messages regarding this issue. I had a lengthy conversation with a tech support guy who agreed that this is a needed fix - he said to initiate a grass roots effort - and that by all of us leaving messages it will eventually get attention and fixed. Why would Apple give us the ability to create alias's, use them on mobileme website, on our mac mail programs, but NOT the iPhone, which is the MOBILE device. Silly. Please protest!! Thanks.

  • TS3276 I cannot get my outgoing SMTP server togo "On-Line" and cannot send out emails.

I cannot get my outgoing SMTP server togo "On-Line" and cannot send out emails.

I had this problem too but I fixed it today.
Go to the mail menu preferences.
    Click on account in question.
Select the outgoing SMTP mail server (the one offline), this has a drop down list, click on the edit server list.
    Click on the advanced button.
Make sure use default port is checked.
Make sure SSL is unchecked (unless your provider requires it, mine does not work with it checked).
    Have authentication set to password.
User name should be your email address for that account.
Make sure correct password is entered (for some strange reason my password box was blank on this account).
    Push the ok button.
For me the SSL box was checked and the password was missing. This is strange to me considering I have unchecked the SSL Box on the mail preference advance page. Also, I went through the complete set up account when I first created the account, why was my outgoing server password box empty?
    I hope this helps.

  • Replying to an email from iPhone - "cannot send as address is invalid"

This seems to have started happening only recently. When an email comes in on my iPhone and I need to respond, I hit reply, type my text and when I hit send, the warning comes up "Cannot send because email address is invalid." Has anyone else had this problem or has a solution? Really thwarts the email aspect of the iPhone.
Much thanks in advance for anyone's help.

    +1
this is happening only with my gmail account...i hope it's a gmail problem.still waiting for the fix.

  • Since upgraded phone to 2.0, cannot send out email

I recently upgraded my iphone to 2.0 (mistake!) and now cannot send out email from my iphone. I have tried deleting all my email accounts and re-setting it up on my iphone rather than syncing with my computer but it still will not send out email. I can send out email from my computer and used the same settings for both...

Also having mixed success sending mail on the iPhone, which is disappointing because I haven't had to send a lot of messages. Out of about 6 attempts, I've had two replies completely disappear. They weren't sent, they weren't in the outbox to send later. They just disappeared. One was while on my home network, the other was while I was traveling. I am very bothered that the emails aren't saved to try and send later.

  • Exchange Emails over WiFi

For the last 3 days or so, I'm not able to get my exchange emails over wifi on my mac and iPhone 5 (mail app). The home wifi is working just fine as i'm able to connect and get all the other mails from gmail and hotmail but when it comes to my exchange account, I get an error 'can't connect due to network error'.
Although, I'm able to get my exchange emails over cellular data connection both on my mac and iPhone. Please suggest.

    Hi Razmee,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried that but my IT guys are a nocturnal bunch of grumps. It's not officially a work appliance, therefore not officially their problem. The fact I spend my own dollars to improve my efficiency and contactability is lost on them.
    Cheers

  • Since upgrading to IOS 8.1.2, I cannot send/receive emails from either of my Apple or Verizon email accounts.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem or how to go back to IOS 8.1.1?

Since upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 on my iPad3, I cannot send/receive emails from either of my Apple or Verizon email accounts.  I confirmed that my internet connection is working. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or how to go back to IOS 8.1.1?

  • Error 1172 occurred when sending smtp email via labview

I found these two useful vi example to send smtp email using Labview:
    http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-7451
    http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-2401
However, I got error 1172 saying "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 74.125.91.109:587". I'm using gmail to send emails and pretty sure that all the settings in the VI are correct. According to http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287, I tried both 587 and 465 as the port, and nothing would help. 587 will give the 1172 error and 465 will hang the vi for a while after stopping it. This 1172 error is unlikely due to the suggestion from the 2nd link, "Note: If you receive Error -1172 with this example, try logging into the Gmail account with your browser.  This error can occur with Gmail accounts that have been inactive for a period of time.  You must log in with a browser and verify CAPTCHA text to reactivate the account." because the error kept on even when I login to my gmail account.
I got myself a solution from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2737823/unable-to-send-smtp-mail-with-net-network-issue, which says to turn off the antivirus software. I turned off McAfee on my PC and it did work. Now, I'm able to send email, even when I log out my account. However, I'm not happy since I have to keep my antivirus off. My question is, is there any way to walk around this issue? i.e. being able to send email with antivirus on?
My 2nd question: how to send message to multiple recipients? The string array to the "recipient" does not work, and the form of "[email protected];[email protected]" does not work neither. Do I have to create multiple property nodes for the recipients or better way to do it?
    Many thanks

    Hi Bhuvanesh,
I noticed that the original thread here hasn't been updated in over a year. In the future, it will be helpful if you begin a new topic for your issue.
I will first address your second question concerning sending SMS messages using LabVIEW. The only way LabVIEW can send an SMS text message is by passing an e-mail to the appropriate SMS gateway service. This gateway will vary by cellular provider. You will need to obtain the SMS gateway service information for each carrier you wish to push text messages to.
As far as the error you are receiving, we will need more information in order to narrow down your problem. What is the exact error message you're receiving? Are you receiving "1172: No connection..." or some other variation? A screen capture of your code would also be very useful.

  • Can't get email over wifi at home, but can at work.

Okay, I think this is a problem with settings on my time capsule, but I can't figure out what. On my iPhone 5 and wife's iPad I can get email over the cellular network and over wifi at work. I can't get email over wifi at home, get a can't connect to server error. Also had a friend, who uses the same ISP, try with his android phone - same error, but works over wifi at his house. Since I can get email over cellular and wifi at work, I'm fairly confident that I have the server settings correct. Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Rob

Was facing a similar issue with my friend's iPad (Latest one). Forcing the DNS Server to 8.8.8.8 (I think Google's DNS servers) fixes this issue. I had faced something similar on my iMac a long time back. Something a little strange about how Apple products do a DNS lookup? Not sure if it is an issue with the response time of the DNS servers as well..
In any case, the good news was changing it to 8.8.8.8 worked.. Luckily the iPad's network configuration tool allows you to navigate to the pane where you can see the DHCP supplied IP addresses and just go to the DNS field, delete what was present there and force it to this address.
The difficulty in coming to this conclusion was the fact that the browser works fine for all the sites we had tried. It is mostly the apps that had trouble, and the App store also was inconsistent in reporting details..

  • I cannot send some emails, I can reply but I cannot start an email, an error comes up in outbox stating 'does not allow relaying' please help?

I cannot send some emails, I can reply but I cannot start an email, an error comes up in outbox stating 'does not allow relaying' please help?

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • TS3274 Why does my Email say it cannot send an email ? Then is does not send it.

my email just started saying that it cannot send my email. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does say that it does not send my email . what can I do to stop my IPad from doing that?

Probably based on the limited information you've given - issue with your wifi or cellular data connection.
Or with your email provider servers.

  • I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • Can anyone tell me why maps cannot determine my location over wifi?

can anyone tell me why maps cannot determine my location over wifi?

If you only have the wifi only version iPad then the location is derived from the router that you are connected to - if it's not in the database that Apple use then your location can't be determined. Only the 3G iPad has a built-in GPS chip. If you have another wifi-only iOS device that does get a location then you could try this https://discussions.apple.com/message/15446656#15446656
