  • Iphone wont start after screen, lcd change.

Ok so i had dropped my iphone and broke my digitizer and main lcd display. no problem my iphone still worked. So i changed my lcd and digitizer and now my iphone wont turn on. Nothing "nada" I already did that home button power button reset and no apple logo nothing. Plugged into charger and nothing no battery meter no sign of life. I have done this before with no problem but i dont know what i did wrong. Also not even itunes will pick it up.. someone please help me

I completed the DFU mode and on my computer it would not work I think because of my security settings and I did not want to disable my antivirus so I used my moms computer who hasnt updated her antivirus and it worked using her laptop....when I did it on my computer I got Unknown Error 21 which when I researched it could have been the security on my computer so I would suggest this as well but also if you get an error its probably because of your security settings on  your antivirus....good luck and thanks gdgmacguy

  • Desktop icons after screen change

    Hi,
I use my macbook pro every day at work with a 24" apple display (the one w/the bundle of plugs that includes usb/mini display/power). I take my macbook out of my bag, then plug in the screen, click my mouse, and the computer wakes up. When I go home I just unplug everything and put the computer back in my bag.
When I get my computer home and turn it on, my desktop is normally very screwed up. The icons are not on the screen, or the resolution is normally off. To put it back I just have to change the screen resolution to a lower one, then put it back on 1440x1200 (or whatever the macbook pro 15" display is at maximum). Then my icons go back to normal etc.
Sometimes this happens in reverse - when I plug in my display to the macbook pro I have to change the resolution twice (lower then back to normal) to get the icons right.
This whole thing seems quite wrong - does anyone know of a setting I can change to fix this or if I can do something else?

I have the exact same problem, MacBook Pro 15" 2.33 GHz and the same type of Apple display. I use the display at the office, disconnect, bring my PB home, and when I wake it up the PB acts like the display is till connected - no desktop icons visible (although strangely, it shows the Dock and the Finder Menu) until after I restart.
Clicking "detect displays" doesn't work, neither does clicking the highlighted configuration.
My daughter also has a problem with her MacBook and her Apple Cinema display, which has to be set as mirrored or it won't display anything, it somehow isn't detected the way it used to be. Why I mentioned this is because I never had this problem before, and neither did my daughter. It started quite recently, so I guess it is related to a system software update.

  • IPhone alarm issue after DST change

Can't set an alarm on my iPhone for any time between 2AM and 2:59AM. (After you set it and hit save, the summary shows it set for an hour earlier.) It only happens during that time frame.
Tried changing to military time, making the time set to manual, etc., no luck.

Might be something with the date. After midnight tonight try again. I just tried on mine and same thing, after you save the time gets set to an hour earlier; ie 2:41 becomes 1:41. Any other time works fine.
Maybe it is not counting that the alarm will go off tomorrow but it counting it was 2:41am 3/14 which technically does not exist.

  • IPhone full restore after contact change

Hey fellas, so I just got my 3G last week this day. This has happened twice already, where I had to completely restore my iPhone (DHU mode, all that). I noticed that both times, before having to restore it I had changed some contact information (name change, number change) in the SIM card, along with deleting a contact.
I don't know if this is common or not, I couldn't find anything on google about this.
Is there any way I can change some contacts without having to reset the whole phone (and in turn losing all the work?)

The iPhone does not support storing contact info on the SIM card.
In regards to contact info, the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported address book application on your computer.
With XP, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or with the address book used by Outlook Express. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences.
DFU mode should not occur when editing contact info, or deleting a contact.
When you restored your iPhone with iTunes, did you restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?
If the former, try the latter and before doing the latter, sync contact info with a supported address book app on your computer. If you don't have Outlook 2003 or 2007 available and you don't currently use the Outlook Express address book for storing contact info - this address book is empty - before syncing contact info with the Outlook Express address book, enter one contact in this address book. Make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing contact info with the Outlook Express address book, which you want to select.
If restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup does not resolve this and you are in the U.S., time to give AppleCare a call at (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Photoshop interface won't scale back to macbook screen size after screen change (27")

I have a macbook pro and use a larger 27" screen for working in Photoshop for example. So when i close Photoshop whilst using the large screen, it wouldnt scale when I go back to laptop screen mode. So if i forget to resize the window, it will appear as too large on the screen, wich makes it impossible to work! This happend to me once when I had to work on the road, so I wasn't able to reconnect to the larger screen to resize the window so I can actually work. Very frustrating, is there really no solution but just to resize manually?

If your using the Application Frame in photoshop, does clicking on the Green Maximize button fit the the photoshop application to your macbook pro screen?
Upper left corner of the photoshop application window.

I have an iphone 4 and the screen is jumpy and after a liitle while the colors change, has anyone else had this happen and what did you do (if anything) to fix it?

    Read: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4436
It is pretty short so here is the entire text:
    Symptoms
A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.
    Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.
Which is exactly what eelw wrote.

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • Iphone 4s - how do I change the name in the contacts for the owner of the phone - it is coming up as the other person who uses the laptop - so when ringing or texting anyone 2 names are being used as the caller id on the screen

Iphone 4s - how do I change the name in the contacts for the owner of the phone - it is coming up as the other person who uses the laptop - so when ringing or texting anyone 2 names are being used as the caller id on the screen

    *Ralph Johns* writes:
    "Your options are:
Get a trial account form @mac which will work as an iChat name after the 60 days run out but not be a email account that is valid (And is free)"
Do you mean a trial account from .Mac? (DotMac)
"Get an AIM Screen name and set it to Display what you want as you set it up.
The Screen name can be whatever yu want but you can also set it to display something else as well."
I had thought about this, but it seems other people have already chosen the screen name "pinksharkmark" and virtually every variation of it I can think of. So that isn't an option for me. As for getting it to display something else as well, do you mean that if I were to get an AIM screen name like "CromulentCat" I could somehow log in to iChat under the AIM account "CromulentCat" yet get iChat to represent me to my Buddies as "PinkSharkMark"? Because I have to admit I don't see how that can be done. It appears as if iChat displays to anyone chatting with you precisely the account name you logged in under and nothing else. So if you logged in using a .Mac account, then you are displayed as "[email protected]" while if you logged in under an AIM account, you are displayed as "CromulentCat". But that's it that's all... there is no way to change CromulentCat to PinkSharkMark.
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply, though.

  • Blank screen after a change in the motherboard's Bios

    Hi,
Recently, I have bought a MSI motherboard - 865PE Neo2 FIS2R. The computer works fine after I installed all the components and applications (including Windows XP [included Service Pack 1], Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility and all the drivers), as well as updating the bios to the most recent version.
However, after I changed one of the bios settings as follows:
    1. Select Frequency/Voltage Control.
    2. Select Performance Mode
    3. Select Ultra-Turbo
then I try to quit and choose Exit & Save Changes and press the Enter key on the keyboard. Immediately after, the screen fails to show anything.
The reset button on the computer case also fails to response (the reset button works before this incident). So, I shut down the computer, wait for a while and then power it up again, the monitor still does not show anything. Also, I do not hear any special beep sound. At that time, all the fans in the case (including CPU fan, system fans, power fans and video card fan) are moving. Here are the things that I have also tried:
    1) I have tried the monitor and video card separately on another computer and both the monitor and video card work fine.
    2) Also, I have tried to clear the CMOS following the procedure mentioned in the manual jumper but the screen still fails to show anything.
    Here is my computer's configuration:
    Motherboard  :  865PE Neo2 FIS2R (Bios version 1.4)
    CPU :           Intel Pentium 4 2.8CGHz (800 FSB)
    Memory :        Crucial PC3200 512MB CL3 (two of these)
Graphic card :  128MB Crucial Radeon 9800 Pro
    Hard disk :     IBM DTLA-307030
Case :          Thermaltake Xaser III V1000A Black
    Power Supply :  TruePower 380 12V AC 380W ATX TRUE380PGB
Therefore, may I know if the problem is solvable and what caused the problem. Also, I have just bought the motherboard for about 2 weeks, should I go back to the retailer to get a replacement?
Thank you anyone whom may help.

The difference in the performance modes above SLOW is the DRAM SPD timings used ...seems yours is unstable at the Ultra-turbo settings (you may be able to use this setting if you increase your DDR voltage slightly though (I use 2.7v for my CORSAIR)) ...only trouble is gaining access to the BIOS to do this
A few things you can try:-
Use only a single stick of memory -go into BIOS and increase the DDR voltage or reduce the performance setting
If that fails and you have another type of DDR available try using a single stick of that instead (DDR 2700 has worked for me in the past) ...this will force your motherboard to boot at the SLOW timings -you can then enter the bios and increase the DDR voltage, save, shutdown and reinstall your memory.
Try booting with the "Insert" key pressed to force the BIOS defaults to be used
Remove the power cord press the "start" button a few times (to discharge any power left in the PSU) remove the CMOS battery and set the jumper to the "CLEAR" position ...have a cup of tea (or coffee) ...reset the jumper, install the battery, insert the power cord, cross your fingers and BOOT?

  • Iphone won't power on after screen replacement

So I've dropped my Iphone 4S once and screen showed blue vertical lines. I replaced the screen for about $120. After 6 months or so I dropped it again and the screen cracked. I decided to replace the screen on my own so I got a new one and replaced it, but the phone doesn't power on after the screen replacement. I plugged it on charger, did a hard reset but still nothing. I plugged it on pc and it was recognized by the itunes! As it was plugged on pc, I did a reboot again and it left itunes as if it was powered on and suddenly powered off. Still plugged in I tried to power it on again, it was recognized again by the itunes but the screen still wasn't working. Another thing is that it burns a lot without even being on charger or on pc, and I need to take the battery off.

Sorry. There's not much we can suggest. Apple won't touch that phone now.
Try looking for advice someplace like ifixit.com.
