Iphone 5 doesn t charge.. do not recognize the original charger!!!

My iPhone 5 will no longer charge, even with original charger .. what can I do? he not recognize the original charger, abosolute nothing .. if you close while it is plugged in lights alone .. I can upload only when using a fake charger and the phone off.. when i turn it on he work well.. .. what can I do?

Sounds like a bad cable...can you try another charger and cable from a friend? Ot take all parts to an Apple store and have them tested, that is free.

This resolved my issue with the new update on Vista.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

The only way it accepts a charge is by electric outlet plugin.

Try going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". If that doesn't work, you'll have to tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different Apple ID for iMessage.

My iphone 4s when I first recieved the phone it will just turn off and will not recognize the attempt to reset/restart the phone. Now the phone will not recogize the attempt to charge. I tried different cords, outlets, cord base things, and even the computer. When I plugged my phone into the computer it recognized the charge only when the phone was off. When the phone turned itself back on it no lo0nger recongnized the charge. The computer then popped up with a message that said device malfunctioned pc will not recognized device. What should I do? When I took the phone multiple times to my service provider about the previous problems they said "Oh, thats technology for ya!" Any advice?

When I plug my phone into the computer tho it wont even reogize that it is there. If I reset my phone will I loose everything? Also which reset do I choose?

I downloaded OS X 10.6.5 in order to sync my new iphone 5 to my mac. After doing so the computer does not recognize the iphone. I switched the backup from iCloud to sync to the computer when plugged in but nothing happens.

If the Software Update application is not in your Applications folder, then apparently you've inadvertently done away with it. Downloading and installing the standalone Combo Update, as the previous poster has suggested, may install a new copy of it. If it doesn't, you can reinstall it from your original OS installer DVD using Pacifist:

Place the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore as new.

I plugged my iphone in to do an update and it was mid way through the update when the phone was accidentally disconnected. Now the phone is stuck on the screen that shows a cable and the iTunes image suggesting the phone needs to be plugged in to iTunes. We each have an iPhone 5s. One was bought online in September - the other was bought in a store last week. They do not have the same charging port. The recently purchased one uses the same charger as an iPad mini - the older 5s needs a totally separate charger. What's up with this?

All Apple iPhone 5, 5c and 5s use the Apple Lightening connector for charging. There are no exceptions to that.
Are you sure these are both iPhone 5s and are you sure they are both genuine Apple products?

I found a webpage where a user reported the same issue as me.
He said he determined that "foreign pictures" -- meaning any pictures not taken using the iPhone's camera -- were the cause. Once he deleted the "foreign pictures" -- such as pictures obtained from receiving texts from others which included pictures that he saved onto the iPhone, then iTunes worked.
In my case, the fix was to upgrade the iPhone's OS from 5.1.1 to the latest version.
Now, both issues are solved:
Windows recognizes the iPhone as a storage device.
iTunes can see pictures that I've saved on the iPhone.

I solved my own problem....I simply moved the cable to another port while moving the mouse to the USB ports on the opposite side of the computer....and the computr finally recognized the phone...I know it sounds weird but it worked...so if you are having the same problem that had trying removing all the crap you have plugged into the USB ports on your computer THEN plug in your IPhone 4s...use the cable that came with the phone and nothing else...good luck..>!!!
