            Hi imissmn,
The details from Ann154 are pretty good ways to begin. You can check if the iPhone 5 is compatible by checking the car manufacture's website. You can also provide us with the car make, model and year along with the bluetooth technology (is the manufacture makes more than one). We want to confirm your device details so please let us know as quick as can be.
Thank you,

  • IPhone & JVC DAB Car Radio - advice

    Hi Guys & Gals,
Can I seek your advice please?
I have a JVC DAB car radio which has a USB connection for my iPod. Works fine when I connect my iPod, but I now have an iPhone 3GS.
When I connect this to the head unit via the USB the iPhone doesn't recognize the head unit or vica-a-versa?
Can I get/buy and App for my iPhone which will mimic the iPod and thus enable my JVC head unit to play my IPhone?
Surely I'm not alone requiring this feature for my wonderful iPhone?
    Can anyone help or advise?

My 3gs USED to work with my JVC head unit until I upgraded to 3.0.1. Now it will not even detect my phone, my phone makes the USB hookup sound and charges, but nothing else works. I've tried downgrading to 3.0 and that does not work. I think apple decided to "fix" something that was not broke. way to go apple.

  • Connect Iphone to car radio system

I try to find a way to connect my Iphone to my car radio. I wan to listen my mp3 and use my phone with the car radio system.
    annuaire et actualité

There are many ways to do this (I use the MonsterCable ipod adapter in rental cars, and the Pioneer Ipod Interface for my P7500DVDII) both with decent results. (great results if you turn on airplane mode). All GSM phones can effect stereo equipment to some degree, and the iphone is no exception. Alot of the 3rd party kits do not use shielded connections which just makes the problem that much more obvious. I found if I adjust the location of my phone in relation to the transmitter and the radio the Monster fm modulator gives satisfactory results without disabling my ability to recieve phone calls. The pioneer is the best, however I can't place the phone in the holder which was installed with the kit since it is in the DIN above the stereo (VW Jetta) and the phone constantly interferes with the amplification circuits. Moving the phone 3-4 inches fixes it.

  • IPhone over car radio?

Can I buy an adapter so that I can play my iTunes on my iPhone over my car radio??

I don't see why not, in fact doing it that way will give you better sound quality that using FM transmitters. I use a tape adapter.

  • Changing Video out on iPhone 4 car radio

I have a pioneer avic-d3 and an iPhone 4. The radio will play video from the iPhone but I can't find the setting to allow the iPod to send its video to the radio. Any ideas?

There is no setting. On my Pioneer deck, when I connect my iPhone, I can select videos when my deck is set to iPod and the list of videos on my phone is dislayed on the screen of the deck. I select one, it plays on the decks screen like yours.
Again, there are no settings on the phones ipod to control this. I connect my phone using the standard iPod connector included with the deck.

  • Bluetooth car radio problems

    Hi guys
Have recently fitted an MEX-BT2900 to my car, everything is working fine, iPhone is syncing fine, audio is playing over bluetooth fine, but when i try to make a call, they can hear me but i cant hear them, any ideas??

    Hello,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums.
Incoming BT phone conversations will only come through the Left front speaker as that is nearest the driver. Verify your settings and connections to make sure you don't only have sound going to your rear speakers.

  • Iphone + VW car radio - no sound

I have a brand new VW Golf car and when I hook up my iphone 3GS it can see my music but no sound is coming out, although it looks like it is playing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I'm not sure if this will work, but you can try it (I have an Acura, and this sometimes happens to me).
If you have your phone paired with the car via bluetooth, sometimes the phone will try to use bluetooth audio instead of the dock connector. When your phone is plugged in, launch the iPod app on the phone. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see the icon for airplay. Hit it, and make sure your audio source is the dock connector and not bluetooth.
This is the only thing I can think of, because I have had it happen to me. By the way, how you like the golf? I'm considering a GTI since my lease is up in May.

  • IPhone 3GS car charger problems

Hello. Up until a couple days ago, I could easily charge my iPhone 3gs in my car using an apple cord and a charger with a USB port. But suddenly, it no longer works. When I plug the charger into the phone, I get a tone and the battery indicator on the phone screen shows it's charging. Within a minute, I get a warning screen that says something to the effect of "This device does not support charging." I've tried two different cords and the same thing happens. But when I plug my iPod into either cord, it charges just fine. Here's the kicker: If I plug my iPhone via the cord into my desktop or an electrical outlet using the adapter, it charges fine. What the heck is going on? Is this an indication of a dying battery?

Clean the dock connector and the iPhone end of the cable with a clean, dry toothbrush, or wooden toothpick. Use a magnifying glass to make sure you got all of the pocket lint.
For the charger, try a different one. They are cheap enough.

  • My iPhone 4 can not be read by my JVC car radio after upgrading to 5.0

My iPhone 4 has always worked with my jvc radio until I went to 5.0 radio just says cannot read and phone says cannot playI whish Apple would fix this problem.

I figured out my problem. When I upgraded to 5.0 my ITunes did not sync correctly so when I tried using it with my Jvc car radio it locked it. So I restored my iPhone and tried it again with no luck so I reset my radio and what do you know it works perfectly now. So if anybody else has had a similar problem try it before replacing your head unit.

  • ITunes automatically starts playing when iPhone 5 (w iOS 7.0.2) is connected to car radio via an Apple cable

I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, regardless it is the most recent update
When I plug my phone into my car radio's USB port (Apple cable, not knock off) iTunes starts to play the very first song in my large iTunes library.
I plug into the USB port to charge it and to connect the phone to radio in order to use hands free audio.
I have tried two or three different cables, it happens with all cables and again all are actual Apple cables.
I do not recall this happening with iOs 6 or at least as much.
With iOs 7 it happens every f***ing time. Extremely annoying and dangerous (I may get so frustrated by this that one day I might just smash the phone or the car radio :-) to the equipment.
I have to unlock my phone, go to iTunes and pause or stop the song/iTunes.
The app does not show as being open, that is why I have to go iTunes itself, the old fashioned way, so to speak.
It sometimes happens when I plug my headset in (also Apple brand, the basic ones that come with the iPad and iPhones) to phone and have tried the two different ones I have. It only seems to happen if my phone is not in use (i.e. I am on a call and switch to the headset it does not happen)
Interestingly this issue with the headphones and iTunes automatically starting happened more with iOS 6  and than with iOS 7. Ironically the opposite is true with the car radio, USB port cable, charging and iPhone — it rarely happened with iOS 6.0 but with iOS 7.0 it always happens.
I cannot seem to find a fix here but I do see I am not the only one with this annoying issue.
Please someone (APPLE!)  figure out a fix.
PS I have even considered NOT having any of my music on my phone — none at all —  which not only would solve the problem (I would hope!)  but be extremely inconvenient and defeating the purpose of only having an iPhone vs an iPhone and an iPod.
PPS -  I probably left out something really relevant, like what color is my car , so if I did, please let me know.

I have an iPhone 5 and every time I get into my car, as soon as my iPhone connects to the bluetooth or if I connect the USB cable, the music starts blaring through the car stereo, even if the radio was off. If I am using any of the navigation apps on my phone (google maps, waze, apple maps), and I happen to be lucky enough to have the voice directions working (that's consistently inconsistent), the music will frequently start by itself during navigation, even if I didn't turn the music on. Sometimes the music and navigation voice over will compete with each other at the same time. Sometimes they both go totally silent. Sometimes I'll hear only music. Sometimes only the voice directions. And if make or receive a phone call while the navigation is working, as soon as the phone call ends, the music will always take over again, even if I didn't have the music on prior to. I've checked and re-checked every setting on my phone, in my apps, in my car, and followed all of the suggestions I've found online (note to Apple - there are tons of posts on this topic), and nothing works.
It seems like there should be an easy software fix for this, or at the very least, options to:
prevent the music from starting automatically every time you connect with a cable or bluetooth (insanely annoying)
allow voice directions to temporarily mute music, should one choose to be listenting to music and navigating at the same time
just listen to voice direction - no music!
Better yet, how about just provide options to let the end-user decide when to listen to music.
For a product that is supposed to be "intuitively easly" and/or "just works", this level of dysfunction shouldn't be acceptable. Come on Apple - what are you doing to fix this???

  • Charging iPhone 5 interferes with car radio

When I charge my iPhone 5 with the car charger, it interferes with the radio (not other audio sources) and produces lots of static. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to solve it?

Search "Car radio interference causes" on Google, and you'll see that's normal.
Choose "Car radio interference filters" and you'll find solutions.

I have had IPhones since their inception.  Last phone was the 5.  A few months ago, I upgraded to the 6 Plus.
    Here is my issue.
On my 5, my car radio (which has USB port) allowed me to plug in and listen to radio or music from my phone and the bonus was it charged the phone as well. All worked great.
Now with the 6 Plus, neither of things work.  The message on the radio (Kenwood) says I Pod error.  The message on my phone say's "this device is supported".
I have called on this before and was told you are aware and that the issue will be addressed in a future update.  There have been several updates on IOS 8 and the issue remains.

I have a Kenwood KDC-X695. When I purchased this stereo and had it installed, I had an ATT iPhone 4.
It worked with the stereo, but had a few issues. I had purchased a few audio books that I would listen to while driving. When I plugged it in it would immediately begin to play the book from the beginning or if I had been listening to music, it would start playing the song that was at the top of the song list.
The stereo came equipped with Firmware version 3.05. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a year later. I had that phone for approximately 2 years. The song or book issue remained the same.
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and the Bluetooth function still works, however the USB port on the stereo that the phone plugs into to allow files on the phone to play through the stereo no longer works.
I contacted the service provider (Verizon) and after speaking to several different technical support technicians, they provided me the phone numbers for Kenwood and Apple because they were unable to help me.
I spoke with Kenwood technical support the following day and after a few fumbling miscues from the technical advisor, it was suggested that I upgrade the firmware, even though the Kenwood literature warns against this if the Bluetooth portion is working, because if there is a problem with the upgrade, it can render the Bluetooth useless and non-functional. The advisor did suggest the latest firmware on the second or third attempt, after I pointed out what I was able to glean from my initial search.
Later that day, I went back to the Kenwood site (from their homepage) and by using their selection tools, discovered that this particular model was only ever intended to be used with the iPhone 4S (the technical advisor was not aware of this, even though I mentioned this during my phone call earlier in the day). According to the Firmware selection tool, my iPhone 5 should not have worked with it.
I performed the Firmware upgrade, and it took 13 minutes. This was less than the 15 minutes that was forecast in the Kenwood literature. The Bluetooth still works but the USB cable connection still causes the unsupported device message that I received prior to the upgrade. I am incredibly annoyed and disappointed.
By upgrading to the iPhone 6, I have three choices; (1) only use the Bluetooth for phone calls without the ability to play other files from my iPhone 6 (2) forced obsolescence of my stereo, requires buying a new stereo (3) return my iPhone 6 and go back to my iPhone 5.
I do not believe that I should have to be a software/Firmware/hardware engineer, vetting every single device that I own; prior to upgrading a cell phone.
I am incredibly annoyed with Apple at the moment.
I have a separate Bluetooth headset that worked with both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that the iPhone 6 simply does not recognize. That is another story for another time.
Currently, I am incredibly underwhelmed with Apple.

  • Whenever I am listening to itunes on my iphone and plug it in to my USB in my car radio, the song stops and instead the first alphabetical song is played. Does anyone have any ideas?!

Whenever I am listening to itunes on my iphone and plug it in to my USB in my car radio, the song stops and instead the first alphabetical song is played. It also does this when it's been plugged in the car, and then I remove it, and it reverts back to the first alphabetical song. This has only happened after I updated my phone. Does anyone have any ideas?!

I appreciate the commentary response but I'm not sure how this resolved my problem.  The car was made before the iPhone coming out.  By this fact, it would seem as if Apple has not made the product to compliment cars made before it.
Can anyone provide me steps to resolve this issue please?
    Thanks,

  • How do I sync iphone4s to Bluetooth in car, having problems. Did not have problems with iPhone 3G?, How do I sync iphone4s to Bluetooth in car, having problems. Did not have problems with iPhone 3G?

I am having trouble syncing my new iphone4s to the Bluetooth in my car. The iPhone 3G had no problems? Can anyone assist with this problem? Thanks

This means you chose to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to your second iPhone the first time you connected the second iPhone to iTunes on the computer being used to sync with the other iPhone.
This did exactly as you selected. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not touched when syncing and are not touched the first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes and choosing to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone. When choosing to transfer the backup for another iPhone to the new iPhone, the Camera Roll contents for the other iPhone replace the Camera Roll contents on the new iPhone.
Unless you imported the photos from the Camera Roll as designed and intended, the photos are gone.

I have an iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.1 operating system. The Bluetooth pairs with my Sony car radio and works fine. However, the iPhone will not stop searching for other devices. This does not seem to affect anything, but I can't help but think it is using battery power.

    One possibility:
How do you know it is searching for other devices?  Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
Why is it searching for other devices? Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
